  1. I don't think I have ever seen this problem anywhere before, but maybe you all will have some usggestions for me.

Yesterday, I tried to purchase shore excursions for an upcoming cruise. I got as far as entering my billing information. When I entered my email address, the website told me it was invalid. Now, my email address ends in @neo.rr.com Roysl's webiste insists that a valid email address has @domain.whatever I guess the extra period confuses them. I even tried DH's email address--same result.

In all my years of internet shopping and ordering on Princess and Celebrity sites, I have never been told my email address is iinvalid unless I've made a typo.

So then I went to the Contact Us section, and it refered me to my TA. Well, thanks a lot. Like they're really going to be able to help me with RCI's website issues.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

    Thanks,

    Kathy

  2. We are looking at a similar tour through Royal Caribbean. The tour description lists the activity level as "mild." but further reading says, "Not for guests with mobility issues." We are in our late 60's and both have bad knees, so long flights of stairs would be a problem, but Harrison's Cave supposedly has elevator access to the trams for people with disabilities. Does anyone who's toured the caves know of a potential problem?

  3. It all depends on the size of the ship and how many ports. We did a 5-day on Princess last March, one of their largest ships, and after 5 days, I still hadn't learned my way around the ship. There were lots of areas, including the spa, that we never made it to. Also, with 3 ports, the only sea day was the last one, when we were busy packing. It wasn't as relaxing a vacation as I'd hoped, although we did get away from the miserable winter weather.

  4. Does the Replenish package also include sodas? As people have commented, the website isn't very clear about what's included. I usually have a soda with lunch but am more flexible at other times.

Also, does Cafe Latitudes have flavored iced coffee to go? Our room is right down the hall, and I enjoy an icy (non-alchoholic) beverage on the balcony every day at sailaway. Since we don't have a fridge in our room, this would be an easier way for me to get my relaxation fixthan finding a bar and bringing back a soda.

Thanks to the OP for the detailed list and to everyone for their helpful responses.

  5. On our last cruise, we had breakfast one morning with a bunch of other seniors, and were discussing our medications. One man was a retired pharmacist, and he said, for a short-term fix, put the medication in a glass and set it in the ice bucket, with ice half-way up the outside of the glass. That will keep it cool overnight. It wouldn't work for a long-term power failure though.

  6. We've done the paddle wheel boat/Las Olas tour and found it very enjoyable. We used luggage valet so all we had to keep track of were our carry-ons. BUT they do drop you off at FLL around 1:30, so that's a heck of a long time to wait for an evening flight. I'd certainly check into the cost of using luggage valet and rent a van for the day.

  7. If keeping the meds cool is very important then consider talking a frio bag with you- we always take one to any hot (or very cold places to stop freezing- used in the atric) in case there is a power cut and the fridges stop working (esp relavent on a cruise or in developing countries. My daughter is talking hers camping next week.

Frio bags are made of a gel that is activated by soaking on cool water - the slow evaporation of this gels keeps the contents cool.-

I never head of a frio bag. Where do you get them?

  8. Thanks to all of you. I've only sailed Celebrity and Princess, so my experience with the minifridges is that they do keep things cold enough (around 40 degrees F), but I'm probably better off with a medical fridge anyways. If I were only needing to keep it cold for 1 night, I'd go with the cooler and ice, but since it's an 11-night cruise, I think I'd feel safer with a special fridge.

At least it solves the issue of whether or not to bring our own Coke Zero on board--nowhere to keep it cool so why bother.

  9. First of all, thanks to whoever posted that RCI removed the mini-fridges from the E class cabins when they renovated the Legend of the Seas. Since I need a fridge to keep some medication cool, I would have been up a creek if I'd gotten on board and not had something to keep it in. As it was, my TA was able to request a medical refrigerator for us.

So my question is, what size is the refrigerator? The medication is in a box about 5" x 7" x 1", but I'm wondering how much space the fridge itself takes up, and where do they put it? Also, since it's something I use on Tuesdays, can I ask them to remove it once I'm done with it?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

  10. While we were visitng the Panama Canal, DH accidentally got pushed and fell and cut his head, requiring 6 stitches. The medical personnel took excellent care of him, and never charged us a cent. They said the most common emergency they see is cuts, expecially crew members handling broken glass.

The public busses stop running after Columbus Day (which is also Canadian Thanksgiving), but the public highways around the park never close. We were there during the government shutdown and took the Olly's Trolley tour. They took us all around the perimeter of the park with several extra or longer photo stops. (The ship cancelled all their tours.)

In Halifax, there is a public bus which runs three loops to various sites around the city. It's a hop on hop off deal, so you can get off and visit whatever catches your interest. The Citadel was fantastic--plan to get there for the chainging of the guard and firing of the noon cannon. (Adnussuib fee)

The only day we had bad weather was Portland, where it was foggy and damp.

As others have said, dress in layers and plan to buy some souvenir sweatshirts.

  12. Forgive me if this has been asked before, but how does Royal handle payments for shore excursions? Do you pay when you book them, as with Celebrity, or when you take them? We are seniors and are willing to pay the extra for peace of mind and to let someone else handle all the details, so we usually book through the ship.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

  13. This will be our second visit to Antigua. We are seniors and have some mobility issues--bum knees for both of us. Due to medications which make us very sensitive to sun exposure, we are not beach people. On our first visit, we took a tour to Nelson's Dockyard, the Blockhouse, and Shirley Heights. Does anyone have any other "must see" suggestions for us? Tours that go other places? Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated.

  14. K thxs :) just one more question what kind of movies did they play on the movies under the stars?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

MUTS were Gravity, Philomena (Judi Dench), a James Taylor concert, and Captain Phillips. They were also repeated the following day in the Princess Theater in the afternoon. Other movies and concerts, including Top Gun, were shown during the day on the MUTS screen.

  15. Hi Morgsmom, thank you for posting the review and offering to answer questions. I too, would like to know about the beds. Have they been replaced with the new pillow top?

Most emphatically NO. Although we prefer a hard mattress, these were too hard for us. I was afraid to request an egg carton topper though, lest it make the bed too soft.

And the pillows were terrible. I have allergies, so I always ask the steward to replace the feather ones with hypo-allergenic ones. These were stuffed with shredded foam and were extremely lumpy. That's about the only reason we were glad this was only a 5-nighter.

By the way, we were on the Mar. 10 cruise, and the CD said only 19 people were staying for the next segment.
