  1. We were on Sunshine and they heated the main pool. Even though it was not covered, and some days were cool and misty, we were able to use the pool everyday. In fact one day it was actually hot, like a hot tub. But they lowered it to a reasonable warmth the next day. We had this and the worst part was walking on deck and the fog horn would go off--it was loud and startling! Never heard it when we were in our middeck inside cabin. Very much enjoyed Halifax. Check out the Citadel if you have any interest in military history,
  2. I found it helpful to read other people's accounts so thought I would share ours. It was on the Elation and though it may be the oldest unrefurbished ship in the fleet we loved the cruises VERY much. We received a standard letter in the room the final sea day directing us to go to one of the lounges the next morning at 9:15. There were also transit passes if we wanted to leave after docking to explore Jacksonville. It directed us to contact our current room steward if we needed help if we were switching rooms. Thankfully we were not and left our usual mess 🙂 in the room. After breakfast we went to the meeting lounge and there was the standard setup of breakfast pastries, water, juice, coffee and tea. There were 60 of us so no group picture but there was the Cruise Enjoy Repeat sign and the photographer took an individual picture of us together next to it and sent us each a complimentary photo to our room a few days later. The hotel director also sent us a small fruit basket and the bottle of champagne they normally give out. 2 employees came around with the scanner they use when debarking and scanned our old cards and gave us the envelope with the new ones. Probably around 9:30 then and they were still calling late zones but we were free to leave the lounge and roam around the ship. Around 10 I went to guest services to apply some gift cards but our new folio was not active yet so they said to come back later. Also was not working at the kiosk yet. That was where debarking was and I saw and chatted with the cruise director and a port services guy. He said they normally clear the ship by 9:45 but there was a 15 minute delay. 2 passengers had not left and they checked their room and found them hung over. Must have been a blockbuster night as he said they were brought to medical. He did say that since they were accounted for the ship was officially cleared even though they were still temporarily aboard, and boarding would begin at the usual 10:45. Bopped around the eerily empty ship a bit and then stopped by the lounge again. In the time I had left they broke about champagne and mimosas with filled glasses and opened bottles sitting out. Sat down with a few other guests I recognized, who brought some of the bottles to our table, more people joined us, and we had a good time! Finally about 11 people were walking in with their boarding passes and an employee said we needed to leave since that lounge was a muster station. We decided to get our own muster out of the way for this cruise and went to our muster station but it would not read our cards. Employee said that sometimes happens for a while with B2Bers and we should come back later and we did about an hour later and it did then. Dont remember when we went back to our room but when we did the card worked. As for the experience of being on our first B2B it was a 5 day followed by a 7 day. They seemed different which was nice since 2 of the 3 ports were different on the 7 day, there were 2 additional menus at dinner, of course the passengers had turned over, and we even had a new steward. The only issues that had cropped up was midway during the first cruise the assistant maitre D asked about our dining preferences and we requested the same early seating and table which he later confirmed. But when we got our new cards they assigned us to a different table in a different section. We went to Dining Inquiries and our original table was taken but they were able to seat us there as they switched the table number for us. So our old table number was at a different table and our new unused number was at our original table. The steward also did not make up our room on embarkation day even though we had evening service. He apologized the next day and it was no big deal. That is about all I can remember but feel free to ask any questions.
  3. We are on the June cruise with you, saw you on the roll call, had originally booked the Magic. Also booked a Feb 2024, there are some great itineraries on those long cruises out of NYC. Ports Carnival typically does not go to. They all look good, as Jamman said, go for it!
  4. Excited for the ports, Carnival usually does not go to them and we have not been to 3 of these. It will be nice to escape half of a NY February. We will be on the first Caribbean Venezia sailing in June and will report back on it. Was originally on the Magic but the ship was repositioned. Saw this Journeys cruise and jumped on it, so hopefully the Venezia will live up to its billing. Looks beautiful.
  5. This is what I was thinking, just have to treat this booking like it is a guarantee. Luckily we did not get a special room this cruise, but I still select the location, make sure it is not under a public area, etc. But if we are essentially getting a guarantee, they should give some sort of OBC. I also wonder if we are unhappy with the assignment, how easy it will be to change it. Also when they gave us a date, they should have given one they would have been sure to meet. Now people on other groups are saying it will be out by the end of the week. SMH If we miss a due date, they are not very understanding...
  6. I wonder how much of a Costa experience this will be versus Carnival, have they said? My questions/concerns, will they still have the Carnival menus, chocolate melting cake, seaday brunch? Cupid shuffle at a sailaway party? I am ok with some changes, that might even be nice, but I want to feel I am on a Carnival ship with a Carnival experience. There are some new itineraries I am interested in and the pricing is good, but I would like to know more about the onboard product.
  7. This is 1000 times easier when there are constraints for work or school and there are only certain weeks or a single week in a month when you can go. Definitely going to save this. THANKS
  8. The original past guest program did not have a Diamond level, but yes was 10 cruises to platinum. When VIFP was rolled out, while it became 75 days to platinum, existing platinum cruisers were grandfathered. But the new Diamond level was set at 200 days at its introduction.
  9. Have you considered Baltimore? It is only a 3 hour drive from NYC and has year round sailing. Itineraries are not the best and repetitive, though there are a few that hit Bermuda or the Caribbean and skip the Bahamas. Spirit class has some unique features as well.
  10. JUST WORKED FOR ME! Like many of you I have been trying for days, even this morning. But I have been making a habit of checking and it went through and I even got the confirmation emails for my orders. Good because I have a couple final payments coming due and want to put a deposit down on another cruise.
  11. We were also on the Magic and the "evening" movies seemed to be at 6, 6:30 or 7. They also were not that good and not worth skipping the MDR or rushing dinner over. Prepandemic I had memorable movie experencies, especially the Martian where the space scenes from the movie seemlessly blended into the night sky. Also saw Black Panther and Hidden Figures. San Andreas Fault wasnt a masterpiece but was kind of fun seeing on the big screen outdoors.
  12. Havent had Guys in awhile, found them too greasy, probably for about 5 years. But I thought I would try the Funderstruck burger and loved it. Even had it on another day. For however long they keep it, I will be visiting Guys at least once per cruise.
  13. I wonder if it had to do with the age of the ship at the time. Destiny was one of the newest then. We were on the Festivale, they probably would not have retrofitted all the doors, perhaps not the Holiday as well.
  14. Don't have any from the 90s or a 2001 cruise. Not sure if we did not save them or we were still using the physical metal room keys then. I am not referring to the dining assignment cards they gave out back then, but the card we now swipe with to open the doors. Who has the oldest or remembers when they began?
  15. There were 4300 guests with about 1800 blue, 1200 red, 1000 gold, 250 platinum and 28 diamond. He was not feeling well and eventually tested positive for covid. Cheeky had been scheduled for vacation so this was her last week. While not a cruise director, she told me she had subbed once before when the CD had a death in the family.
  16. Have not seen this in a very long time. On an 8 day Magic earlier this month there were 2 sea days starting out and 2 at the end. So we went to the SDB 3 times (LOVE the french toast) and were planning to go the last day when we were surprised to see there was only a regular breakfast that was something like 7:30 - 9:30 am. But there was also a MDR lunch 12 - 1. It was a good menu, similar to the lunch menus in the past (not as extensive as dinner), with the dessert including a sundae that was better than what is on the kids menu. They also had a nice seafood dish. We asked out of curiosity why they did this and was told they had SDB the day before. I thought on cruises with a number of sea days this could be a good variation. I dont remember reading about it, certainly on a non Journeys cruise, since the restart.
  17. Toying with the idea of a B2B since we will be there anyway. Perhaps we can catch another European promotion the way we did with this one last spring. Yes it would reduce the 25% OBC, but still would save the 75% out of pocket, and thanks for the thought,
  18. We have booked a number of cruises short notice (not last minute but a few months before) where early dining was filled and there was no wait list. There was nothing Carnival rep or the TA could do. But the first day I go to the dining inquiries, usually around 1pm, and was able to get early dining every time on the spot. Boarding early with platinum we have normally eaten by that time and go down to the mdr and often are first in line. Between that and being platinum, as others have suggested, the change seems to be a no brainer for them.
  19. I am confused by all this. We have used CVS in the past and they charged our insurance and we never had an out-of-pocket cost. The test itself was covered fully by insurance but they started to bill for an office visit but CVS never charged us for the copay/deductible. I wonder if they will want payment going forward and we will be better off with the OnPoint monitored testing. Has anyone been charged by CVS or is this too new a policy to know? Is there an out-of-pocket cost for patients with insurance? Patients with insurance should not have any out-of-pocket costs for a covered COVID-19 test, but check with your health plan to confirm before scheduling a test. If you have health insurance, you must bring your card with you to the test site. For patients who test negative for COVID-19 through a rapid test and come into the clinic, the clinic visit should be considered part of your test by your health plan. You likely will not have any out-of-pocket costs for the in-clinic visit, or for testing to further evaluate COVID-like symptoms, but you should check with your health plan to confirm coverage. You will be responsible for any patient cost as determined by your insurance.
