Actually my husband wanted to know if there were places to put our luggage while we are downtown before we go to the hotel. Would it be easier to just get a hotel near the Space Needle (to save a little money), so we can put the luggage there before sight seeing?

Great, thanks!

We are flying to SeaTac and sailing out of pier 91. We want to go directly downtown and look around, since we may not be able to check into the hotel right away. What are our options for storing luggage until we go to the hotel?

We have a day to explore, so what is the best place to base ourselves hotel-wise?

HI! We are going to Alaska next month and would like to find a nice, close but not outrageously expensive hotel in Seattle. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The $40 trip doesn't get you far! It is not worth it, regardless if you do any other trip. If you are interested in a bus trip, pick the one that goes into the Yukon.
The train is a great trip.
There are some combo trips with a private vendor worth looking at: https://chilkootcharters.com
I figured for the price, it wouldn't be as worthwhile. Thanks!

Everyone seems to like that one. Okay, thanks!

We are sailing this August on Ruby Princess and can't decide which excursion to take. It's between the White Pass Scenic Railway (3.5 hours $130) and To the Klondike Summit (1.5 hours $40). What do you think?

We stop at Mendenhall Glacier for about 15-20 mins . It was a great time
Long enough for pictures. Perfect!

We did H&M twice and both times included a stop at Mendenhall Glacier. I can't tell from their web site if they still do Mendenhall but a quick call or email should provide the answer. We're going to Alaska again in July 2017 and plan to book with them again. The last time we had Jayleen as our captain and she chased down a pod of orcas then the humpbacks bubble feeding.
Sounds fun! Love the pictures! Thanks!

. Make sure you get an ice cream at Mathew Watson General Store. For me the train is better than the van because you can get up and move around and don't have to take pictures through the van window.
Thanks!

Princess has an excursion called "To The Klondike Summit" but I am hearing a lot about White Pass and Yukon tours. Which is better?

We did the Harv and Marv tour a few years ago.
Is this for whale watching only or do they do that coupled with Mendenhall Glacier? We want to do both.

Wow, Orca Enterprises it is then. Thanks!

Wanna see a risque picture of Orca's mating near Victoria from last week? Check picture 11 on this link...

Oh my. He's hung like a...whale...

Harv & Marv have an excursion that does both.
I will check them out. Thanks!

Juneau and Hoonah have 100% sightings of humpbacks. BUT these are "different" humpbacks, whereas Atlantic usually have white pectoral fins, Pacific are black. :) (I spend a lot of time going out of Gloucester). Juneau also has a resident orca pod- which, on average are seen about 2 times per week. So not the best chance. Out of Victoria, there are 3 resident Southern Vancouver Island pods. Problem is, the usual late port arrival time. You usually have to take a ship excursion- which is shorter than a regular tour. Shorter means, less success seeing orcas. They have to be within closer range, out of their hundreds of miles.
If you want Mendenhall, and are taking a whale watch, ALWAYS book a combo package with direct transfer between the two.
Thanks!!

In Juneau, we went on a whale watching trip with Harv & Marv. They picked us up on a bus for transport to the boat. After the whale watching, the bus stopped at Mendenhall Glacier. It waited for about 15 minutes or so, which was enough time to walk to the viewing platform. We opted to let the bus leave us and spent an hour or two walking the trails. There are other buses that provide rides to and from the glacier that you can take back to downtown Juneau. I think we paid $8 pp for the ride back.
Sounds perfect!!

Icy Strait Point is also good for whale watching.
Where is that?

Okay, so the Carnival option doesn't sound like it's a good one. Is the best idea a shore excursion out of Juneau? With so many things to do in Juneau (Mendenhall, whales, Tracy Arm), why is the time so short there?

We won a bunch at trivia games. Yay, free stuff!;)

I have seen humpbacks out of Gloucester, MA, but would love to see other types of whales while cruising Alaska. What is the best port to see whales? I read that Juneau or Victoria are good, but we want to see Mendenhall Glacier while in Juneau. Any suggestions on how to see them?
-
I have read here that Tracy Arm is better seen from a small ship instead from the cruise ship. Carnival docks there, but some of the other lines do a four hour scenic cruise of it. What is the best chance to get close to it, by cruising or docking? Thanks!

We are in Bermuda from 9am the first day until 5pm the second day. We want to tour the Dockyard area, Hamilton, St. Georges and the southwest beaches. What's the best way to split up the itinerary over both days to see everything? Where is it best to go by bus and where is it best to go by ferry? Thanks!
Where to put luggage when downtown?
