  1. Your key card will have your assigned time and table number on it.  The embarkation day daily schedule will tell you where and when the maitre'd is available for dining changes.  If you go at that time, they will be able to tell you if you are at a two top and if not, will try to accommodate a change.

  2. There has been no one able to answer this question from their experience yet on these boards.  We know that the ships that do the $5 surcharge for an extra entree have been enforcing that.  But, we do not know if they charge $5 for each additional entree.  We don't know if one orders three entries if the fee is $10 or $5. The way it's worded could mean it's $5 inclusive of as many extra entrees or $5 for each extra entree.  If you find out, please report back.

The confusion is among those who do not understand the difference between the dinner size pasta portion and the availability of almost any pasta dish as a "primo."

The "primo" is small and usually doesn't contain meat or seafood  which means depending on the dish, may not be available as a "primo" course.

When I have ordered the pasta as a "primo," it was a much smaller portion than an entree.

On the Meraviglia from New York, we often ordered a pasta as a "starter."  We always received the full dinner size and exact type including meat or seafood each time and were never charged the extra entree fee.  The lasagna was huge and delicious.  The Meraviglia menus do not have a "primo" section.  It is called "starters."

  4. Consensus is still out as to whether the charge is for each additional entree or if the $5 charge covers any additional entrees after the first.  The wording isn't specific, and so far no one here has reported personal experience with this.  Also keep in mind that there is always a pasta or risotto dish as a main each night, and the always available section of the menu has some main pastas.  You can order any of that (and/or presumably the main salad offering) as a starter for no additional charge.  I think maybe one person here had a problem doing that.  But if that happened to me, I would escalate the request, as pasta is a whole different course than a main in traditional Italian dining, and I am guessing that person's waiter was confused. They will almost certainly bring a main sized portion BTW.

  5. That room looks awesome.  I hope you are not upset that the tub will prevent the intimate relationship you could have had with the shower curtain.  I'm a bit scared for you with regards to the bed.  The woman in the video said it's a princess bed and one thing I do remember about my last princess cruise many years ago was how hard the bed was.  I hope you can report that has changed because that has been a big reason we stopped considering princess.  I bet if you ask your room steward for a lounge, they will accommodate you lol.

to the OP, I don't know if your flight has an US leg or not, but the US department of transportation rules comes across to me as you are entitled to a refund. Now, I'm not a lawyer, although I did stay at a holiday inn express last night:

The flight was not cancelled or delayed, the airline did not make a schedule change with the flight, and no one was involuntarily denied boarding.  NCL changing a person's flight doesn't have anything to do with those situations.  That being said, OP maybe try calling the airline and requesting a refund or credit.  Of course they don't have to do anything.  But, maybe they will surprise you.

  7. FYI if you have previously cruised with NCL, the do not call list means nothing.  If you have done business with a company, the regulations regarding the do not call list do not apply.  Your best bet is to do as other posters have said and not be logged in while shopping.

  8. With regards to tipping, a daily service charge will be automatically applied to each person's account every day of the cruise (unless you pre pay it).  Also, any services you buy like drinks, spa, or specialty dining will have a 20% gratuity automatically applied.  The daily fee covers room stewards, dining staff and behind the scenes staff.  You are free to tip extra if you want, and can do so in cash or when buying a service by adding any additional amount to the receipt you will be signing.  The daily charge does not cover Haven butlers or concierge and does not cover camp counselors.

  9. It's a check in time, not embarkation time actually.  In Brooklyn, they do not pay attention to what has been assigned.  Your assigned time will also probably randomly change between now and your cruise.

  10. So many views, yet no replies...I'll tell you why no one has answered.  It's because no one wants to tell you that they really hope you won't even consider bringing your guitar (bag pipes, accordion, kazoo, violin.....and certainly not your child's recorder even though the music teacher says they have to practice) because as talented as you probably are, no one wants to hear you play.  If you play on your balcony, your neighbors will be disturbed.  And even though it's acoustic, the cabin walls are still thin, so again, your neighbors will be disturbed.  There really is no place for you to play it, so it's advisable that you leave it at home.

  11. I was on Meraviglia in September in an angled balcony cabin that could easily accommodate a lounge.  When I asked the room stewardess it was like no one had ever asked such a thing.  Her supervisor told her to tell us to ask at guest services.  The person manning the desk was also flummoxed by my request and had to ask an officer.  We were told no due to there being a "safety issue" with the lounge hitting the glass.  I guess Aurea and YC lounges behave better, or maybe those upper scale balconies are entitled to better glass?  The table and regular balcony chairs certainly have more of a chance flying around and hitting the glass than a low profile lounge.  So it makes no sense.  But in your case since you are in a regular class cabin, I wouldn't count on getting a lounge.  My plan for our next MSC cruise is to get one of those foldable camping lounges to bring with me.

  12. Since mid winter break which happens during presidents week is only three weeks before the second cruise in your btb, the odds of spring break for school age kids being that week are quite slim, especially since the spring holidays are in April.  As others have said, college spring break is another story.  But since NCL doesn't allow under 21 to travel without parents or guardians, the odds of a cruise being a college spring break booze debacle are slim unless there are a bunch of masters and doctorate level students on board.  And obviously they can't afford a cruise or the drink package gratuities since they are paying for their higher education lol.

Sorry this was the Meraviglia from 3/31 to 4/7/2024. We had sailed on Royal Thanksgiving week in 2023 and had no problems with kids or food.

Spring break is horrible on any cruise line with kids. It doesn't compare to Thanksgiving.  To take a week long cruise around turkey day, the kiddos have to be pulled from school for at least 3 days.  Less parents book at that time.  Also turkey day is more of an extended family eating traditional food type holiday, again meaning less kids than spring break.

  14. The lounges above the OP's cabin are bolted to the floor.  The tiny teak tables are not going to be heard through their ceiling.  If you looked at the deck plans, you would see the spot their cabin is, is pretty far away from the therapy pool.  I have never seen staff use rolling carts in the relaxation area to collect towels as the collection bins are near the exit area.  Few people leave a towel on the lounges....certainly not often enough to require rolling bins to be used.  Besides if those theoretical bins were annoying enough to people in rooms below, don't you think they would be annoying as heck to the actual lounge area users?  It's nice that crew gets to use the spa at times.  Thanks for passing that info on.

OP did not ask when is the time to get the auto charges increased.

OP asked when is the time to get the auto charges reduced or eliminated.

When I said possibly planning to be more generous, I meant by tipping who they wanted personally.  Sorry you did not understand what I was implying.

It is never a good time to try and stuff the hard working crew who work 7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day. Pay your daily service charge and tip more. That’s what most people do.

It doesn't matter what "most" people do.  But more importantly how on earth can you propose to know that most people tip more?  Has there been some exit survey that only you know about?  Tipping is a personal choice, and to try to bully people to go along with what you choose to do by saying "most" do, is just wrong.

I read it and found nothing to convince me to change my mind.

    Premeditated = Shamefull.

I see no reason to continue this conversation.

What's shameful is you have already decided the OP is removing or lowering the service fee and not doing so because they are planning possibly to be more generous.  You have decided the OP is this terrible person when their plan may be to tip much more generously to the people they want to tip.  Shameful is judging someone based on your preconceived notions.
