  1. You can certainly do it on your own. Have a taxi drive you around. Castillo San Felipe, La Popa and the Walled City. Make sure to stop at the statues of La India Catalina and Los Zapatos Viejos. There is a day tour that you can do on the Chiva (colorful busses).

Make sure to stop and eat Arepa de Huevo. YUMM! Also at the clock tower entry they sell lots of delicious homemade sweets. Make sure to bring home some Aguardiente (our national drink), Tres Esquinas Rum and some Arequipe (Colombian Dulce de Leche). I find tshirts and other touristy things are expenive. Instead buy a sombrero vueltiao. Need any more tips...let me know.

  2. By far the most entertaining thread I have read on here! We are preparing for our July 20th sailing to Bermuda on the Summit and I love all the hints. It is possible to get very caught up in all the tiniest of details but just remember it's a vacation, just have a great time.

  3. My parents just ended their sailing on the Zaandam from Argentina to Chile. I had in my calendar that they would be home today so I arranged for limo service from the airport home. It ends up they were not arriving to New York on the 17th, they are leaving Santiago on the 17th. So they will be home tomorrow morning! Now to arrange for the limo company to pick them up once again. Idiot! :o Good news is that in 363 days they continue the voyage from Santiago to Florida on Celebrity Infinity with my son, my niece and I. Can't wait!

  4. I would love to leave early but we are traveling with my son who will be in his senior year of high school and will be pulling him out of school for 2 weeks. I don't think I can have him miss much more school than that. We were planning on flying in from New York on the Friday before which would only give us 1 day there. My parents are actually on the Buenos Aires to Chile sailing right now and will be traveling with me next year to continue the trip.

In the meantime I am looking forward to sailing on the Summit in July to Bermuda with my hubby for our 20th anniversary. I've booked AQ 1141 (aft facing) on Deck 11.

  5. I know exactly what you are trying to do. I am doing the same, this has to be a perfect vacation, we both need it. This is our 20th anniversary and I also had a very long recovery after knee surgery and a back injury in November. I'm still going to physical therapy! I ended up booking AQ 1141 (aft cabin) Summit Deck 11. We have our premium drink package and a reservation in Qsine. If I knew that I could have the guarantee of a perfect CS suite I wouldn't care about paying for the upgrade either. Good luck....I hope you can get the answers you need to make a decision.

  6. @cherylroslyn Well put! Also everyone needs to keep in mind that we each make our reservation and ate in contol of selecting the cabin that we want or that is within our budget. If you want a particular room pay for it! Let the crew on board do their job. Stop harassing them to give you something for nothing. Keep an eye on price drops and availability before you sail. Once you get on board grab a drink, sit pool side and enjoy the vacation.
