  1. You can specify all you want. It's not going to happen. The loads are commingled and all washed in hot water and dried in hot dryers. If your clothes cannot survive this process, don't send them out. Launder them yourself in your sink, roll in a towel, and hang to dry. Or you can have them dry cleaned.

Linda - I have a different perspective. Just off Silhouette last Sunday. We did the behind the scenes tour, below decks, engine control, bridge, etc. It was fun. One of the tour stops was the laundry facilities. We stopped at the area where crew and guest laundry is handled. I noticed that the machines had a number of controls for wash temp, etc. So I asked the laundry manager how they handled laundry. He said they sort based on color and labels and wash accordingly. We have done laundry on numerous cruises (free for Elites) and have never had a problem. Don't expect it to come back wrinkle free though!

  2. The question is if there are not the number of Elites on board to warrant coupons, Celebrity has begun to load up the Sea Pass with 3 drinks, and the event is held in the Sky Lounge, is it now a 3-drink limit on any and all the time, at any and every venue, and Sea pass is scanned for each drink?

For example, in the past (without coupons) you could go to the Sky Lounge between 5-7pm and have 4-5 martinis or 4-5 beers. Is it now the case (without coupons) that 3 drinks are loaded onto your Seapass, and that's it, period, exclamation point!

Just off Silhouette last Sunday. Elites happy hour was in the Sky lounge. Sea pass cards were not scanned......drink to your hearts content. Also during happy hour (s), they were passing around various hot appetizers. We were generally there around 6:15 or 6:30 (late sitting) and it was pretty empty.

  3. We are stoked that this service is back. Tried to use it a couple of years ago, but our flight was only minutes away from cut-off (yeah, don't bother getting into that discussion with Guest Relations!!) . We plan on using this 'no brainer' service in a couple of weeks. If United changes our flight time, I will be righteously PO'd  as we are onside by minutes!!

We had an 11:23 flight last Sunday, which was 7 minutes prior to the 11:30 minimum. Silhouette Guest Relations said no problem....and there was none. Bags arrived in Newark with us.

I think X needs to do a better job publicizing this. There was one little notice in the dailies and nothing else. No signs, nothing in the cabin, nothing. If it hadn't been for these boards we might have missed it. It is a great convenience, and you can basically walk off the ship whenever you want.

  4. We just got off Silhouette yesterday. We never had any problem getting drink service. Servers were constantly circulating the pool area. Same in the Oceanview. We had the regular package and we're only asked about upgrading once! We were offered a choice of a couple of different reds and whites at dinner. We found a couple of wines to our liking, so we never considered upgrading. Our sommelier was constantly refilling our glasses.....never went empty unless we asked her to stop.

Bottom line....I'm not seeing any decline in drinks service because of the packages......YMMV

  5. I can't recall a time in recent memory where ships time was different from local time. They usually have you move clocks forward or backward on the night before you arrive at the next port. I've got 30+ cruises under my belt.

  6. I have recently been on the Silhouette twice - once in October in the Western Med. and over New Year's in the Caribbean.

The internet was better in the Med, than in the Caribbean. Who knows why! The flyer I have from the Caribbean lists unlimited internet at $259for a 9 day cruise. (Good thing I'm Elite Plus and get enough minutes to last me.)

Also, the TV reception/channels you can watch was better in the Med. In the Caribbean, there was almost no news - no CNN, MSN, FOX, etc for most of the cruise. I found this kind of strange. Closer to the USA, but with less TV.

It has nothing to do with proximity to the US.....all about which satellite is being used.

  7. Usually, if you purchased in the gift shop, they will hold the bottles until the last night, and deliver to your cabin.

Once on Cunard, I ordered a set up from room service, but paid much more than the gift shop price. It came with a variety of mixers of your choosing.

  8. 10 folks including several with mobility issues? AND you want to park in Manhattan? You may want to consider flying from RI to NY.

Flying??? You can't be serious. It's a 3 hour drive......get in the car, drive, get out. Think of all the mobility challenges with getting to the airport, getting thru security and on a plane, dealing with luggage, then getting a cab/limo to the pier.

  9. Was on Silhouette during playoffs a couple of years ago. They had a projection TV set up in Celebrity Central. Plus snacks like wings, nachos and cheese, hot dogs, etc, etc. and they sold beer and other drinks. It wa s great party!

  10. Using Celebrity CruiseCare policy price 1) is not age-sensitive price 2) allows partial future credit if cancel for any reason 3) is secondary coverage to your own health ins.

Have always taken CruiseCare and had ok treatment with a couple claims.

    GOOD LUCK

Also had a good experience with CruiseCare. DW had a detached retina and we had to leave ship in Athens. Insurance refunded unused part of cruise and airfare from Athens to NYC. X contacted us after we got home and walked us thru the claim process. We were VERY satisfied with X and CrusieCare.

  11. Drinks on the wine list may not be available in all packages free. The Sommelier however once informed what package you have will bring you wine to taste that is available within your package. Depending upon your relationship with the sommelier and available wines you may be pleasantly supplied what you are offered. I hope I don't have to spell it out syllable by syllable. Not all available wines are on the wine list. The ship carries hundreds of different brands and varietals, too many to put all on the wine list

A discreet $20 or so to the wine steward is usually a good "investment'

  12. C class gets you a few small additions.....supposedly better linens and towels, foot stools on the balcony, etc. also afternoon canapés......nothing spectacular, but it can fill a void in the eating cycle. Best perk is embarkion day lunch in the main dining room, a nice sit down 3 course luncheon. Also I think you get double points in Captains Club.

I'm doing this from memory, there is a list in X's web site that lists the particulars.....so excuse me if I'm slightly in error.

  13. Well, we have a different experience with insurance from a cruise line. On a Med cruise, had a medical emergency that required us to fly home for treatment. Insurance from X reimbursed for unused portion of cruise (11 out of 14 days!), as well as walk up air fare for 2 from Athens to NYC. X's insurance reps knew we were off the ship and contacted us before we had a chance to contact them. Outstanding service IMHO!

  14. If you take a cab from the cruise terminal to the airport, have the taxi driver drop you off in the car rental terminal. Follow the airport signs to "rental car returns", it takes the cab into the garage and he/ she can stop next to whichever company you rent from. Works really well if you are Hertz Gold, or National Express, or Avis whatever.

  15. You may be able to watch a game at the Casino bar. They usually have a ESPN station on.

Yes, but the playoffs and WS are not carried by ESPN. And the ESPN feed that is picked up in the Mediterranean is usually showing European sports, especially "football".....better known in the US as soccer.

And don't forget the time change. An 8pm start in NY is 1 or 2 am on the ship! I lived thru this scenario with the Mets last year. I was up at 3 or 4 am checking scores via my wi-fi connection. No live broadcasts to be had.

Sorry, but the bottom line from one who has lived thru it......you will likely see no baseball on the ship.

Don't forget, Fox and TBS pay big money for these broadcasts. So they don't just let anyone pick off their satellites feeds.

  16. Always loved the horse racing on RCL. It was always by the pool. As others said, there were 6 horses. There were 2 or 3 dice. The CD shook the dice and whatever numbers came up, those horses moved one space. So, if there was a 1,2,3, then horses 1,2,3 each moved one space. Duplicate numbers moved that horse up 2 or3 spaces.as for the owners race, early in the week the horses were auctioned off. There were occasions where there wasn't much interest in bidding so horses went for $25 or $50. As folks got into it, the bidding on subsequent horses increase. On a Christmas cruise that was packed with families, the bidding got up to over $1000! It was crazy. The prize for the owners race was the total of all the 6 bids,

We bought a horse on one cruise, and actually won. Our prize was a bit over $1000 if I recall. We bought one of the first horses, before the bidding got crazy on the later horses. It was a blast. Wish they would bring it back.
