  1. What is the matter with you??? Some of us need to contact our bosses for time off; may want to call family members see if they want to go on the cruise, take a cursory look at airfare. I don't know why you have to be so negative in your response.

Agree with you! Sometimes just browsing you might see a good deal even though you had no intentions of booking...you need time to make sure it will all come together.

  2. Another vote for Royston's Tour. We toured with Royston in March & it was one of my favorite excursions of all time & I am not usually a 'tour' type person! Royston is so warm & personable & really knows how to show off his island.

There are a lot of pics & info on his tour in my review if you are interested. Royston's tour starts on page 5.

This pic capture's Royston's fun side.

And here is his 'open air' van.

Oh my gosh!! I want to go on Roystons tours! Does he have other drivers, and if so do they drive thru fields and shortcuts like he does?

  3. I've been wanting to check in for our cruise in Nov since Friday (3 days ago). When I logged in to RCI my reservation was no longer listed. I typed the info in again to try to get it to show, keep getting a message "ressy can't be accessed at this time try again later). I called my TA to make sure they didn't delete my reservation. They said no, its probably being finalized. Has anyone ever had their reservation unavailable for this amount of time? Going on the Anthem and when we complete our check in we can choose our "arrival time to check in at port".

  4. Can anyone here post a comparison or preference between the Elegance and Silver moon catamaran trips?

    Thank you.

I would be interested in any comments between the 2. We were on Silver Moon a few years ago and it was one of the best excursions we ever took (it sounds very similar to Elegance). Going back to Barbados and looking to book again.

  5. We're just off Anthem and we did DD Classic on an early (6pm) sitting. We started our rotation with The Grande on the first night and the dress code was relaxed, presumably as some people may not have had their luggage delivered or hadn't had chance to unpack. The rotation, for us at least, was

    Night 1. The Grande

    Night 2. Silk

    Night 3. American Icon

    Night 4. Chic

    etc.

and we just rotated through them. This meant that on our 14 night cruise we had The Grande and Silk 4 times, and American Icon and Chic 3 times.

We had a table for 4 and were always out well within 2 hours, normally within 90 minutes. We always had the same table in each restaurant and we were able to walk straight in. There was never any problems with the shows. They can either be booked (We Will Rock You, The Gift, Spectra's Cabaret) or are first come, first served. For the booked ones, they will open the doors to people without tickets 10 minutes before the show starts in order to fill up empty spaces.

As for dress code, I saw men being handed jackets in The Grande, and there is a sign outside stating that jackets must be worn. I never wore a tux, but me and my 13 y.o. son always wore suits, shirts with ties. Boys and younger teens (male) were able to 'get away' without jackets. Dress code in the other DD restaurants is smart casual, and people's interpretation of what that meant varied wildly. I never saw anyone being challenged over what they wore in those restaurants. Khaki pants and a polo shirt will be fine.

    :)

That is very helpful, thank you!

  6. We have been on 10 RCI cruises, including Oasis, Explorer, Freedom. We went on our first Celebrity (Silhouette) a year ago. It was by far the best cruise food/service wise we have been on. Definitely thought it a step above RCI. We loved the little touches, champagne on boarding, the cool towels as you are returning from port. I was really impressed one day it was raining as we were returning to the ship, they had umbrellas for us to use to get from the building to the tenders. We ate in the main dining room every night. Of course a big nudge for us to try Celebrity was the offer of free beverage package :D

  7. Great review! We sailed our first Celebrity (Silhouette) 2 years ago, and this year we sailed our first Princess (Regal). We mainly cruise RCI with a few Carnival as well. The Silhouette was by far the best cruise we have been on. We found the food to be the best we have experienced on any ship. We loved the MUTS on Princess and was able to watch the Super Bowl out there! We did find the Horizons buffet to be a little confusing. We have actually booked Silhouette again for next year (free beverage package is a factor). We liked both cruises but for us Celebrity was a notch above Princess.

  8. Thanks for your replies. I called RCI to double check it is available on my sailing and it is, they said they could book it if I wasn't with a TA. We are under a group booking (big TA) so not sure if that is the reason why they couldn't book us. I did call my TA again this afternoon and said I had talked with RCI and would she please call them again.

This is one of the many reasons I love cruise critic. People on here usually know what is going on:)

  9.

Thanks again :) Unfortunately my TA tried to reserve the classic and was told by RCI that it is not open for booking yet for our cruise in November on Anthem. I'll need to keep checking on it so I don't miss out!
