  1. was on the celebration in oct 23, went to sea day breakfast, left hungry and went to the buffet and had awesome pancakes- also the food was hot unlike the mdr where it was lukewarm- went to the buffet for breakfast the rest of the cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the pancakes, waffles and french toast!!!
  2. i can boast as i always booked a tba room, always got upgraded, as a solo traveler i was willing to take what was left over - did it at least 10 times and it worked well for me.
  3. also thought the alcohol was way overpriced on the ship- bought 4 bottles of absolut vodka in st thomas for $18 each(Oct 2023) - ship was selling it for $50 per bottle- they used to match the prices in the islands for liquor-even with our expensive prices of liquor in clev, the ship was way overpriced- bottle of absolut is $34 +9% tax, and another 1% sin tax, still makes it cheaper then the ship-also if you're interested in the artwork, look at park west website- you can see alot of the same artwork that Park West sells on the ship
  4. several yrs ago i got a beautiful silver & tourqoise dolphin necklace for under $15 as the ship was going into drydock the following wk & they didn't want to box all the stuff up- had it appraised for over $150!!!! Glad I bought it as i get alot of compliments on it!!!!
  5. Had the same problem back in Oct - had no problem with regular check in-at 1st i thought it was me- spent 5 hrs trying to do it on my home pc- gave up and tried doing it 2 days later- no problems- will be interesting to see if it happens in oct 2024 (178 days til cruise!!!)
  6. Have a 4pm departure from Mia and am traveling as a guest of an United Club member- checked united web and it doesn't list a lounge in Mia airport- seemed odd to me considering how big and busy the airport is- anyone know if there a lounge or partner with united in the airport? Thanks so muc- any info is much appreciated.
  7. From what I've read on Carnivals website, it says you can't bring extension cords- since i'm not traveling solo this oct on the magic, i was hoping to bring an extension cord for my curling iron etc- would they take it from me? also do all the cabins have small refrigerators or is it certain cabins, we're in an interior on deck 2? Thanks for your help...
  8. Going on the Magic in Oct- koved your review- can't wait to cruise now- 185 days to go!!!!
  9. Of the 26 cruises i have taken since 1982, 14 have been solo- I had alot of fun both traveling solo and also with friends-my next cruise is in oct with a friend- My 1st cruise was on the Festivale- we had a blast!!!!! Traveling solo has it's benefits- my schedule is my own- it also has it's drawbacks- no one to laugh with about some of the crazy things that have happened on a particular cruise-
  10. I'm really enjoying your review- will be on the Magic in oct- looking forward to the rest of your review!!!
  11. Last oct i had a 5pm spirit flight out of mia- took my time getting off the ship- and didn't rush through the airport- looked in the shops- grabbed lunch and relaxed-
  12. Has anyone ever stayed here- got a great deal and want to know if it's a decent place to stay the day before i cruise
  13. i got credit for all my cruises- faxed over copies of embarkation photos (1982, 1983, 1984 (2 cruises) and was credited within 24 hrs- our boarding passes were pieces of paper- (3 carbon copies) and you could barely read the print on the 2nd & 3rd copy-
  14. I had a very severe allergy to all poultry for well over 30 yrs- had to be very careful of soups, sauces and all poultry- i always spoke with the maitre'd the 1st night and never had a problem- luckily i outgrew the allergy and have been able to eat poultry since 2006- i wish you happy cruising!!
  15. i'm not a big drinker- might have 1-2 drinks during the course of a 7 day cruise- i always have a good time even when i travel solo- have been cruising since 1982- mostly on Carnival- haven't seen many drunks either- i prefer 7 day cruises with 3-4 ports-
  16. My 1st cruise was on the Festivale in Oct 1982- we had a blast!!!!! I still have my Carnival Capers (in my scrapbook) along with the 400 pics that were taken by my friends and me!!! Back in 1982, the officers got off duty at midnight and would show up in the disco- we got little or no sleep the whole wk!!!
  17. i did the Celebration in Oct 23- it was nice- very spread out-didn't feel crowded until the last day when I saw the line of people carrying their luggage off!!!!! The ship is very nice , I had an interior room, deck 11, came with a small fridge-loved the bed- best sleep I'd had in years!!!! Also I did the mdr for dinner and the food was very good- buffet for breakfast was very good as well (french toast and pancakes were awesome!!!)
  18. Thank you for all the info- when i first cruised on the Festival back in 1982-, Carnival had 4 ships, 2 -7 day cruises- Festivale out of Miami, Tropicale out of LA, 1-4 day cruise- Mardi Gras out of Miami and 1 -3 day cruise- Carnivale out of Miami- we thought the Festivale was big at 38,000 tons!!!
  19. am on the magic 10-13-204 sailing and am not sure what this ship is listed as- any info is very much appreciated-
  20. going on a 6 day cruise sept 15-21 and not sure of how many formal nights will occur- i know on a 7 day cruise it's 2 - any advice will be greatly appreciated
  21. i noticed that certain sections of the dining room were set aside for early seating, late seating and anytime dining- i was always able to make it to the shows with time to spare....
  22. was on celebration oct 23, i chose late seating (7:45pm) as i wanted to sit at the same table each night- worked well for me as i was traveling solo and my fellow table mates were also traveling solo-i was assigned the Festival dining room which was great as my very 1st cruise was on the Festival-also the food was very good that sailing....hope this helps.
  23. it was ok on the celebration- loved the fish & chips on valor & paradise but the best fish & chips was at cooperstown (owned by alice cooper) along with the clam chowder- sad day for me when it closed- looked like a hole in the wall but had the best food and not expensive-
