  1. Dress code discussions have run the gamut, so here’s my input:

On Enchantment now.  If anyone is worried about a dress code… it seems there is nothing to stress over! We dress “smart casual “ for the MDR each night… as we would for any restaurant at home.  Never go the formal route. Our choice. The food has been surprisingly good and doesn’t change for me regardless of what others are wearing.  And I don’t judge what others are wearing. Friendly smiles, good manners, and respect to staff is what counts!

But for those of you worried about the dress code….don’t stress!  Obviously the days of strict codes are gone. This week we have seen dinner guests in shorts and Ts, jeans and plaids, sparkle and suits, khakis and polos, shoes, sanders, flip flops…

Just be courteous and crew will respond accordingly!

  2. There is a stark difference between the two sides of Aruba.  The cruiseport, resort areas and beaches are gorgeous with gentle breezes.  While the “other side” of Aruba is very beautiful in a rugged sort of way, it is NOT a place to swim !  The ocean is extremely rough and dangerous….. powerful waves and undercurrents !!  Take in the beauty from the coves, just not in the water!    Save your swims for BabyBeach, Eagle Beach, or the likes, to enjoy swimming. Always pack a full water bottle, a hat and sunblock!

  3. The seaweed/sargassum issue is real.  Hopefully not to the point of affecting cruise destinations, but if it does, prepare for a dry, scratchy throat and cough.  And you won’t want to walk thru it !!
Experienced it a few years back when FtMyers Beach was covered with the stuff(red tide but like sargassum).  Dead fish everywhere, and yucky smell.  No coughing as close as a few hundred yards from the beach.  Environmental “issues” prevented removal until it piled up disgustingly.  Some resorts tried to bury it but to no avail as “ Mother Nature “ uncovered it!    Good luck cruisers… and to me who will be cruising in April!

  4. Might not be self conscious wearing shorts to the main dining room, but rather unusual.  I strongly doubt one would be turned away unless in a bathing suit.   But to better answer the question: “formal “ nights are now quite relaxed with “smart casual “ more the norm.  I liken it to appropriate office wear.

  5. My incomplete SetSailPass indicates gty deck 7 Muster Station 010.   No numbers on the bar code yet.   Since cruise date is 5 weeks away, I am not in a panic, but perhaps someone has an idea where our balcony stateroom might be located .    Just an estimate would be interesting.

(First time booking a guarantee instead of the usual cabin selection…hopefully not in for a disappointment despite not being crazy fussy)

  6. We enjoy boarding asap…often by 11AM…go directly to MDR to tweek reservations and scope out our table…wander up to the Viking CrownLounge to sit… one of us goes to grab coffees and a snack to bring back and enjoy in the basic solitude away from buffets/crowds while playing cards, reading, napping.   The calmness and the view welcomes us to vacation!  On an inclement day we might be found doing same in the solarium or perhaps a quiet lounge.  If boredom should happen to set in, we can always go for a walk. 😉

  7. All set with the wash and fold laundry service,  but wondering if I can get a few items pressed once I unpack my luggage (dress shirts perhaps).  I will gladly tip my cabin attendant if that's a possibility (allowed?)

I used to pack my little travel iron, but no more since it was discovered, and I was called to the "naughty room" to claim my luggage!  😒
