Mimi, it sounds like you were blessed with a great brother. I hate that you have to go through this loss but I am thankful you got to share your life with one such as your brother.

Just crossed the Mississippi River. Steam was rolling up the banks. Not sure why. After taking a pic I thought my camera shot B&W but Sharon sad it looked like that.

Before leaving the kids and I all decided to turn the water off at our houses and drian the pipes. I was having a hard time removing the cover off my meter. A man and his son that maintains lawns in our neighborhood pulled up. The son jumped out, pulled off the cover and turned off the water and said, I got you man! So nice.

It has finally warmed up to 8⁰. I love heated seats! We have been on the road for about an 1 1/2 hours. Leaving town the hardest part was leaving our neighborhood but that wasn't to bad. The weird thing is that now that we are further south we are running into long stretches of icy road.

Did you happen to pray that you could learn to have better patience? I did that once. A half hour trip to Walmart turned into a 2 hour trip. 🙃 Another lesson learned. Now if you see someone in ARK wearing a winter jacket when it is 40 stop and say hi, I would love to meet you!

We usually don't get sub zero weather but from what I have read most will survive with heavy mulching. What is concerning is we had a warm period longer than normal after they were planted and they were growing more than expected. There are two main types, Hardneck and Softneck. I am growing varieties of both. Hardneck can handle real cold better than Softneck. Garlic needs to go through a period of cold but not this cold. I have read garlic can handle -20 to -30 for a period of time. This will be the coldest that I have grown garlic. We will see how it goes.Always learning.

My new health insurance provider says they have free interpreter services. It mentions Spanish, French, German etc. Long list but nowhere do I see Southern 🤔 I reckon y'all might not understand but whatsu talkn bout.

@Sea Dog Greg, It sure does hit quickly! It's now 18⁰ windchill 0⁰. It's windy but from a distance the garlic covering looks like it's holding up. Maybe some of this snow will pile up on it and will help even more. Has the snow stopped there yet?

If I remember correctly Texas was hit bad last winter and many lost power.

Thanks. It has just started drizzling and temperature is now dropping. If it doesn't get worse than what you are seeing the garlic should be fine. This front dips down to our area and then goes back up. Once we leave Arkansas and bet past Memphis we should be OK.

When the dealership was going over everything with us in the car he started talking about AWD. I said wait, I don't buy cars with AWD... He replied, so you don't want this one? 😆 I am guessing I will never use the buttons and knobs for the AWD. About the only time I drive off road is if I fall asleep while driving. Snow around here maybe about 5 days give or take.

Last year we had to buy a new car and there wasn't a lot to choose from. I normally do not buy a vehicle with AWD but had no choice. With this storm rolling in I need to figure out how to use it. 😆 I guess I just hit the button that says snow. ❄️ Can you push the snow button when the care is moving or do you need to be stopped. Maybe I need to YouTube. Any warnings about using AWD?

So this is what you are sending me for Christmas 🎄 🙃. It's currently 44⁰. The storm is supposed to hit within the next 2 hours. Is the wind very strong? I ask because I spent a lot of time yesterday covering the garlic. I hope the wind does not blow of the mulched up leaves and straw I covered them with. We have a steep driveway so we will park the car on the road so we can take off tomorrow morning.

Thanks Greg. We will be getting together with Sharon's family. We try to have a big get together every 4 years. A couple families may not make it this year so we a guessing about 85 will be there.
