Dinner tonight was in Cosmopolitan as the ship sat in Reykjavik .

If the ship was staying late in Reykjavik then why the short golden circle tour?  I feel your concern about the tour.  We did a private tour, while lunch was included shopping stops were non existent and we had time at the key sites.

I noticed that the port of Ravenna is more then 2h from Venice.  I’ll be on this cruise next year and I’m looking may be to fly to Bologne.  Do you think it’s a good idea ? From Google Maps it’s seems to be nearest to Ravenna.  I won’t go to Venice but Bologne and Madene have Nice place to visit.

Yes it’s closer and a city I’d love to visit.  Near lots of foodie destinations too.

It was late after we ate, so when we were done, we went back to 7291. W contemplated going to the casino briefly, but he was tired and he just wanted to chillax in the cabin. That’s exactly what we did. It's hard work laying out all day eating, drinking, sleeping, and napping. Not for the weak.

It’s your body catching up after working so hard, you get on a relaxing cruise and all you want to do is chillax!

Depends on your definition of "real".

For us it's perfect: cold meats, salmon and cheeses. Croissants and rolls. Various fruits. Fresh toast if you ask. Various Danish pastries. Fresh fruit smoothies.

Lattes, capachinos, hot chocolate and pots of tea.

    Bloody Mary's, mimosas, sparkling wine.

Sometimes it's buffet style other times pre plated - it depends on where you are sailing from. If preplated they will make up plates to your specification.

The Captain's Club Host attends every day so an ideal time to talk to them about any issues or to make an appointment for later in the day.

For me it’s my ideal breakfast, sadly I’m married to an eggs & ham guy and on Summit they had a glorious baked ham in Oceanview at breakfast!

Well,  it was supposed to be a celebration cruise for our 40th anniversary, but things did not turn out as planned.

First, I will write about the positives of the cruise.

The Summit has been refitted and upgraded beautifully. The lighter color scheme, and the furnishings in many areas that offered comfortable seating were very much appreciated. We had taken two cruise previously on the Summit and realized during those cruises that the ship needed a good bit of attention.

The staff and crew on the ship were exceptional!

We have been cruising since 1987 and we cannot recall a friendlier, kinder and more helpful staff.

Kudos to Celebrity in recruiting people who are an asset to the Summit.

We were in an Aqua class cabin 9052. Apollo was our steward who took good care of the cabin and did it with kindness. The serving staff in the buffet, Al Bacio and Blu were very good.

I would like to give a shout out to the young lady who served most evenings at the dessert station in the buffet. Her smile was infectious and her heart shown through while serving those cakes!

I neglected to get her name and I feel remiss about that.

Now, for the turn of events.

On Tuesday, the first day we were docked in Bermuda, my husband took a hard fall at the Turtle Hill Golf Club on a very steep path. The result was broken ribs. This has nothing to do with the cruise or the ship. I am writing about this for two reasons.

We were taken aback by the cavalier attitude of the golf course staff regarding his fall. Not going into detail here, but the reaction was not what we have come to expect from Bermudians in all our past thirteen visits to that country.

Very disappointing to say the least.

We managed to have a pleasant remainder of the cruise. Our activities were somewhat limited as my DH needed to rest at times from his injury. We tried to make the best of the situation.

The Monday after we returned home, I was not feeling well at all. I tested Tuesday morning and it was positive for Covid. We are both recovering.

We drove to Cape Liberty , so there were no air flights or hotel stays involved. We surmise that we contracted the virus on the ship.
We washed our hands often-“washy washy” , used Putell, kept away from crowds and still succumbed to Covid. It is still out there.

The thing is,the effects of the virus are not as serious as in the beginning of the Pandemic.

My DH and I were aware of the health risks in booking this cruise.

We have been very careful these past 3+ years and have remained healthy.

Given that we are early seventies and I am asthmatic, we did not make the decision to go on the Summit lightly.

I wanted this post to be a truthful account of our cruise vacation and givie both positive and negative aspects of such a vacation

    YMMV

    MJ🙋🏻‍♀️

What a shame, we were down the hall from you in 9060.  We were at Turtle Hill on Wednesday as well.  I’ve got plantar fasciitis so we took a cart.   I think you should write to the golf course as that kind of reaction is very out of character.   I hope they called you a taxi!  Apollo was amazing

Just got back from Alaska. We went whale watching with F.I.S.H.E.S in Icy Strait, it was awesome much better than we went 3 years ago in Juneau with RCCL tour of whale watching. F.I.S.H.E.S holds 6 people compared to about 150 to 200 people, need I say more!!!

Is there a website for them?

We did this excursion through Celebrity last week. Wasn’t what we expected. Lots of vendors selling various items. Very few stores open. Lots of very loud music with various dance groups. Best part of the experience was being out after dark! Something we had not done on a cruise before due to time limitations.

note….the private ferry provided by Celebrity was clearly not up to Celebrity standards! Not a life  jacket to be seen. chairs were just folding chairs, not anchored to the floor. Upstairs the railings on the side were not up to any kind of code, anyone could have fallen off if the boat had shifted.  We have written our concerns to Celebrity.

I was on the same excursion.   I have to agree on all points.  We found a nice place Bermuda Bistro & found it was $10 drink night so had some Dark nStormies along with some food.

  8. Great review!  To anyone going don’t fret about the weather, it’s very changeable.  We enjoyed a lovely day at Horseshoe Bay on Friday while it rained at Dockyard.  We golfed 2 of the days…only rained late Thursday afternoon but cleared up in time for Harbor nights…

Does anyone know what the chair and umbrella price at Horseshoe is for this year? Trying to plan my off-ship budget for my upcoming cruise. (And also is the shuttle still $7 each way?)

    2 lounge chairs & 1 umbrella was $45

There is hand sanitizer bottles in cabin, a table full to take some ashore, no self service in buffet.
The captain mentioned “the virus” in his daily briefings and stressed hand washing.  He did not mention Covid or noro specifically although it seems more noro vibes.
My cruise in February has lots of coughing by day four and I haven’t been noticing it this time.

Agree 100%.   They are doing their best to ensure passengers wash their hands.  Although there are a few who don’t understand that the buffet is no longer self serve

    Today’s tour

So, Zakynthos is a beautiful 🤩 island.

Crystal clear water, beautiful view points, turtles 🐢 and beaches.

I really want to come back!

What’s not to like about this?😎

BUT….. I will not do a bus tour. (It’s my hate object nr 1🤣🤣🤣)

What don’t I do for the Queen? 😅🤔🤭🥰🫡

There’s plenty to see and discover, but very limited time in port. So it’s impossible to see everything.

I was very sad that we didn’t drive by shipwreck beach, so we would overlook it and have a fabulous picture from above

    😣

This tour is perfect if you are:

    -older

    -not a good walker

    -love sightseeing on bus

    -want to try meze

-want to see as much as possible in a short time

-want some smashing photos on 3 stops

-want no big activity, just meet and relax

If you want to see or crossed something on the list:

    -shipwreck beach

    -turtles

    -swim in crystal clear water

    -travel by kids/family

    -hate bigger crowds

    -don’t like bus sightseeing

    -boat tour

    This is not your tour!

    The Queen was super happy👌🏻🤩❤️

    Very satisfied!

The things we do to keep our Mums happy 😜😬
