I have tried them all, but the balconies are great for places like Alaska, where there is a lot to see while you are sailing. One thing I like about the inside cabins is the total darkness. Your body is not influenced by the light, so you get as much sleep as you need.

What doesn't he like about the cheap water shoes? Will he wear them again (another excursion, another time? If he's still growing why waste the money on expensive shoes to only wear once. (Been there, done that with a child who's foot finally stopped growing).
He will only wear them for the excursion. He only likes one style of shoe, besides ones he wears around the house. If he is out in public, it has to be high top tennis shoes. I considered just cancelling his part of the excursion, but he really wants to go. It's very frustrating.

Tevas were designed by white water enthusiasts. They were literally designed to be functional for active water activities like kayaking, rafting, canoeing, etc. Meant to be able to be worn for the land portion and the wet portion of your day with fully adjustable straps to keep the soles on your feet, but having minimal straps to speed dry recovery after getting out of the water. I would highly recommend Tevas.
They always look so nice too!

Tevas last 10 years, are dark in color and look masculine. Also good for hiking and biking.
I have some like this. They are great!

I bought cheap slip on sneakers.
Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app
Like Ked's or Converse types?

Just wear sneakers! They just want you to have shoes that won't slip off your foot. Sneakers are fine. Yes...they'll probably be wet, but they will dry eventually!
Oh, good. Thanks!

I will see what I can find. He probably will only wear them for the excursion. His footwear consists of Under Armour and Jordan high tops and flip flops around the yard. He's a picky one. Tevas are great though.

I love my water shoes, because they don't look like water shoes. :)
Mine are adidas, and they have a great selection of men's as well. http://www.adidasoutdoor.com/mens-water-shoes/
Those are cool!!!

If you wear them in the ocean how do you get all the sand out so they are comfortable the next time you wear them? I have bought water shoes in the past and have never gotten all the sand out and never were able to wear them again. They were the cheap ones from Walmart.
Laura
I have had that problem too. I think I still have some sand in mine years later.

Would Croc's work?

I have several pairs of Keen sandals that I use as water shoes. Check out their website.
I have a pair of Keens and they are great! Thanks!

There are lots of different types of water shoes. What kind doesn't he like? Is he thinking of the ones from the rack at Walmart or a true water shoe? Look at Keens, Teva, Merrill, Olukai etc. Seen these at places like DSW, Famous Footwear and REI. Check the sales rack at REI.
.
It's the standard cheapie ones he doesn't like. I will check out the brands you mentioned. Thanks!

My husband, son and I are going on a cave tubing excursion in Belize. We are supposed to wear something with good traction, like water shoes, but my son does not like them and would like something else. What other types of footwear give the same benefit as water shoes? Thanks!

We went, but not recently. It's a nice day, especially with kids.

We were in Coz last month for the 10th time and rented a car. We drove to the Punta Sur area but didn't enter to get to the lighthouse. It is further from the pier than Palancar is-it's at the very southern tip of the island. Palancar has been our go to beach for many years. However there isn't much to do there if you aren't interested in swimming, sun bathing or snorkeling.
That's lovely! Okay, I think I will find something else to do. I actually just want to take pictures of a beach for maybe ten minutes.
-
They both sound great! Having someone else carry them sounds like a plus. I was wondering about the Butts Up name. lol And zipline would be fun too. Thanks!

Punta Sur certainly has more to look at but it is part of National Park so will require an admission fee. You would be advised to hire a taxi to stay with you for your visit or make arrangements for one to return. I am not so sure there will be too many waiting taxis there and I have been advised cell service is limited.
I recall from an earlier thread you want to be able to access shade as required and I would suggest looking at a tour with Tours Plaza.
https://toursplaza.com/hiring-a-driver/
We have toured with them many times and you would be able to pick and choose your locations and how long you want you stay. Our very first tour round the island with them we called in Palancar for a while, then visited Punta Sur before continuing round the east coast for sightseeing and lunch. It was the beginning of many trips round the island both on cruise ship days and land vacations. They have suggestions of places to visit on their website.
I will check them out. Thanks!

We are going to Cozumel in March and we are stuck between these two locations. We like beaches, but I also love lighthouses. Which one would be easier to get to and which one would be more beautiful? We don't need to sun bathe, but just look around for a little while.
-
We are cruising in March on Princess. The cruise line has a 5.5 hour cave tubing excursion for $70. I have also heard about Vitalino Reyes and Butts up (what's up with that name?), but would they be a better deal than the cruise line?
-
You either have to buy them or win them. We try to win them at trivia.
-
I think eastern Caribbean would be great! There are some nice aquariums and beaches. Jamaica is nice, but people tend to be more aggressive in trying to sell you things, even drugs.

Some people are picky or Negative Nellies. Don't let that be you! :)

We are all about trivia games and dance lessons.

I'm thinking of taking the 7-1/2 hour White Pass/Yukon Excursion with Chilkoot leaving at 8:30am Bus Up/Train Back. My ship is in port 7am-6:15pm that day.
They guarantee you'll be back in time or they'll take you to your next port. The next day for my ship is Glacier Bay with the next port being the following day in Ketchikan. I wouldn't want to miss Glacier Bay. The ships excursion for the same itinerary is $62 more but it would be guaranteed they would wait for me.
Should I opt out of the longer excursion and take the 3-1/2 hour White Pass Tour that doesn't go as far inland just to be on the safe side and just do something in town with the extra time? It covers most of the same area, just doesn't go up into the Yukon, you miss some of the waterfalls, you don't get the BBQ lunch and you don't get to see the husky puppies. It's still bus up/train back. Should I spend the extra for the ships excursion?
Anyone ever do both excursions? Would I be missing a lot by doing the shorter one?
We did the shorter one and it was great. We always try to book with the cruise line, since they won't leave without you.
HAL vs other cruise lines
in Holland America Line
Posted
DH and I are booked for our first HAL cruise. We have been on most of the other cruise lines. What is the differences with HAL? Since it appeals to an older clientele, what are the good and bad things about the line? I know they are rated very highly in all categories, so I am sure we will be thrilled. Just wanting to know kind of what to expect.
