Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I've had it split and not split and can't figure out their reasoning. I'm the only stockholder and I was Guest 1 for all three cruises Cruise 1 with friend - I got the full $100 Cruise 2 with mom - I got the full $100 Cruise 3 with mom - we each got $50 I've also received it for my solo cruises and I did not pay 200% The shortest time frame I sent it in was 4 days prior to my cruise. I brought my paperwork with me and checked in at Guest Services on day 3. He came back and told me it was already credited to my account. Sure enough, it was on my onboard account. I had checked when I left the cabin, so Miami was probably adding it while I was in line.
  2. Here is where we stand... a few months later. Cruise was 11/11-11/14. Friend was seen by a doctor and had a diagnosis with a travel restriction effective 11/10. On 11/13, I received $6.56 back to my credit card from Carnival with no explanation of what it was. At some point in November, she received $100 from AON From November to last week, there were multiple emails and phone calss back and forth between my friend/Carnival/AON This past week (3/29), Carnival stated that I had been refunded $146 for the port taxes, fees, etc. and that now that their portion was complete, she had to contact AON to reopen the case and pay the rest. On 3/31, the refund hit my cc account. I also found out the $6 from November was hers, so I paid her the $152 that I was refunded. She called AON on 3/30 and let them know that Carnival had amended the case. AON will now finish out the claim and apparently pay her the rest directly... if by chance it comes to my CC instead, then I'll pay her back. Ultimately, it sounds like she is getting a refund for the entire fare she paid (about $590) with some coming from Carnival and some coming from AON.
  3. Fair point, but as a solo traveler, I'd honestly rather save some money if I can. $30 compared to $60-$75 which is what I've seen is the average price for a Lyft. But, it could definitely be an option. If I were traveling with someone else, I'd definitely take Lyft/Uber as I'd be splitting the cost.
  4. Hello! My flight arrives at MCO around 7pm on Saturday evening and my cruise departs from Port Canaveral on Sunday (NCL Prima). I have a reservation at an airport area hotel with a free airport shuttle. I'm looking into booking GoPort to get to the cruise ship on Sunday morning but debating two options. My goal is to get to the ship as early as possible. Option 1) Take the airport shuttle for $30. The website says that the first shuttle leaves at 10am. I'm not sure how early I should get there to be on that first shuttle - is there normally a line? Does it fill quickly or could we be sitting around waiting for a long time? Option 2) Take the shuttle that picks you up at your hotel for $35. It says that you'll be picked up between 9:30-10:30am, but you won't know what stop you are until that morning. The $5 is insignificant, I just wasn't sure how many stops it made and if it might get there faster than the shuttle leaving from the airport. I'm only using GoPort (or possibly another company) one-way as I'll use the NCL shuttle to go back to MCO.
  5. I'm just trying to help her out if I can. We can't seem to get any kind of straight answer on why she can't get a refund since it all seems to follow their policy. We are actually back on the same ship next weekend for the exact same cruise and might just try to talk to people there to see if anyone can help us figure out what happened. Ultimately, I'd like her to get her money back.
  6. I definitely understand that and wasn't trying to get a balcony room by myself (though it was nice). But, this is what it says in the policy which is what I found last night after doing more research. Wouldn't the highlighted part at the bottom mean that I *don't* have to pay a single supplement. Should I be the one seeking a refund then?
  7. How does the highlighted part of the cancellation insurance factor in. I understand that I traveled alone, but to me, the highlighted part is saying that if my travel companion cancels for a valid reason (illness), that I should NOT have to pay a single supplement.
  8. Sadly that is not the information that we were told. She did call the insurance company on the departure date because they sent the medical form she needed to get completed by her doctor. She's still trying to resolve it and I'm not sure what our next steps. I paid in full and she paid me, so if she gets nothing back from Carnival, do I pay her back and then my trip ended up costing double? Do I have any recourse? This whole thing is just really frustrating.
  9. Last November, my friend and I booked a quick weekend cruise to Mexico. We both paid the insurance. The day before the cruise, my friend was sick and took the day off work. I called Carnival to ask about options if she did not go on the cruise. I was told that we could both cancel (cancel the room entirely), I could pay $100 to swap her with another person, or I could go on my own and she could file a claim for her portion (minus the $49 insurance). The next morning, she was still sick, so I went without her. After I checked in, I went to the guest services desk (still in the terminal, not on the ship) and told them she wasn't coming and asked what we needed to do. They stated that they would remove her from the roster. I again asked about the insurance and they said she could file a claim. For the last two months she's been trying to get a refund for her portion. She is getting back $100 from the insurance company and was told the rest would have to come from Carnival. They are saying that because she was a "no show" and I still went, that she doesn't get anything back. She asked for the written policy and they couldn't provide anything and I can't find anything about one person sailing and the other guest in the room not sailing. Has anyone had this experience? Is there another route we should pursue? And if she can't get a refund, do I pay back what she paid me and basically the cruise cost me double than I planned?
  10. Do you remember the price? Was it the same as the bigger ships ($329 is what I'm paying for Prima 7 days)
  11. Are the last two pictures the co-ed area? I didn't realize the uni-sex areas were clothing optional, that's good to know. I'm curious if the price is the same as the Bliss for example that had many more options - more loungers, different types of rooms (snow, salt, etc.)
  12. No, when I went 12/18-12/23, we embarked at pier 91 I think (Princess was also there at 92 maybe). But, when we returned, Royal Caribbean was at 91, so we docked at pier 50. But, our luggage was over at Pier 46 which was just across the big parking lot, but we weren't allowed to walk there. So, we had to put our luggage out the night before (our plan was to just walk off with luggage, assuming we were back at 91). Then, we waited forever for our group to be called, walked off, took a bus to the other side of the pier area, found our luggage, got in another long line to take the bus back to pier 91/92 so that we could get a Lyft to the airport. No rideshare drivers were allowed to come to where we actually got off the ship or got our luggage. It made for quite a long process. The only main "positive" was that it was not raining on 12/23. Others that had a similar situation had to do it with rain.
  13. We are traveling on the Jewel for the first time in May. I always book the Thermal Suite when available. The price is not showing online (it says to book once onboard) but it looking at the deck plans, it looks very different than other ships. It looks like their are different hot tubs, steam rooms, etc. for men and women within their respective locker room areas and then one shared pool with the heated loungers, so if you want to move between them, you have to go in and out of the locker rooms. Compared to some other ships, it looks like a smaller offering. For those that have been in the Thermal Suite in the Jewel, do you remember what it cost for one week? Did you find it enjoyable? Were there more people in the co-ed area compared to the single-gender areas?
  14. The brand is Beis - it's a bit pricy, but I have their luggage and I was wanting free shipping when I bought a couple other things, so I added it to my cart lol. BUT... Amazon sells similar items. Just search "Water bottle sling bag" and you'll see a bunch of options.
  15. If you arrive on the same day, they provide the shuttle. If you arrive a day (or two) early, it is refunded. I'm coming in a day early and was specifically told that I need to book my own hotel and transportation to the port. NCL will get me back to the airport when the cruise docks.
