  1. I would change to the one nearest bath from reviews I’ve read also. But I don’t really feel cramped. I’m in a solo which is a shorter cabin with a queen bed. It is near the folding doors but I have no issues with the space.
  2. I forgot to take my morning meds and wanted to change into swim trunks so I snuck back into my cabin. It’s been cleaned already so i chose to hang out a bit. It is 84 right now due to rain. The rain stopped and the window is no longer locked. with the cabin set to 68, the room was fine with window and folding doors completely open for about 15 to 20 minutes. The vent does circulate air still. After that time the air is still chilled but I don’t know how long the duct work is. Since the temp dropped outside it may take longer for the duct to heat up. I will pull the thermometer out when it’s warmer outside. The gaps at the outer edges of the folding doors are bigger than I expected - almost an inch on each side plus nothing is sealed tightly. I closed blinds for about 10 more minutes and nothing is fogging up in the room besides the panes of the folding doors. For moderate climates I think all is fine with my limited experience. The big gaps likely aren’t going to trap cool air in hot heat but I will post once I know more.
  3. I brought a thermometer so I’ll see what the room temperature does
  4. I’m in a solo and the shower seemed huge for a cruise ship. Solo IV has more narrow bathroom but it felt as big as I remember on other ships. Magnetic door is unusually hard to open
  5. I started my cruise today but it’s a solo room. I was only in the room long enough to drop luggage, fill safe, and do a quick walkthrough. There are big clouds and starting to rain so window is locked. I don’t know if that’s normal in embarkation port or due to weather. Beyond feels tall and narrow to me. I like the feel of the cabin but I’ll need a better weather day to have an opinion.
  6. Seems like faulty logic at best. Ncl sells smallest inside cabins for solos for much higher than larger inside rooms. It doesn’t mean value is there - people don’t research and the algorithms see them as less supply than demand. RC is the lower class brand - the fact they put fewer on those ships probably means they expected fewer of those passengers to afford them at a premium. But supply and demand screws the numbers. I still think the majority of people are mostly indifferent until you get to the sunset balconies and such. I agree they get complaints but I doubt it’s that people expected a balcony. The photos make them fairly clear what they are.
  7. Pretty sure a balcony is considered an upgrade to an ocean view too. When you were a kid, was your cat an upgraded hamster because it wasn’t a dog?
  8. How much should one tip to have a lounger brought to my infinite balcony…uh, I mean my luxurious lanai?
  9. These are probably the people that fall off of ships leaving everyone wondering why. I haven't been in an IV yet but I've been in a balcony a few times. Almost always I meet/say hi to my neighbors to the sides because you don't have to lean at all to see each other if you are both standing at the railing. If someone is talking on a balcony next to you, you could easily join their conversation if you wanted to most of the time. I don't know about the conversation part in an IV, but you'd have to crane your neck to see down the rail. It'd still take some effort to see into the neighbors IV where there are plenty of gaps to see into a balcony next to you. Some ships may be different but this has been my experience with balconies.
  10. I sail tomorrow - and the app was populated with everything for the last few days - I even went through and filled my calendar with everything I wanted to attend. Well that is a waste of time to do in advance - I was going to check for you and they wiped it all today & I see nothing. I mainly remember seeing DJs and music in different parts of the ship. I think the pool area had DJ playing music, the bar in back had a solo performer, some solo performers in different venues in ship (I think there were 3 different soloists - guitar, piano, and something else - maybe cello).
  11. Most youtube videos suggest over 30 minutes prior at a minimum. More if you want better seats - and in Eden to consider standing room in front of any seats you choose. If someone can stand in front of you they likely will as the venues fill. The larger your group, the earlier you'll want to show. Also single people can usually find a seat where people left a space in between up til showtime in theater venues - I don't think that translates to Eden.
  12. I find celebrities site to be troublesome that is just time related. Try again on a different day and things work fine. I think it has to do when they update pricing and when many people are released to check in or blocked out from future purchases. But I try once or twice and I just call them to do whatever I'm trying to do. Much less stressful.
  13. I couldn't decide which photo to post...it must be all the excitement
  14. Too funny. I live in Texas - if you call any structure a lanai in this state, the looks/responses you'll get from natives are going to be worse than your thoughts about the word 'balcony' being used for an IV. People can be overly 'honest' in this state too.
  15. I find opinions difficult to navigate because many are unclear of this also. I like that Orville is upfront about traveling in suites so I can take that background into account. I spend lots of money on toys - like waverunners & such - but I focus on my purchases to get better value. I doubt I ever travel in a suite unless there is an incredible price tied to it. I don't think the opinion is irrelevant in this situation, but someone in suites probably appreciates extra space enough to pay extra. My opinion is going to be influenced by value every time. Right now IVs are cheaper than balconies on the Edge class - if balconies were cheaper, I'd gladly change to a balcony. But in all honesty I don't really care about anything that anyone has posted positive or negative about either except one thing - those tiny chairs. If I cared what my photos looked like, I do think the 'look' is trendy. But I don't have back problems, but as I get older small chairs do make my back hurt after an hour or so. But again, that has nothing to do with these cabins - the balconies have the same (what I believe to be) crappy chairs. I embark tomorrow - and Celebrity has responded I won't have to deal with the crappy chairs. We shall see.
  16. Oh.. let's start calling it a luxurious lanai! So tropical and vacation like. That should make everyone happy, right?
  17. And yet, I already know you were told a thousand and one (or more) & I haven't finished reading the thread past your post. lol.
  18. I book for hurricane season - cause I'm cheap! So far I've not had a rainy cruise - but one sure was windy & rocked the entire time. Warnings were posted when going on the upper deck but they never admitted to anyone being blown overboard.
  19. It is an easy fix at its core - one of the simplest issues to correct I've seen this decade, but it took employee computers down too. Companies that use this software have high security requirements so the 'backdoor' to implement the fix is the difficult part. Plus distributing to an entire workforce that is completely offline and possibly at home probably isn't a use case most companies were prepared for.
  20. It came up in first search. Whoever is the furniture buyer needs to be replaced...
  21. Oh zitsky, now you are making me have to search on the internet... 😄 I can't afford suites so I haven't researched those at all.
  22. NCL has the same rule, but I've gotten an exception twice when I've cruised on their ships - note, different line & pre-covid. But I don't blame them for having the rule because I think my cabin mate got 2 or 3 free drinks. But we only did it in casino area when the servers weren't showing up - just in case someone said something about it, I didn't want to lose my package 😄
  23. I would agree it's likely too late and costly to re-architect the E class. Hopefully the next class of ship - I don't tend to trust statements until I see it happen - she made statements about solo cabin prices & they haven't changed any. But since she has commented, they may start trying to address specific complaints - the ability to darken cabin while someone has blinds up(adding curtains), the room getting hot with the window down, etc.
  24. And just a fyi, those behind the ear nausea patches state not to drink alcohol with them. I feel like that'd be justification enough for most cruise lines.
  25. Do you agree the tiny chairs in cabins are a bad idea? I think we might all find common ground on that topic 😄
