As passengers who received doses of mixed vaccine are forced to cancel it is possible more cabins will have to be sold at the last minute, (we had a cruise out of Rome to NY in November) . We will have to cancel before the end of September as final payment is due. NCL will want to sell our Haven cabin asap i'm sure.

That is probably true.  Sorry you will have to cancel.

    On board now

Ran into someone effected by the broken pipe from the smaller pool above there cabin. They are on deck nine. Happened around midnight with approximately 3 inches of water on there cabin floor . I am on deck 8 and walked on squishy carpet in hallway

    pool is still empty

Sorry for all those effected.  We are boarding tomorrow  on deck 8.  Hopefully they will be able to get things repaired by tomorrow so no one else needs to have their plans ruined.  We are aft on 8 so I don't believe our room is involved.

An earlier post stated the pool had reopened.  Did the pipes fail again, or did they just close as you are heading into port.

Any idea if they are going to get to port early to allow the repairs to get started?

We prefer leaving from Manhattan or even Brooklyn.    Never thought of driving in NYC!!!

We take the train and get a driver out of Penn Station.   If on the QM2 out of Brooklyn we stay the night before and enjoy real pizza and then real bagels in the morning.   We don’t enjoy the area around the Newark port.

I have never actually parked in Manhattan.  Always looked at the pricing as being to much.  I pay our nephew to drive us in and pick us up.  Costs us a little less and our car is safe at home.(he used to have a beeter car so his additional perk was to use our cars for the week.)

I see you've asked this on our Roll Call as well.  I great place to ask is over in the East Coast Departures forum, where this question is often asked, and the typical advice is to park at the port, for the security of your car and your own convenience.  (And if you think $22/night is expensive, try parking at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal!  🤣)

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/317-east-coast-departures/

I agree with that.  Parking at the pier is very convenient.  And the $22 up from $20 last August when we were there is still great compared to Manhattan.  I don't recall what we paid in Brooklyn in April but it was more reasonable than Manhattan.

I prefer when we can park in the garage over the lot but with the Anthem sailing the same time they seam to get the priority for that.(at least year).  Hoping the the garage i  2 weeks.  But then again for my family it is a wash.  We will be on the Summit, and my parents on the Anthem so someone is going to be in the lot.

The sail away from Manhattan is beautiful, but I’ll take the convenience of sailing out of Bayonne, NJ anytime.  We live in New Jersey and it’s a pleasure to not have to deal with the trip into New York City.  We still see some parts of NYC from Bayonne.  The worst scenery was when we cruised out of Philadelphia about 10 years ago.  It was a slow ride down the Delaware River looking at oil refineries and ugly industrial properties.  It took 2 - 3 hours to get to the Atlantic Ocean.  I haven’t seen a cruise leave out of Philadelphia for a while.

We love the Bayonne departure as well.  Parking is much more reasonable, and agree about the NYC traffic.

Out first cruise was the Horizon out of Philly and I agree the view is far superior out of Bayonne or NY.

Two weeks ago when we left on the Summit we also went first to the Statue of Liberty before heading out to sea. As we pulled away from the dock it was announced that the captain had received permission from the port authorities for him to do this.

3 years ago we did pass the the Statue of Liberty, but not the last 2 years.  We will see what happens in 2 weeks.

It is a charter. I leaves at 7. Went down to see the ship. All the balconies had different color banners which made a rainbow pattern from front to back. Looked great.

Thanks.  That might  actually explain why this sailing is not showing up on the X app.

  9. Not sure about the daily rate.  We have been on the Summit 3 times with internet pre revolutionizing.  I would say MLB would be hit or miss.  I have been able to use slingbox, but it buffers quite often.  At other time it will be fine.

I am hoping that they upgraded during the drydock.  We will be on Summit in a couple weeks and would like to use either slingbox or mlb for the Mets games.  I try to get the replays when we get back to the room at night.

I just did a on-line chat with  Cust Service.  I was told the Premium Plus package is not available as an upgrade from the Classic Package IF the Classic package was a booking perks.

That would match our planner.  I upgraded 1 of our perk classics during the last sale.  When looking at the planner today i was only given the option to upgrade to premium, but not premium plus.

Correct.  The FV cabins on the M-class ships are more appropriate for a couple with small children than for 3 adults.

But even then they are far from ideal for more than 2 people because the children sleep in the "living room"  area, so you lose the use of your sitting area once the sofas are made up into beds.

Those FV layouts were very poorly designed and apparently nothing is being done to improve them during the revolution.

Whoever sleeps in the second "room" needs to walk through the main bedroom area not only to get to the bathroom, but also to get to the cabin door every time they want to leave or enter the cabin, and whenever they want to access the closet or the minibar as well.

Few would relish the thought of needing to go into the bedroom of your parents or in-laws at night whenever you want to use the bathroom or get a cold drink.

The FV cabins on the S-class ships have a much better, more practical living arrangement with a true private master bedroom plus a small, private second bedroom.

So the S-class living room is a real living room, and a nice large one at that.

The drawback there is that some dislike the far-forward location.

However, in this day and age all the FVs on both M-class and S-class really need another bathroom, or at the least another half bathroom.

The majority of the younger generation from the socioeconomic group that X is hoping to attract did not grow up with only one bathroom for the entire family, the way that so many of us old-timers did  (at least those of us who used to walk 10 miles to school, uphill both ways). 😉

    Or bare foot.

I have been in FV before with just the 2 of us. How comfortable are the convertable sofas? Will the third person be happy sleeping in one of those?

    Laura

We had one last year on Summit.  He tried both.  One was more comfortable than the other.  He is 16, almost 6 ft.  Certainly more comfortable overall over a bed coming down from the ceiling.

  13. I love having a balcony.  Sitting out there in the morning with my coffee,  reading or doing a puzzle whole my wife is still sleeping. My wife on the other hand gets a bit of vertigo with heights so doesn't go out on the balcony beyond the door,  unless we have a large aft balcony.

I will usually consider either as more often than not the actual room size is almost identical with the difference being the balcony sq footage.  As long as the price difference is only a couple of hundred dollars for 7 or more days it is worth it to me.

It looks like cabin 7001and 7000 are only for 2 people? Larger ocean views but only for 2. Are there any larger ocean views that are for 3 people?

    Laura

During revolutionizing they dropped capacity to 2 you are correct.   We had 7003 booked for later this month for 3 in the room.   We were notified in December that the room would no longer accommodate our party.   We were upgraded to a balcony on deck 8.  I live having a balcony,  but with our 17 year old son travelling with us i would have preferred the larger cabin.
