  1. Exactly. It is very easy to spend CASH in Greece. If you go into a store and tell them you want to buy a 100 Euro item (or dinner in a restaurant) but only have cash, are they going to turn you away and say “no?” *****.
  2. The 150 minutes is an option you can choose for the ironic “free at sea” offering. It is free…but you have to pay tax on it. If I am upgrading to FAS+, I have to pay tax too. Do I get taxed…twice? If so, I’ll just exclude the FAS internet if I am just upgrading later to FAS+ which has unlimited.
  3. To piggyback on this: always pay in Euros, as opposed to USD, with your card. The exchange rate is terrible and Euros are the way to go. I don’t know about “many places” as I used Euros (cash) many times.
  4. My question boils down to this: you can get FAS for just booze. You can opt for the separate 150 minutes also, which you have to pay tax on. Would it be cheaper to just do FAS for drinks, but exclude the 150 minutes, and then upgrade the FAS to FAS+ which includes the unlimited internet. ultimately: if you pay for 150 and get the unlimited, are you paying more than if you just did it at the FAS level. Or is it prorated to become a “wash?” Like are you paying 75 then 25 for a total of 100, or just paying 100..,or some other number. It just seems like I’ve paid for the 150 minutes AND the unlimited internet, which makes the 150 irrelevant.
  5. I’ve been to Greece and I assure you they will take USD for tips. Now for regular purchases, yes obviously Euros are preferred (required in many/most places).
  6. If you opt for the 150 minute internet as part of “free at sea” but then upgrade to Free At Sea Plus, are you paying twice for tax? Just realized that I did this for our upcoming cruise: did the FAS, then later upgraded. Would I have been better off not opting for the 150 minutes of Internet access at all, then just doing FAS+, or is it pro-rated as like an upgrade? Likewise for the drinks, is it better to skip then do FAS+, or does it equal out?
  7. I don’t think they make their own ads, they likely use an ad agency. But the average commercial is just 30 seconds. That’s plenty of time to show quick clips from the casino, pool, a show, maybe some excursions, food, drinks, some kids smiling on the go carts, etc. Cut it up quick enough, add some music, promote some sale, etc. It doesn’t seem that difficult to make an “exciting” 30 seconds.
  8. You didn’t actually think I was being serious, did you?
  9. Because it is the completely wrong term. Is a waiter (server) the same as a bartender? No.
  10. This is what we did also. They weren’t quite as fast as the buffet, but fast enough. Plus you don’t have to aimlessly wander around looking for food and then an open table. We were there at like 5:30 one morning before a 7AM excursion.
  11. I did this tour in November. You…must…cover up, regardless of temperature. Get a pair of lightweight hiking pants, if you must.
  12. Why do you keep implying that the cleaner has such a complicated (and seemingly malicious) way of cleaning? To me the likeliest reason was they were just missed. Whether the cleaning was completed or not, those items were left in the shower. You’re making it sound like some kind of conspiracy.
  13. Yeah, SPY or VOO (or several others). SCHD is my main fund. Best part of the “dividends” from NCLH is they aren’t taxable…lol
  14. I think you’d be fine with just your card, let alone both. I ordered two coffees with just one card on the Epic like that.
  15. Well they might have cookies and hash browns. There’s 0% chance on Carnival that your Haven steward will leave a loofah in the shower.
  16. This isn’t a crime scene. The steward screwed up, wasn’t done, or was just sloppy. It’s a couple pieces of leftover garbage in the shower.
  17. I can only speak for me, but I assure you that not only have I never done this, but I don’t think the thought has ever crossed my mind.
  18. S&P index historically beats just about every financial advisor over time. I own 100 NCLH for the cruise credit.
  19. In all fairness, if anything is to be read, the current financials of NCLH (which is free and publicly available) is a much better source. I wouldn’t take anyone’s financial advice on here.
  20. This is kind of where I am. If the steward did actually miss it, I’m pretty sure it was unintentional. Have any of you missed items in your home when cleaning? I know I have. People make mistakes, especially when trying to flip multiple rooms in a hurry to get all the new guests on. Should it have been caught? Obviously, yes. Some of you make it sound like this is the Exxon Valdez disaster.
  21. Near as I can tell, the main reason is: this is Cruise Critic.
  22. Have we determined if the cabin attendant was actually done cleaning? If the person was only halfway done and had to get supplies or something and then come back, it would make sense that it wasn’t completely clean. If the OP came back in the middle of cleaning, of course it wouldn’t be completely clean. On the other hand, if the attendant showed off the room as if it was clean and the stuff was still there, that’s obviously an issue.
  23. We put our full checked (not carry-on) sized luggage under our bed in a CBS on the Sky in 2022. So your standard full-sized suitcase should fit under there.
  24. Anybody who thinks they are elite in The Haven is delusional. If you were truly “elite” you’d be on YOUR ship with your own crew, having them serve you (and only you). Having the upscale suite on a mass-market commercial cruise line with 5,000 other people isn’t even remotely close to being elite or exclusive.
