1. We we back to Guest Relations, and the agent on duty was not that interested since we were not on the ship's excursion when the accident happened. She took the info, names, cabin numbers, said she would contact the port agent and get an update and call/page us with an update.

Two hours later we went back to guest services, did not see her and asked for an update. They had no clue what we were talking about. We asked for the number for the hospital and we would call ourselves. They did not have it. We asked if the Medical Center might have it, they called down but said the nurse was busy and would be so for at least an hour before they could help us. We asked again to contact the port agent, she said she was trying but the call was not going through, sorry I can't do anything else.

This is when we asked for someone else to assist, the Guest Services Manager who had been listening all along, off to the side at the Shopping Desk finally stepped over to try and help. She called up to the bridge and asked to have them radio the port agent to call on channel 5. When she told the bridge what was up, they told her that him mother had indeed returned and was the reason the nurse could not speak to us, they were tending to her in the medical unit.

By the time she left the hospital and got back to the ship, she started bleeding again, they had to bring out a wheelchair and open the medical center to attend to her.

Nursing/doctor staff were great on the ship, they finally told her to keep the wheelchair to use the rest of the cruise so she could at least get out of the room. They kept the would clean and changed it everyday until we got back to Baltimore.

Guest Services needs some work, this would not be the last issue with them this cruise.

Why didn't Jerome's Dad call when he came back to the ship. Seems to me it was his responsibility to call everyone not the ship.

    Hope she is ok now.

  2. Thinking of sailing but I see this ship was built in 2000 and redone in 2005 that being 9 years of the same carpet, linens etc. I know its getting done in 3/2015 we are considering before this but very concerned about the wear and tear that the ship will show. Please feel free to share your thoughts if you have sailed recently.

    Thank you

  3.
We will be cruising on the Quantum in January 2015 out of Cape Liberty. We are planning on flying in the night before. Is it best to stay close to the airport or by the cruise port? Any recommendations? How far is the port from the Newark airport? We have always cruised out of Florida so I appreciate any tips you might have.
4. I don't think I can remember when any cruise was cancelled due to sanitizing or prior cruise noro problems (if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone here will have the ship's name and date at hand). They may cancel a day at most, and even that is extremely rare. The sanitizing agents used are very strong, and eminently effective, so even taking one day without new people onboard to recontaminate surfaces, the virus would be eradicated in one day's sanitizing. The problem is not killing the virus, it is constantly having to re-sanitize because the surfaces continue to get contaminated over and over. Remove the source (the people) and your sanitizing becomes 100% effective.

Fyi--They cancelled two day's and two ports of call for the Explorer 21, 2014 sailing.

They brought the Ex back to Bayonne and spent 2 1/2 day's sanitize. Over 700 people reported ill.

    So it does happen.

  5. Understand and thank you so much ... ... after reading the 7 day menu's I wish our cruise was for 7 days.... however.. it's only for 5 days. Is there a way to find out 'which' 2 days of menu's won't be included ? We would like to go to Portofino's one night but aren't sure of 'what' day to choose ... Thanks again !!

Which Bermuda sailing are you doing?

  6. MIAMI, March 31, 2014 – Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas will sail its very first

Europe season in summer 2015. The cruise line’s Adventure of the Seas, which was originally

announced to homeport at Southampton, U.K., is being exchanged for Explorer of the Seas, which will

take over three- to 16-night, roundtrip itineraries from late-April through Sept. 2015. Vacationers

can choose among three- and eight-night Northern Europe itineraries, 11- to 16-night

Mediterranean itineraries, or 10- to 14-night Madeira, Azores and Canary Islands itineraries.

Adventure of the Seas will remain at San Juan, Puerto Rico, to sail seven-night Southern Caribbean

    cruises throughout the summer season.

Explorer of the Seas will complete an extensive, month-long drydock revitalization before

starting seasonal service and boast a wide range of new innovative features to offer guests an

unforgettable onboard experience. Guests can test their surfing skills on a new FlowRider surf

simulator; watch a film come to life in a magical 3-D Movie theatre; and sample cuisine from around

the world in a new range of onboard restaurants. There will also be all-new staterooms and luxurious

suites, plus new virtual balconies that bring live ocean and destination views into interior staterooms.

Additional revitalization details will be unveiled at a later date.

Voyager-class Explorer of the Seas is still among the world’s largest and most innovative cruise

ships, featuring Royal Caribbean exclusive onboard amenities not yet matched by any other cruise

line. The Voyager class of ships was the first to introduce the active cruise vacation and features the

cruise line’s iconic rock-climbing wall, a real ice-skating rink, a full-size basketball and sports court,

and the Royal Promenade, an interior boulevard that runs nearly the length of the ship that is

flanked by restaurants, lounges and boutiques and where spectacular parades and evening dance
