  1. Hi Dick!

Your group would probably be most comfortable in the Solarium Bistro. Second choice would be the Cafe 270. I usually board early and do the Cafe 270, but the line gets long quickly because it is on the Embarkation deck 5. Solarium Bistro is forward on deck 14 and not the kind of place that the new cruisers seem to find on Day 1.

    Hi Carol

Any idea what the menu is at the Bistro.

  2. Anthem of the Seas: September 9 Bermuda cruise

While it is our intention to provide confirmation on our specific plans 48 hours prior to departure; the situation with Hurricane Irma and its impact on our Bermuda itinerary is unpredictable. We are actively monitoring the weather systems in the Atlantic for additional clarity. Please know that we are confirmed to sail on Saturday and it is our intent to go to Bermuda. If the weather becomes problematic, we will provide an alternative itinerary.

We will be working with local authorities to assess and understand the impact of Irma and when it is appropriate to visit. If the impact of the storm requires us to make a change we will of course notify you immediately.

  3. If the storm comes up the coast, I don't know how we will be able to go to Canada. We would be sailing with the storm up the coast.

My guess is that depending on where it is located at the time we are sailing, we will either hug the coast till we pass it, or to straight east and then down to Bermuda.

If that's not possible, we may be enjoying a cruise up the Hudson.:confused::rolleyes:

he following sailings are being monitored and we will have further details in our 6 PM EDT update:

  4. Hurricane Irma Update | Sept 5, 11pm:

We are closely monitoring Hurricane Irma’s path and its potential impact to our current and upcoming sailings. Our Chief Meteorologist, James Van Fleet, is closely tracking the storm’s progress, and the current forecast is as follows:

Hurricane Irma is a category 5 hurricane with sustained winds around the center at 185 mph and is currently located about 210 miles east of Antigua. The storm continues its westerly track at 15 mph. While it is difficult to predict the path of the storm at this time, it is likely that Irma will impact Florida at some point this weekend.

In an effort to give you advance notice of any changes while also taking into account the most accurate forecast information, we will be providing updates on any impacted sailings no later than 2 days in advance of departure.

  5. 11:30 east coast time

Assessments are ongoing, but at this time Galveston is only seeing isolated incidents of water and wind damage. The City is not seeing significant street flooding outside of areas that are typically affected by high tide and rain. The City and its emergency teams are focused on assisting nearby communities on the mainland that have been severely impacted by flooding. On the island, city services have been restored and are operating as usual.

    Transportation

The Galveston-Bolivar Ferry is running with limited services depending on weather. The city trolleys are also currently operating. Scholes International Airport has reopened.

    Hotels

Galveston’s hotels are open and operating. A few hotels have received minimal water and/or wind damage but no major issues have been reported. Several hotel and lodging venues are offering discounts to visitors impacted by the storm.

    Port of Galveston / Cruises

The Port of Galveston is closed to all marine traffic. It is expected to remain closed until the storm has passed and a port assessment has been completed. For cruise updates, click here.

    • Royal Caribbean has diverted Liberty of the Seas to Miami after being unable to dock in Galveston due to the storm. Liberty of the Seas plans to return to Galveston on Friday, Sept. 1. Guests on Liberty of the Seas will have the option to disembark in Miami, if they desire. Details here.

  6. For Spectra's in 270, I think you get a better view from the balcony. There is so much going on all over, you can see it better from the balcony.

In the theater, I like the section right behind the sound control - downstairs (deck 4) but middle tier. To get these seats you need to go a little earlier.

Gayle, Thank you for the info.

  7. I'm getting ready to sail on Anthem for the 11th time in a couple of weeks. I'm less than an hour from the port, and have done Bermuda, Bahamas, Eastern, Western and Southern itineraries. I sail solo and have met up with some great friends old and new. Every cruise is different depending on who I'm with. Love the Music Hall, and We Will Rock You and Spectra and go see them on every cruise. I have met many others who have been on the ship a lot more times than me.

Hi Gayle. When you go to theater for the shows is it better to sit in the balcony or down stairs?
