  1. We did the Dead Mans Reef snorkel trip when in Freeport this past October. Did another a couple of years ago in Nassau. For the money I think Dead Mans Reef is the best deal. Great reef to see all sorts of fish and coral the people there were all friendly and helpful. 35$ and they pick you up from the ship. Supply snorkel equipment, and bring you back to the ship. They also have food and drinks if you want. Also don't have to pay until you get there. So if the ship doesn't pull in then you aren't waiting to get your refund to your credit card.

  2. When we were there in October we went to the Queens staircase and Fort Fincastle. Pretty neat places to see for the history. Didn't do everything on the Frommers list but enough to satisfy our curiosity. Then hit the Straw Market and Senor Frogs then on to Junkanoo Beach so my daughter could swim for awhile. Easily done in an afternoon.

  3. I bet that was an awesome sight to see the fireworks.

I just realized something else, and that is that I am not plagued with "mal de debarquement" after this cruise (where you still feel the motion of the ocean even after being back on dry land). Of all my 10 cruises, this is the first time I have not had that afterwards. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that our view was forward rather than watching the water rush by on the sides....just wondering. I guess that phenomenon would be kind of like people who get car sick in the rear seat but not in the front seat while looking out the front windshield.

I spent more time in the cabin than ever before, too. DH wants another cabin like this for our next cruise, but they are very hard to come by. Just doing a quick check, I only found one available for the time span of November 2014-March 2015 :(

When we booked last year we had no idea about these rooms the PVP told us about them. They don't usually come up as an option when you try and book yourself. Or at least not in our searches. Just lucked into it. Really enjoyed it though. It was my mom's first cruise ever so she will be really spoiled if she ever goes again. Did still have the feeling of the ocean when we got on land but not as bad other times.

  4. Have never done the Pat and Diane tour.

We did the Paradise Cove snorkeling trip when in Freeport this past October. It was really nice. Saw tons of fish and coral. Barry will answer all of your questions quickly on the website. Don't have to pay in advance either so if the port gets canceled for some reason you don't have the hassle of getting a refund. 35$ they pick you up from the ship provide your equipment and bring you back. They are pretty mindful of your ships departure time and from experience I know they will come out and let you know that the shuttle will be leaving shortly.

  5. is there a map that shows you how to walk there and the straw market - is it far??? from the port where the epic docks.

Frommers has Historic Nassau walking tour found at:

This is a map for the Frommers Walking tour

It is probably a mile and a half walk to the staircase and Fort Fincastle. Straw market is maybe a 1/4 mile.

There is a good view from the Fort. If you can see Senor Frogs from the ship the Straw Market is just before it on the left.

  6. When we were in Freeport we did a non Carnival excursion to Paradise Cove/ Deadmans Reef. 35$ they pick you up from the ship and supply snorkel equipment and bring you back. You have to swim a ways out to the reef but it is well worth it. Lots of fish and things to see. People are very friendly. Google and it will come up. You don't have to pay in advance either and they pick up right there by the dock. Also beach there if you don't want to snorkel. Bar and food too.

  7. Secret doors are just doors that lead to the outside of the ship usually in the front. I have never been on Inspiration but in looking at the deck plan it looks as if there may be one on the Verandah deck and maybe Atlantic. Just go all of the way forward and it will look like and exit door or crew door.

  8. We always get one also. That way we don't have to just have water or coffee with our meals. I don't do coffee.

Also we order rum from Bon Voyage and just mix our own drinks. Saves alot compared to buying the drinks on board. My wife likes to order the DOD virgin and add her own rum also. They are only about 5$ for the virgin drinks.
