  1. Just read this and am concerned as we are traveling to Europe soon. Myself (grandmother), my adult daughter and her 3 year old daughter. Would they separate us? If they picked my daughter for extended security check would she be able to take the toddler with her? I am probably just overly worried being 3 females in Europe.

  2. We used to have a small hand-held grinder to mash up just about any food for baby. "Munchkin Baby Food Grinder" is one that I just found on Amazon for $9. Ours was white, but I didn't see that one with the quick peek I just did.

Small and simple, just stick a few tasty morsels in the tube, twist the handle a few seconds and finely ground meat or vegetables or whatever comes out the end. It comes apart for thorough cleaning by rinsing in the sink once you're back in the room.

With something like that, you could feed baby just about anything from your plates. Of course, you need to avoid heavily spiced dishes or foods that can pose potential allergic reactions like shellfish, nuts, honey, mango, etc. At 10 months, our babies were eating lots of regular food.

Plus, as other posters have mentioned, many foods will need no mashing or grinding at all.

Bread, soup broth (hot and cold), already mashed potatoes, soft vegetables, scrambled eggs. The list is endless. No one goes hungry on a cruise, even baby.

BTW, I wouldn't try new a food for the FIRST time on the ship. I'd start with a few representative food groups now, at home. You don't need any surprise rashes or intestinal issues with baby.

I just seen this food grinder at Target 2 days ago. Used same item for all 3 grandkids. They never had jar food as we made all of theirs. Bring a toothbrush for cleaning it

  3. Severa years ago I found myself with two guest numbers. It occurred when I booked via another source. Took me 18 months of phone calls and emails but it was finally rectified

I now check past guest numbers of each family member going against our records right after I book.

  4. Maybe I didn't write my post very well. Flying from XXX to a gateway city to BCN will make a very long day for a 3 year old-most likely about 12-14 hours.

By breaking the trip into home airport to gateway city with a motel overnight, staying at the motel until check out time, GOOD breakfast someplace, and then taking something like Icelandair where the child actually gets to have a FUN day at the Blue Lagoon if the proper flights are chosen before leaving for the short hop to the final European city should be a more enjoyable trip and give a little downtime and a little fun.

When my step sons were little and we flew to both Hawaii (from Iowa/Kansas City) and to Alaska, they were so darn warn out and cranky with the waiting for plane changes, on and off planes, we said never again. So when AA was flying nonstop from ORD to ANC, we drove them to Chicago to board. Hawaii trips were broken up with a hotel in LA, sometimes with a beach day or something fun (one time Disneyland) before the long flight to Hawaii.

Sure worked a lot better for us than sitting and waiting in airports, particularly one time when the plane was delayed over 3 hours. THAT was a nightmare and DH decided we would never try to do the longer trips in one shot. JMHO.

Leaning towards the stops with her. We drove to Miami when she was 18 months. Thought a straight through night drive would be good. Then she could sleep. We call it the trip from hell!

Each time a tractor trailer passed us she woke. Which means she was awake and extremely cranky all night. We would have stopped except her mother and I (grandmother) are both night shift nurses and both of us had slept during the day.

Let me ask what and where is this Blue Lagoon you wrote of?

  5. Many of you are under the misconception that you have to be 18 years old to have a full validity 10-year passport. You don't.

Once a person is aged 16, they qualify for a passport which is valid for 10 years. Only applicants under the age of 16 get passports valid for 5 years.

Here's the info from the U.S. Department of State:

    http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/16-and-17.html

This is correct as our grandson was 2 months shy of 16 and we waited so he would have a ten year passport

  6. We are a milk drinking family especially with the warm chocolate melting cake.

My problem is I love cold milk and sometimes it just isn't cold. I keep a couple of cartons on ice in the cabin.

  7. Our experience out of Miami has always been good be it now or 15 years ago.

It is Ft Lauderdale that has been the worse for us. I have avoided there for the last 2 yrs when my year old granddaughter was injured when they called for all Diamond, platinum and fFTTF to board. What a mob. She was in her stroller and was hit in the head by a large carry on carried by a very rude woman.

I wish boarding was done one group at a time

  8. On my Pride repo cruise, I inadvertently left my "bible" of usernames and passes, along with my address book behind. I panicked when I couldn't find my little notebook (which in hindsight I shouldn't have taken with me). I called Guest Services as soon as I noticed it was gone and they said I had to wait for at least 1-2 Pride sailings before I might hear from them. Today I received a Fed-Ex box with my little booklet, my address book and my iPad keyboard which I just discovered missing yesterday. All three were held together with a rubber band when I took them. The keyboard was very nicely wrapped in bubblewrap. I was SO HAPPY!!

Carnival included a very nice Welcome Home letter telling me my lost articles were located and they had verified my info and returned to me.

They included the following Fun Ship Tips:

"Take a picture of the front of your Sail & Sign card with each of your cameras or cell phones as soon as you get on board. If these are lost, we can identify it and contact you quickly, even if found on the pier, in a taxi or on a shore tour.

Also if you have home Address Mailing Labels, attach one on the bottom of each camera, also place one inside your camera case. If we receive a lost item, not found in a cabin, or not having a picture of the S&S card as recommended above, you might miss out on pictures of a life time and the loss of your camera."

I just wanted to share my happy story!:D:D

Awesome idea. Having lost a camera on a cruise in the past I appreciate this idea

  9. Have traveled with grandsons since they were 5 and 2. They loved it. Now at ages 18 and 13 as you might guess the 13 still loves it. The camp that is as they are both addicts when it comes to crusing.

So now we have a granddaughter age 3 in 2 weeks and will be on Breeze with her in June. This will be her third cruise and we will be trying Camp Ocean. So looking forward to her experiencing the camp. So glad to see your 3 and 4 year old experiences.

My only request of all of them, including parents, is dinner together. The boys opted out of dessert to get to the camp and their new friends many times over the years.

  10. I have a granddaughter turning 3 next month.

She is a night owl and has been from the start

Her mother is a 12 hour night shift nurse, has been for years, and I guess that set her sleep cycle.

We are able to do late dining with her.

She does at times sleep late

Daughter is going to home school her

    We are just very flexible.

  11. My Carnival PVP told me that they do not require a form but the customs/check-in people might ask for something. Carnival does not have a specific form, he said to just have a letter notarized with the information, dates of cruise, etc, giving you guardianship, etc. I may take the NCL form to help create my own form to use on the Carnival cruise with Grands next year. :)

That's all we have ever taken with us. Took each grandson on their first and both have been Platinum for years.

Enjoy cruising with grandkids as it is a very special time for both.
