  1. I have to agree with retafcruiser, that does not seem too unreasonable, for 2 bags, 2 ways. We would probably only ship a single bag one way to Southampton.

And bigmike911, we're on the same voyage, we board in Southampton on Nov 5.

    Thanks for all the input.

  2. We live in the New York area. We are sailing QM2 westbound TA in November. We are flying to LHR to spend a few days in London prior to sailing. We would like to avoid carrying a suitcase full of formal clothes on an airplane, through London, and onto Southampton. Does anyone have experience shipping luggage directly to the ship? Did you use Cunard's service? Did you deal directly with a shipper such as DHL?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. As others have said, it depends on the port. In Civitavecchia, we never left the ship. Just went to the Sky Lounge, turned in old seapass card, picked up new card and we were done. Our cabin steward obviously knew we were staying on and did some deep cleaning the day before. And he cleaned up our cabin early so we could hang out there if we wanted. But whether you have to get off or not is based on the rules of the authorities.

  4. Edge is deadheading to FLL to be filled out with final bells and whistles and a corporate sendoff from the port of Fort Lauderdale (Chmn Richard Fain misspoke- not Port Everglades

I thought Port Everglades is Ft. Lauderdale??

  5. I haven't used a lanyard before on many cruises, but I am considering it now. If you put the ship's card in a purse that has a magnet in it - your ship's card won't work. I had his happen on 2 cruises and had to go to guest relations to get a new card. Also, if you keep your card next to your cell phone, the card won't work.

Yes, you do have to keep those X seapass cards away from electronics.....but why I ask??? I don't have that issue with hotel room keys. I'm sure with a strong magnet, you could mess up the room key. But casually being in the neighborhood of a cell phone or iPad doesn't mess up the hotel key. Why can't X figure that out......go talk to Marriott!

  6. Thanks so much for posting, we'll be on the Summit in April---our first time as Elite! Do you know if you can get a mimosa or a bloody Mary at the breakfast in Tuscan? Friend of mine told me you could?

Yes you can. Plus speciality coffees

  7. OP - Forgot to mention, when you sail into Stockholm, make sure to get out of bed and up to the top deck very early 6 am if not earlier. The sailing up the archipelago is the most scenic part of the sailing IMHO. Those who sleep in that day definitely miss out.

We sailed on Silhouette last spring (2016), and Concierge pax were invited on to the helipad at the front of the ship for the sail away. We were joined by lots of ship's officers and staff.....a really unique experience.

  8. Depending on where your cruise ends / begins, you may have to vacate the ship. We did a b2b with Rome as the turnaround port and did not have to exit the ship. Just went to Sky Lounge and turned in the old seapass card and picked up new one.

In any event, you will have to get a new seapass card, and all remaining credits / internet minutes/ perks from the first cruise will expire. They "close the books" on the first cruise and start anew on the second one. So you do get a new set of perks on the second cruise.

  9. I think the process will be that you Connect your device to the ship Internet. You will be asked to enter your folio number, which is found on your seapass card. Using the folio number, the system will look up your account, which should show unlimited access. It will ask for a user ID and a 4 character PIN. Enter those and you're connected.

  10. We used ChoiceAir for a one way TA cruise from Civitavecchia. Selected United because I have "status" with them. When booking, entered my Mileage Plus number. I was able to use the UA web site to change seats and do on line check in.....just as if I booked directly with UA......but at a considerable savings over UA's one way fare. And I received mileage credits. Round trips, particularly domestic, usually do not save any money. Pays to check both ways.

  11. Thanks, that's good news. In addition, did they have 3 drinks loaded on your Sea Pass to use at other venues should you choose, in addition to the unlimited drinks in the Sky Lounge?

Well, I don't know for sure. We had the drink package, so it was never an issue. But if I had to hazzard a guess, I would say that the 3 drinks were not loaded on the sea pass card. The free drink coupons / sea pass are only for times when there are many elites on board and they cannot accommodate everyone in the Sky Lounge. So they don't do the sky lounge thing.....just use the coupons at any bar. It's an either / or thing, not both. And the coupons were only valid between 5:00 and 7:00. We were on a TA and I went to a bar at 7:05 or so, and the bartender would not accept the coupon.

  12. Don't have your heart set on doing the cooking. On the Reflection, health policy was cited which allowed us to watch but not cook. This was a change from my previous experience in which I was allowed to cook.

Bummer. My experience was on Silhouette a couple of years ago. I guess the lawyers got involved and put the kinase on "fun".

  13. Two weeks ago on Eclipse the announcement came after the first couple of numbers had been called. Tomorrow's instructions are for the first luggage Valet tags AAAA to assemble in Quasar at 7:45 to wait for their call. The later tags BBBB, CCCC, etc can go anytime after that announcement.

Hummmm....we had AAAA but I don't recall reading anything about assembling anywhere. Of course I'm an engineer, and we NEVER read instructions

  14. Well, not quite, as far as walking off whenever you want. The Luggage Valet people are asked to wait until an announcement is made that their luggage has all been cleared. After that announcement, then they can go whenever they wish. Before that, there is still a chance that their suitcase might still be rejected from the program and would have to be retrieved and personally checked at the airport.

Hummmmm....didn't happen on Silhouette last week. Our paperwork said to disembark whenever we liked and we never heard any announcements regarding luggage valet.

  15. Not true for all items. My dress shirt always comes back from being washed, pressed/ironed.

Thanks nice to know. I don't recall ever sending a dress shirt. Mostly, golf shirts, tee shirts, and undies...also a few long sleeve causal shirts. Shirts come back folded but certainly not ironed.

  16. This is one of the restaurants we will be eating at, so I will let you know how it is. My husband is really looking forward to eating there.

Suggest he should do the cooking! You can grill your own steaks under the watchful eye of one of the chefs. You get to wear an apron, and get some grill tips from the pros. Lots of fun....and makes for great pictures.

  17. This is great info. This will be our first cruise with Celebrity and first time with a drink package. I see that frozen drinks up to $8 per serving are included in the Classic package. My question is, are the prices of a frozen margarita or daiquiri within this amount? It seems like they were more than that on other lines we have been on. Thanks for any info!

They should be. We had the classic package. We drank pina colodas by the pool almost every day.

We had considered upgrading but thanks to our sommelier found some wines that were satisfactory. No single malt scotch on the classic, but I got by on Heinekens, Coronas, and G&T.
