Hi all. Headed out on the Breakaway next month and just wanted to get the input of some recent guests to see which of the things I remember from 2016 are still around. I've read that the mini-golf and the rock wall were both removed to increase the ropes course? Are those (still) gone? Are the bungee and spider web still around? Any recent pics of the kids aquapark area? (Our last ship was the Encore, and it doesn't seem like the kids aquapark is nearly as cool on the Breakaway.)

Any advise on cool stuff for kids who are (probably) just under the 48" height mark?

Thanks all, and sorry for the double post!

If you look at Birdtravels write up on their 5 day cruise there are pictures of the kids pool/splash pad on post 129. Post 128 has pictures of the kid’s daily schedule. My understanding is they start at age 5.

    There is also the arcade.

    Hope this helps.

Does anyone know which days and times Six and Burn the Floor are offered? That will help us pick reservation times and days for specialty dining. Thanks!

Based upon dailies posted by Shadowmeboy in his review for His May cruise:

Six is Monday and Tuesday 7:30pm and 10pm.

Burn the Floor is Friday and Saturday 7:30pm and 10pm.

  3. We are 120 days out today. It appears I can make dining reservations but the show reservations are not open which seems odd. In the past they opened up everything at the same time. Is this something new? I know I can call but would prefer not to be in cue forever.

Can you just call back now yourself and add it. You do not need to go through your TA to do this. I have a TA and called myself this week and so have many others. I paid with a credit card, and got my NCL confirmation while I was still on the phone with the agent.

My cruise was booked through ta. I had called Ncl to add the Vibe pass based upon what I was reading here. I offered to pay for it then but was told they would just add it to the final payment. Ncl has now been paid and I am all set. I am assuming that if I hadn’t made sure the ta sent through the vibe payment Ncl would have cancelled the vibe booking.

    Hi!,

I called yesterday to get a pre-cruise Vibe pass for the same cruise as @kapper. No problems.

I paid $289, still ok imo.

I did not have to pre-pay; she just added it to my cruise final payment.

She said I could pay for it either way.....it was easy.

My reservation was through a ta. I called Ncl 2 days ago and booked a vibe pass which I was told would be added to the final payment. Ncl said my ta would be aware of this. Final payment went through today and the vibe pass was not paid for. Ta sent through the additional payment and said Ncl shouldn’t be adding it to ta final payments as they would have no way of knowing about it.

I try to warn people who think/post about sharing. Hopefully, someone will record what happens when someone is caught and post the video on YouTube.

You are allowed to get 2 drinks at a time using just one card. We always take the drink package for both of us. So if my husband orders 2 drinks at the bar and gives one to me back at our table should I expect someone to come up to me and demand to see my card? I wouldn't be very happy to be challenged like that. Has this happened to anyone?

The NCL epic has had some negative moments this year. Does anyone know why the epic ship was so delayed in leaving port canaveral last March 16, 2019? Really hoping that the problems it has had are being remedied quickly. We are set to voyage with them next April. If the epic had delays, the question is:  when and how did NCL contact you?

    Thanks for any feedback.

We were told when checking in at the pier that the ship would be leaving late due to planned maintenance. The ship also left late from tortola for the same reason.

I have a friend who are planning on sailing on NCL to Bermuda and was wondering if the drink package offered by NCL which is one of the three things that they can obtain includes non alcoholic frozen drinks.  They do not drink at all but like to drink these drinks if nonalcoholic.  I told her that I do not know but I would find out for her.  This is their first cruise so I am trying to walk them thru the cruise as to a room and what to get as their picks but leaving the final discussion up to them.

I am also curious if a 20 year old can with the soda package can get a non alcoholic frozen drink or would he have to pay for it.

to highlight what rhblake posted If you are flying back to US - you will clear US Customs & immigration at YVR - that can take an hour

NCL says 4 hours after arrival time in YVR for flight departures.

YVR recommends 3 hours at the airport for Cruise ship passengers.

NO WAY would I expect to get off a cruise ship, through Canada Customs and drive to the airport in 1 hour (the drive alone is about an hour)

I am biased as it's my home airport, YVR is beautiful, lots of places to eat & shop, I would rather spend 2 hours waiting than stressing that I might miss my flight

Our cruise made a stop in Victoria on the way back. We just filled out a form on the ship that covered Canadian customs. I would suggest using a skycap at the airport. They will check you in and walk you through to where your luggage is placed on the conveyor belt. From there you go to where you scan in your passport and then through customs. This process can take some time. There is more information on the ports of call boards.

    https://www.ncl.com/about/contact-us

Here's the contact us page.  I think the OP in a different thread who started a big discussion had sent a snail mail letter.

The above link is now just a faq page with a feel free to call us at 866 234-7350 or click this button and we will call you. In the past you were able to actually type in a comment for them. This appears to have been a recent change.

Let me borrow a page from the Cruise Critic how-to on cruise price reductions...

If NCL would have lowered the price of the drinks, would you want to pay the new lower price, or would you insist on paying the higher price that was in effect when you booked in November??  😉

NCL will not honor price drops after final payment. They should also not raise prices on the terms of perks advertised/offered at the time of booking after final payment. This would keep things fair for both the cruiser and NCL.
