  1. Even for someone that doesn’t like sun, sand, beaches or coconut M?
  2. Well when you see some of these people photographing their burgers on their phones with 6 inch rainbow nails they’re obviously much easier than a dlsr to operate. 😉 I take food pics on holiday too and agree the cameras are much improved in low light.
  3. Well it’s a bit complicated but I’ve been monitoring the MPox situation closely because of my upcoming South Africa extravaganza in January. Vaccines are still making their way through the 😉 African system and have yet to arrive, meanwhile Clade II seems to be running rife and seems to be a lot more contagious. If My tour operator cancels after I’ve paid for my flights (separate booking due to processes) I’ll lose £5k on flights not covered by insurance. Plan B that I’ve spent today figuring is becoming quite appealing. Fly to Mahe FC Emirates (Book BC but ^ on points) 13 night cruise on Crystal Symphony Mahe - Maldives - Sri Lanka - Sabang - Port Klang - Singapore. Quite an unusual cruise but one that ticks several off the list including Seychelles, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and enjoying the Symphony again. One night at the Marina Bay Sands and then a couple of nights at https://echoresorts.com/gayana-marine-resort in an over water villa before joining a great 10 night tour of Borneo and then returning on BC^FC on Emirates. Oh what to do?
  4. Blaenau is 20 minutes from here! My Partners Nain was born and bred there. Rojaans ancestors were obviously involved with the slate mines as everybody in the town was. The town is in the centre of many open cast mines and only looks lovely when it snows.
  5. It couldn’t have smelt worse that the halibut.
  6. Especially considering that SS claim that they are not responsible if their car service lets you down and you miss your flights and therefore your cruise. They are on a very sticky wicket with that one in the UK and Europe. I Look forward to reading the Judges findings on the first case brought against them.
  7. That looks lovely JP. Next cheat day I have from the Keto I think I’ll be tempted. I was nearly tempted tonight. I Walked past the Kristy Kreme cabinet in Tescos and I’m sure those dirty things were winking at me. Especially the Strawberry Sundaes.
  8. Haha, as someone that lives in an Abbey I can sympathise fully drron.
  9. Sweetcorn is one of my favourite things on earth Lois. If ever you fly Emirates BC, make sure it’s on a flight where they serve the Sweetcorn Soup. It’s worth taking the flight just for that.
  10. I once survived a traditional Ukrainian Sunday lunch but only just. My ex was Ukrainian and the family came to visit. The women all huddled off to the kitchen to make vareniki whilst the men drank vodka. When the bowl of vareniki was presented to the table along with a tin of Beluga that weighed around a pound and had been smuggled through customs along with several packets of smoked halibut and numerous ring pull bottles of vodka, the vodka was brought forth from the freezer and the celebrations commenced. My memory is a little hazy but I believe the order was dumpling, caviar vodka. And repeat, for several hours. I may be wrong. My career as a day drinker has never brought me much success. I Regained consciousness around the middle of the next day. I’ve tried harder since but the yard arm still works best for me.
  11. Well they could go back to Ferragamo but I doubt it. Maybe Lynx is next?
  12. No Chance WWFT. At this rate it may be many years before I get to back on SS.
  13. That was on the Book Now part Jolly not the Request Quote, so I'm assuming live pricing. I Didn't go any further through the process.
  14. I'm currently booked on Az in January JP around South Africa but I'm reckying alternatives in case the Mpox situation gets much worse.
  15. We have had our share of colourful ancestors too. One that stands out was my Great Grandfather 8 times removed, Thomas Challinor, Headmaster of Shrewsbury School who stole £600 of the schools coffers to give to King Charles 1 in 1642 at the start of the Civil War. He was dismissed by the Parliamentarians. He was later re-instated when the Monarchy was restored. I Believe that the School still have the I.O.U. signed by the King promising to repay the money. Ive also found a drawing of my Great Great Grandfather who was Chief Constable of Shrewsbury around 1850. It stopped me in my tracks! Apart from the rather spectacular facial hair, it was like looking into a mirror. Ive got back as far as the 1420s on my maternal side but it gets very messy to go any further as they didn't use Surnames commonly in Wales, it was all son of or daughter of. Meet Samuel Challinor.
  16. I Was just looking at a Muse Sailing in January (Aukland to Sydney) and the rate for P2P is £4400 pp so that's £8800 per couple or £10,300 for a solo. Even the D2D is cheaper for a couple at £14000 than a solo at £15500. How on earth can they justify that with one less air ticket? Luckily there are other lines out there that do want solo travellers but Silversea apparently don't want our business.
  17. I Must say every time I smell Bvlgari it reminds me of being on a SS cruise. Such a shame that such things are spiralling downwards.
  18. I’m going to see them in April at the Royal Albert Hall GD. Please let me know how you enjoy it.
  19. I Thought American steak consumption was a matter of national pride HostJB? Our local butcher is superb and whenever I spy a tomahawk of Welsh Black I can’t resist. He usually cuts it to around 1kg (with the bone). We’re so lucky with our local butcher here, he puts on the blackboard which farm each days cuts are from. Luckily (as a disassociated animal lover that will never find satisfaction from a vegetarian diet) he doesn’t give us the animals names.
  20. And easily solved if they wanted to. They could organise reusable large containers of spring water that could be decanted into reusable bottles but they don't seem interested in a solution. It took me 20 seconds on google to find these https://www.cheddarwater.com/spring-water/ibc-bulk-spring-water/
  21. The most special moment that I will take to my grave is a moment that I shared with our beloved Queen. It was the only time I ever saw her Cortège caught up in traffic but Aldwych was a mess that day. I’m sorry to say that some Americans exclaimed “oh my god it’s the Queen and one went to bang on the car window. She disappeared instantly under several policemen. Prince Phillip dropped a bollock but the Queen looked down at the woman on the ground, looked me square in the eye and howled with laughter.
  22. And the time I didn’t meet Jon Bon Jovi was very memorable too. The other people that never met him were bowled over too.
  23. Also I didn’t see Brian May and Anita Dobson on their first New Year’s Eve together. If I had then I’d have said that they were a wonderful couple but as I didn’t see them then I have no comment.
