  1. This is an old post, but I just had to respond.

Enjoy Boston! I love this city !!  ..lived nearby all my life.  Learn so much history ! Eat! Walk! Shop!

Take a "Duck Tour"...google it to find the best pickup point.  You will see and learn much and can be

have quite fun with the entertaining guides and drivers.

If Hop-on-hop-off is available at the port, do take that if you are comfortable doing some leisure touring somewhat by yourself...but familiarize yourself with most stops you may be interested in.   If you don't want to bus back to the port, hail a taxi or Uber...the port is never very far away.

Great museums, but time consuming:  N.E. Aquarium, JFK Library, Museum of Science, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Public Library.....

  2. Not sure if this is permitted here, but giving it a try.

A Golden Circle Tour from Reykjavik is on my to-do list in August.  Deciding on a particular company to go with is the task at hand.  So looking for opinions/suggestion for a full day tour, preferably with a small group (mini bus ). One option as of now : BACK to ICELAND TRAVEL for 8 hour tour......

TRIP ADVISOR obviously has suggestions...so may to choose from and reviews can be so subjective.   Thanks for any input.

  3. Reasonable, I am sure, barring any flight delays!  Our Reykjavik to Boston is booked for this coming August (2022).  We are planning to spend 2 nights in Reykjavik before the cruise...never been to Iceland.     From what i have read, even that might not be enough time to enjoy so much to see there!  But why go there and only see the airport and cruise terminal??  For now, our itinerary is :    1st day...arrive around 6AM, to Blue Lagoon from airport then on to a Reykjavik hotel for the night.  2nd. day..Golden Circle tour.  3rd day...leisurely morning then to cruise port.  With long daylight, we should be able to enjoy the city sights and life,  dinners, shopping, etc.  (And probably throw in a nap to conquer jet lag!)

  4. We will be taking the Blue Lagoon's transfer bus into the city after visiting the Lagoon on our way from the airport.  There are several drop-off locations, but being unfamiliar with Reykjavik I wonder if anybody has used the shuttle and where might be a convenient stop.  Have not made any hotel reservations yet, but I think I'd do so near a Lagoon bus stop to make walking with luggage less of an issue. (Won't list stops here, since anybody who might reply would know the route. Correct?)

  5. We also are not picky eaters, but of course love going "gourmet", so have found the variety of dining choices serve us quite well!

However, finding cruising the best relaxing kind of vacation, we have turned to almost strictly room service for breakfast...even if just for the "free" breakfast offerings.  On a nice morning anywhere, "Sunday morning on a balcony" is a wonderful way to start the day! (But even an inside cabin can be just as cozy with a breakfast in bed!!)  No need to rise and at least minimally spruce up in order to go out for coffee etc.  No need to rush the morning on sea days.  Read the morning paper and check off the day's to-do list.  Now you can tidy up and head out for an adventure!

  6. We have booked a "guaranteed", no obstruction, veranda stateroom for a summer 2022 cruise... a specific one was not available at the time of  booking.   Was told we would get an upgrade if nothing becomes available in our category.  We are not at all fussy about location as long as we get a veranda with no obstruction.

In the past, we have always booked a specific stateroom.  Will appreciate comments/opinions from anybody with the experience of booking with a guaranteed stateroom.

  7. Great news...good perseverance! Hope you got an adjusted/edited invoice to print out. In the past, we have occasionally found better rates after booking on RCCL, called and got adjustments.  I check the cruise line's web site frequently for "specials".

  9. I will appreciate suggestions for travel from Iceland's international airport to the Blue Lagoon, then on into Reykjavik.

As of now, assuming our flight arrival will be early morning and hotel check-in will be in the middle to late afternoon, it seems the Blue Lagoon visit from the airport makes some sense.  (Providing luggage storage won't be an issue at the lagoon.)  Agree??

  10.    Suggestions for a doable 2 day itinerary in August....arriving Reykjavik airport early morning....2 nights in Reykjavik before a 4PM cruise departure.

First time to Iceland !  Never too soon to start planning!

Day one:  Morning arrival...Reykjavik Airport to Blue Lagoon on the way to hotel in Reykjavik...transportation?...luggage storage?

Afternoon...transportation to a Reykjavik hotel from Blue Lagoon ?  Hotel suggestions?

                     Evening...explore city

Day two:   A good tour to south coast?

                       Evening ?

Day three:  Quiet morning then to cruise ship midday.
