  1. Thank you! Appreciate the feedback! I think we'll just roll with our 6 peeps as is! 🙂
  2. Thanks for the feedback. My daughter is 9 and she LOVES to swim and isn't freaked out by sea life or other creatures. She loves playing by the creek at her grandparents house and is always bringing back little critters she insists she must keep as pets! LOL And she's on a kick now where she says she wants to be a marine biologist when she grows up (I think EVERY kid wants to be a MB at some point during their childhood lol). So I think she would love this! I've swam with the stingrays a couple of times in Grand Cayman and am always amazed at how friendly and docile these creatures are. Such a fun experience!
  3. I've heard of stuff like that happening with the cabanas fairly regularly. People astound me sometimes. How can you not know that people pay for the cabanas and the amenities that come with them?? I guess alot of people live under the premise of ask forgiveness, not permission! lol
  4. Well, my daughter and I use the same shampoo and condition and my hubby is bald so that helps out! Most of his products are for his beard which he'll keep by the sink. And it's only a 5 day cruise! 🙂 There are some pretty good travel corner organizers on Amazon! Check 'em out! That would give your fam more storage.
  5. Thank you! Very helpful! That should suffice for our family!
  6. Awesome - I had thought I had read #9 was the best! Thankfully, we'll have priority boarding, so we can head right to the shore excursion desk to try to snag it!
  7. Thanks for the feedback! I thought that might be the case as far as the cabana capacity requirements. So, good to hear that's been your experience.
  8. Off the wall question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me! 🙂 When I cruised last year on the Valor, I was surprised to find that the shower did not have the little corner shelves installed to put my shampoo/conditioner/razor stuff on. So I had to set it on the floor of the shower - which was fine. But I don't recall ever NOT having corner shelves in showers on any of my previous cruises. I did purchase a little suction-cup travel corner organizer to take with me on our next cruise. But if the showers on the Sunshine have these shelves, I'll save the space in my suitcase and leave it at home! Can anyone confirm if the Sunshine does indeed have these shower shelves?? Thank you!
  9. We have booked our first Half Moon Cay Cabana for our upcoming October cruise. A couple of questions - * I see there is a 4 person capacity. We were planning on sharing the space with the other family we are sailing with which would give us 4 adults and 2 kids. Does anyone know what the extra surcharge per person over 4 people is? Is that applicable to children (both 12 and under)? And how do they assess that fee? Will that happen on the day we are in HMC? * we don't want to be right on top of all the action right by the port area, but we don't want to be all the way at the end either. What cabana number should we shoot for? I think I read 7-9 were great locations. How far is that from the food pavilion? * We're also thinking of taking our kiddo on the stingray excursion here. Any feedback on that from those who have done it before? Thanks!
  10. Another outstanding cruise recap, Willdra! Living vicariously through you this past week or so has made me even more excited for my next cruise this October! And I will definitely be stalking the Carnival website for the release of the Celebration/Mardi Gras sailings for 2026 as I plan my big 5-0 birthday cruise extravaganza! I definitely have "ship envy!" 🤣
  11. When I was in my 20's (several decades ago!), my friends and I went to ALOT of concerts! We learned that the venue/artists hold tickets at each location for friends and family and any unused tickets would be released the evening of the show. If it was an artist we'd already seen, we would just go to the venue about 2 hours before the show started and inquire about best available seats at the ticket window. We would keep coming back every 5-10 minutes until we got the seats we wanted. Most times we ended up getting in the first 10 rows on the floor and the cost was face value! Not necessarily cheaper tickets - but good bang for your buck, for sure! Scalpers will also usually lower prices for un-bought tickets once the shows start. So that's another route to go!
  12. I have been low-key stalking CC daily waiting for this review to start! I'm totally here for it and see a mostly unproductive morning of work ahead as I catch up on the first four pages of happenings! 🙂
  13. Good morning fellow cruisers! Jasper Wade will be filling in on the Sunshine for our October cruise while the usual CD goes home for a while. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Jasper Wade?? Specifically wondering if he does the Quest game. Only had it on one cruise and it was a blast! Would love to do Quest again! 🙂 If anyone is sailing with Jasper before the October 9th cruise, would also be interested in the theme parties he does on the 5 day cruise. I know with it being October, the Halloween festivities may replace some of the normally scheduled events, but still just curious what he offers! Getting excited to cruise! 🙂
  14. I can't speak to the rest of the makeup questions you had, but I do know they will apply lashes for you! I had an appointment for an up-do on formal night when we cruised last October. I had purchased a lash kit and brought it onboard with me. But I had never applied lashes myself before. So I asked if that was something they would do and she was happy to do it. If I recall correctly, she charged me like $20 or $25 to apply them for me after my hair was done. I was ecstatic as I was nervous having to apply them myself! LOL
  15. Thank you so much! I'll keep an eye out for it when we get onboard!
  16. That would be awesome! Thank you! If you use the hub app, can you take screenshots of the activities if there aren't paper ones? Really appreciate it....and have a wonderful cruise! We can't wait to go on the Sunshine!
  17. Does anyone have a recent(ish) copy of the Camp Ocean Activity Schedule from the Sunshine? We are taking our 9 year old on the Sunshine over her school fall break this October. She hasn't been on a cruise since she was 3. I want to be able to show her all the fun activities they will do in camp - I'm sure she'll love it at her age! She loves video games, music, crafts, drawing, being active and I know she'll love the Night Owls as she loves to be up late! LOL The recent copy of the FunTimes doesn't go into detail on the camp schedule. Thank you!
  18. I'm not a fan of those braids in general and my kid wouldn't tolerate having that done! She does not enjoy braids much! She likes her hair down mostly unless she's running around playing then it's a ponytail for her! Thinking that having some nice curls put in it for her would be fun!
  19. That would be awesome and she would love it! She just had her first professional pedicure with her aunt who was visiting recently and she LOVED it! I'll keep an eye out for that!
  20. Thank you! I didn't think there was an age limit as on the online booking page, it just says that appointments for those under 18 cannot be booked online and have to be booked in person once onboard. So that led me to believe her age wouldn't be an issue. We'll go right to the salon when we board to try to get her booked at the same time (or near to) my appointment.
  21. Thanks! I am totally ok with paying it as we have plenty of OBC to spend! Plus my kiddo has pretty difficult hair to work with (for a non-hair stylist like myself LOL). I will be having to spend a lot of time the other evenings drying and styling it (at a minimum flat ironing or curling it) so having one night I don't have to do it would be worth the cost to me! Plus, I think it would be a fun mom/daughter thing to do together! The reason her hair is so difficult is because she has several larger pieces of hair that are very frizzy. My hair stylist says its like a birthmark. If you know Stacy London from What Not to Wear who had that grey streak in her hair...it's kind of like that. The hair in these spots is a different texture than the rest of her hair. If I let her hair air dry, especially in a more humid climate, these spots get super puffy and frizzy. She can be self-conscious about her hair so I try to take the time to dry it and run the flat iron over those spots when we can. At home, I try to only do this a few times a week. But being on a cruise, she'll be swimming alot and so she'll have to wash her hair every night before dinner. I appreciate your feedback!
  22. Has anyone had any experience with taking their daughters to the salon to get their hair done on formal night? I did this myself for the first time on my last cruise and now for me, it'll be a must do each cruise! It was so nice to not have to style my hair one night and also get a fun up-do that I would never be able to do on myself! Our next cruise will include our daughter, who will be 9 at the time of sailing. I was thinking this would be a fun thing for us to do together! I have already booked my appointment online, but thought I would go to the salon upon boarding and get her booked at/near the same time. Does any one have any experience having a younger child's hair done at the salon? Is the pricing the same as an adult hair service? Thanks!
  23. Going on the Sunshine in October - can anyone tell me what food options they have available at Java Blue on this ship? Is it just the pastries? Or do they have some breakfast sandwiches? Looking specifically at options on debarkation day!
  24. Looking at dining options for our October Sunshine cruise and thinking of doing the Steakhouse one night. I've already booked Ji Ji Asian Kitchen for the hubby and I and plan to send our 9 year old daughter to dinner at Camp Ocean that night to give us one adults only dinner during this cruise. If we do the steakhouse, we would bring her with us. She is a pretty adventurous eater for a 9 year old. Likes most veggies and most types of meat and loves sushi! So I'm certain she would find something at the steakhouse that she likes. I see there is an option for kids under 11 to order off of a Kid's Menu. Does anyone have a copy of the steakhouse kids menu they can share? Is it the same kid's menu they offer in the main dining room? Or do they have other options here for kids? Thanks!
  25. I am REALLY REALLY hoping the new menus will be expanded to the Sunshine before our October cruise! 🤞 I love seeing the Pumpkin Soup and Escargot back on the menus and there are many other new offerings that looking intriguing to me! Plus it was beyond time for a general menu refresh anyway! Plus I've seen Cheesecake and Key Lime Pie back on the dessert menus! I rarely got dessert on our cruises (unless just a scoop of ice cream) as none really appealed to me and try as I might, the Melting Cake just doesn't do it for me...but Cheesecake and Key Lime Pie are two of my favorite desserts! 🙂
