  1. You know, my first cruise on the Celebrity Mercury in 2003 had a T-pool that discolored my new Ralph Lauren swim trunks!!  I was told by another pax that this was to be expected.  I was not happy.

But then, for the next several years, I cruised on ships that did not have a T-pool, and I was even more unhappy....

Finally cruise on a ship with a T-pool, a Costa ship that had a T-pool.  did not discolor my trunks, I was surprised and happy...

Will see what happens on the MSC Meraviglia next September..... happy or not!!

    Happy Cruising,

  2. Thx...

Had to look that one up previously to see what was above me when I was booking a suite on deck 16.  Originally thought, "They have a crew deck or mechanical deck in the middle of the Yacht Club?  How odd??"

Found the thread on superstitions and deck "17"....

  3. Hi everyone,

We are 2 adults Traveling on the MSC Meraviglia for a 17 night westbound transatlantic.

Am debating and vacillating between a Duplex Suite and a YC1 Deluxe Suite.

There are pros and cons with each, and I'm totally overwhelmed as which to pick.

The Duplex Suite has so much room, but it is not in the Yacht Club.

The YC1 is in the Yacht Club, but it is so small and the storage space looks very, very limited!!

Any help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Also, with the Aurea Experience, we understand there is a designated section of the dining room for us to eat dinner??  What about breakfast and lunches??

    Thank you

    TnT

Instead of using the "apply now" section on the website, I just emailed the Voyagers club directly. I attached two screen shots of my full name, status (D+) and points. After more than two weeks I received an email saying since I didnt have a cruise booked with them they can't status match me. Huh? Didn't know that was a requirement. They told me to resend everything when I have a booking.  We have since decided not to try MSC and stick with our favorites.

Curious as to a screen shot of what, specifically?

The only info I could get up on either Royal or Celebrity was spaced out over 3 pages, nothing shoed all the info they wanted on 1 page.  Am I missing something?

    Thx

Have you found that any hospital has required more than $50k ?

In 2014, just after boarding the ship, I experienced chest pain.  Off the ship and to the private hospital in Barcelona.  One cardiac stent and four days later, before being discharged, had to pay approx. €33,000 (approx. $39,000) on a credit card.  Was reimbursed by my primary insurance once I submitted all their required paperwork.

As I came to understand, most travel insurance is secondary, meaning they will pay after your primary insurance has been billed.  Primary medical travel insurance pays first, but is extremely expensive I've been told!

If you're unsure what you are buying or need, ask, ask, ask!!

    Happy Cruising

Can I ask what you emailed them? The Celebrity and Captains club main page only shows my first name along with status and points. I can’t fit all the info they are asking for in one photo. Thank you!

I'm in the same boat as you!  No matter where I go on that website, I cannot get all the info they want on one page.....  Have looked at every tab and section I can pull up-no luck.  Tried on Royal Caribbean and it's the same issue.  Anyone have any other suggestions??

    Thanks!

  7. My apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I'll be darned if I can find a search feature on these new boards!!

Could someone please explain the perks staying in a suite on the Star Legend?

Thank you in advance for your help....

  8. Wish you were on this ship Chief!

We now have little marks in pen on both the hot and cold faucets to mark where we should turn each to. Really really stupid and a futile attempt to correct the problem. If you deviate from these marks the fluctuating problem returns🙄

If Royal is not going to keep up these ships, then they should sell them off....

  9. Wouldn’t normally be such a huge issue, but the fluctuations have gone from almost cold to a scalding 63 c (or 145 f). (Measured by maintenance personnel). Can scald in 6 seconds😳

Maintenance just left with a work around to the problem.

So may be able to shower in my own cabin for the first time in 7 days.....

  10. Currently on Brilliance, in a GS, and have no way to control or maintain water temperature in our shower.😳

Appears repairs can only be done once we reach Tampa on the 17th.

We are booked on the following 5 day cruise in the same suite😳😳

    Not happy.....

Anyone else have this issue in thier cabin??

  11. I’m thinking if I have to bring my own shower curtain on a cruise that costs thousands, it’s time to change ships! [emoji3] Just saying.

I know what you are saying:

Currently on Brilliance on a b2b (21 days).

Problem with shower diverter, unable to control or maintain water temperature.

No way to fix, it appears, until we get into Tampa on the 17th😳

Not acceptable especially in a GS!

    Definately not happy.....

  12. And she did state, "I fell off the back of the Norwegian Star and I was in the water for 10 hours, so these wonderful guys rescued me," she told HRT, Croatia's state television network.

You don't just fall off a cruise ship, you need to climb up where you shouldn't, for whatever reason, then you can fall. Or be at a railing during a severe storm

It's the why you climbed where you shouldn't have that needs to be addressed.

And what the repercussions could or should be, if warranted.

  13. To answer the OP's question: Staff usually does not enforce the suggested MDR attire for the evening, (with the exception of wet bathing wear). What I have personally observed is that the Main Dining Room attire suggestions are usually observed by more passengers on longer and/or European cruises than shorter and/or Caribbean cruises.

That being said, wear what YOU feel comfortable wearing. If you feel comfortable wearing casual clothes while others are dressed more formally, then go for it. If, on the other hand, you would feel uncomfortable wearing casual clothes while others are not, well that's up to you to remedy the situation. Personally, I like being a little more overdressed than underdressed.

You will see passengers on both extremes of the clothing spectrum-find YOUR happy place!

    Have a great cruise!:)

  14. Sadly we had a really bad experience with fine wine on the Indy in Chops: Were served 2 bottles in a row of corked Caymus Private Reserve CS. Finally picked a Chilean Pinot Noir, which was fabulous and about 1/5th the price of the Caymus.

Was told by friends in the business later that cruise ships may not be the best place to buy really fine wines, as they often don't store them correctly.... too bad...

  15. I e-mailed them on 8/6 for our 9/1 Brilliance cruise, requesting a table for 2. Two days later I received a cc: of an e-mail that the RCL rep sent to the ship. The next day I received an e-mail from the ship saying the request was confirmed and it contained a list of our reservation and table number.

Same here. Emailed RCI on 8/05 received confirmation back from Brilliance on 8/07-showing table number.

  16. I already am thinking JS is the way to go but want to put it to the experts. The price to upgrade from OV Balcony to JS is $937. For whatever reason, the price to upgrade to W (guaranteed Suite) is $1987.

Now obviously the JS is a guarantee and the W is a gamble. Would you gamble a $1000 for a chance at something higher?

    TIA

I, personally wouldn't gamble the $1000 when you may end up with a JS anyway-but, then again, if you don't gamble, you won't know for sure how it would end up?

Also, with the JS you could pick your cabin/location.

Likewise, only YOU can decide if you are comfortable spending more for your cruise and if the benefits outweigh the costs. Could be cruising time is very valuable to you and you want to make the most of each and every cruise you take-which could make cost less important to you. Not a bad thing. Others may enjoy a cruise more if they pay less than a certain amount for it. Not a bad thing either.

You will find as many opinions on cruise costs/budgets as you will on cruise food and what to wear in the MDR.

Isn't it nice that we all have options?

Happy cruising and enjoy your cruise no matter your decision!
