  1. Hi, Can anyone tell me how much the taxi ride from San Juan Airport to Cruise ship will cost? Trying to figure out if it's cheaper to book thru cruise or grab a taxi. thanks.;)

Taxi ride is not far so taxi will be not too bad for the cost..

  2. Is it mandatory to take in part the safety drill on the first day?

Also if she sails at 4pm on first day. would safety drill take place after sailing or before it leaves?thanks

    Short answer.

    Yes,:) and before you sail.

  3. Hi there

I am considering a cruise to the Norweigan Fjords (first time cruise) next summer. The Celebrity Eclipse only has outdoor pools for children. They advise that the temperature of the pool is between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit which seems very cool.

Does anyone have any comments on the use of outdoor pools on the Fjords cruise - ie does anyone actually use them? Also does anyone have any specific experience of this issue on celebrity Eclipse?

    Thank you for any replies.

I have been many times and the pools are heated.

  4. I'm a member of a FB group about Carnival. One group spent the WEEKEND in St. Pete before leaving today out of Miami. They arranged for bus transport for their group. 80 miles away from POM, they had a blowout--and couldn't get another bus, cab, or shuttle service to help, as all those forms of transport were being used for the football game!!!

Last I read, they have missed the ship, as it waited an extra hour for them to get to the port, but they still weren't there.

WHY don't people plan ahead in CASE anything happens?? I would NOT plan an almost 300 mile bus trip to arrive in a port the day of a sailing, but that's just me..

I'm early, but some are "Last Minute Sally's"

  6. In January 2015, my wife and I are flying to Ft. Lauderdale the afternoon before our Eclipse cruise leaves from Miami (unfortunately, Southwest Airlines does not fly from our hometown to Miami). We will have four large suitcases plus carry-ons. The children of Israel left Egypt with less luggage.

Please let me know the easiest and least expensive way to get from the airport in Fr. Lauderdale to our hotel in Miami. Does Celebrity provide shuttle service, and if so, the day before the cruise? If not, what are the alternatives?

    Thanks.

We have used Shuttles many times.

  7. When dining in the specialty restaurants are tips included in the price?

Also even though we pre-paid our tips and have a drink package, if you want to leave something extra is the old standard of leaving on the table at dinner or at bars slipping under the corner an empty glass?

Included in the tab, I leave extra on the table.

  8. Hello all, this is my first post on the forum.

We’re overdue for a holiday (10 years since the last) and are considering splurging on a luxury cruise (which will also be our first cruise). Cunard comes to mind, but I can’t say I’ve been bowled over by the reviews for any of their fleet, though would be interested in any other line but it MUST depart and return to an English port. As we’re non-smoking vegetarians I suspect we’re going to be out of luck on both fronts, so I’m wondering if there are any cruises which will meet our unpopular criteria?

We're 55+ and intend to travel outside school holiday season 2015.

Welcome to CC, as for the vegetarian dinning, just ask.

  9. This would be for my 17 year old who does not have a drivers license, but does have a driving learning permit. It will be just the 2 of us.

We are going on a cruise in Feb to Mexico and want to be sure that she has the correct doc's to get on and off the boat.

So what would be required for a 17 year old with no drivers license?

    Thank You

    Birth certificate or passport.

  10. We've always commented that Princess had the worst coffee ever. We likened it licking the bottom of a dirty ashtray....it was that bad.

So, what happened? We were recently on the Island Princess and ordered room service just wanted some coffee, even if it was that swill they serve. What happened?? It was actually good....it was actually hot and good!

Did they change their supplier? It used to be that nasty coffee syrup -- is that a thing of the past? It certainly has improved tenfold. I was thinking of going down to the International Café but no need.

    I was so happy!!

I also love my coffee, no nasty, nasty coffee syrup. I buy the coffee card, not for the fancy coffee, but regular coffee.

  11. I just received an e-mail from Princess informing me that I have been upgraded. In this case from an inside to a obstructed ocean view located right above the casino. This is even though I had called Princess when I first made my reservation and had them mark it no upgrade.

I called Princess and they indicated that since I had called within 48 hours of the change I was guaranteed to get my original room upgrade. I hope that guarantee works better then marking the room no upgrade.

I have received upgrades and like them, keep asking your TA for one, just work with them.

  12. Just home from the Grand one night re-positioning and we had a new version of the muster drill yesterday. I apologize if this is old news but it was a first for me. On the Grand the room steward informed us taking our life jackets to the drill was optional. This was repeated with the announcements from the bridge, stating they understood many people have previously cruised so the new procedure is life jackets are optional. They recommend if it's your first cruise you should take them to try on. In the muster station the drill proceeds as normal, and the crew demonstrates how to put on the life jacket, then you can leave if you want or stay and try on your life jacket if you brought it. I thought it was really great, faster, safer for passengers (some of which can't help but drag the belt) and hope this is the new standard procedure. ;-)

Thanks for your post and the information.
