While you’re waiting for the train I highly recommend the Kenai Fjords cruise. We did the Vancouver to Seward cruise last June and took the train to Anchorage on our wat to Denali.

We we booked a half-day Kenai Fjords cruIse to fill the waiting time and we agreed after that it was our favorite excursion of the trip, at least until we got to Denali.

Thanks for the information, unfortunately I’ve already booked a 1 hour helicopter flight and landing on a glacier tour. The cruise would of been ideal though. I kind of thought we’d be over being on a boat, so looked for something different.  We also plan to see a few things in Seward before the train, as it doesn’t depart until 6pm

Aungrl, I hope you get an answer to your question soon.

There is only one in 2020 so that must be it.... "Arctic in Depth".  Looks like you will be celebrating your husband's birthday on the cruise.  😀🎂

Unfortunately we won’t be doing that cruise with you, as the owners suite was already booked out and we were downgraded in cabins. We have now rebooked the Iceland & Greenland cruise for August 2020.

Our Antarctic cruise is February 2020, so the bloody thing better be finished by then.

I feel very sorry for the scenic staff, if anyone has to deal with them, please remember to be kind, it’s not their fault.

So, so sorry to hear the news. I can imagine you must be so disappointed!  Are you going to book the Arctic In Depth, July 3, 2020 cruise?  We are booked on that cruise.

Im really not sure of the date yet, the girl from Scenic just said they are holding our same cabin for the Arctic cruise next year. I am waiting for the email with details and prices. July 3rd is my husbands birthday, so that would be nice.

  4. Well it’s official Scenic just called me to say that my June Arctic trip has been cancelled and the ship won’t be sailing until August 2019.

This is the second cruise I’ve had cancelled now. I’ve been offered 50% off my next Arctic booking for 2020.

I didnt have have my hopes up for this trip, after I was bitterly disappointed missing our January Antarctic trip. Oh well I’ll save the Eclipse for next year and tick another bucket list by booking a journey on the Orient Express instead for June.

  5. I have/had 3 bookings on the Scenic Eclipse. One to the Antarctic, that was canceled for January 2019, the others for the Arctic in June/July 2019 and Mediterranean in 2020.

I have received full refunds of all expenses for the cancellation. As a loyal Scenic customer I had 4 other future bookings. The compensation of 25% off the next booking, caused Scenic to go down in my books, as they said I couldn’t transfer the 25% off my next existing booking (the Arctic), it could only be applied to a “new” future booking. So because I was loyal, I was being penalised and needed to have a 5th booking..........

............well that wasn’t going to happen, and as we really wanted to experience the Antarctic, we made a new booking for Feb 2020 and I cancelled one of the other cruises. We also have a land tour booking to Egypt this year.

So we are about 3 weeks off paying the full amount for the Arctic cruise. I have it in my mind that this won’t go ahead but really I have nothing to lose by keeping the booking, as I know we will get full refunds. I will hold off booking flights until I know it’s going to sail. However, I think I will send Scenic an email, requesting confirmation that in the likely event of cancellation, that I can then use the compensation discount on my next booking to Egypt and NOT have to make a new booking. What are your thoughts on this? Keep in mind that the Egypt tour substantially less $ than the cruise, as we had booked the penthouse, so 25% won’t be a hell of a lot in comparison.
