  1. Our last (and hopefully final) move to South Carolina was quite an experience.  The movers were scheduled for packing on Tuesday, loading on Wednesday and unloading at our new house on Friday. Monday afternoon we had major thunderstorms and the power went out.  It was still out Tuesday morning so I went to the sporting goods store and bought battery powered lanterns. Packing was not bad except for the basement where it was rather dark and quite hot and humid. Power still off Wednesday while they loaded the truck. We had planned on cleaning Wednesday and early Thursday before driving to the new house.  We did what we could without power Wednesday and went to sleep on the floor.  Power finally came back on Thursday morning.  We did a few things then packed the cars and left. Unloading went uneventfully.

I have always laughed that it happened that way to keep me from being emotional about leaving the house we had lived in for almost 30 years.  We moved into the house before we had kids and they had left before we moved. Lots of memories in that house.

That is the important one.  We won't book a B2B (or more) unless same cabin.  Love being unpacked already for next leg.  😉

Our next b2b is in suite guarantee rooms both legs.  Chances of them being the same is slim.  But the total cost was $1300 less than 2 selected junior suites.  For that much I will spend a couple of hours packing and another hour unpacking.  I usually try for the same room, but this was too good to pass up.

    Crystal block arrived.

Figures they give us this on the cruise where we don't have any weight to spare in the suitcases.

One of our crystal blocks came when we were flying and didn’t think we would have room.  Later in the cruise we were talking to a couple who told us that they were on their honeymoon.  We gave the block to them and they were thrilled.

  4. I have a question for our tech gurus or at least those who know what they are doing!

I have an iPhone 13.  I use it here every day, but next month we’re sailing from Southampton.  Flying into Heathrow we booked a car service. They want me to call after we get our luggage.  I’ve never used my phone to call when I am in a different country.  I’ve tried google, but I’m confused.  It seems like I need to dial +44 and their number.  Is that right?  My T Mobile has included international calls.  This will probably be the only actual call I make! The kids and I use texting most of the time with Skype calls.

I concur.  I have since changed my mind since that original posting.  P to Z does seem to be a better deal.  There are some P amenities that I would miss - breakfast in CK or specialty restaurant and also BOGO specialty. But overall I think the P to Z move is an improvement.

I think the drink package is a great perk but honestly, I don't even use the 6 Pinn vouchers that I get now.  I think overall the drink package will go pretty much unused....but unlimited laundry is a nice perk !

We won’t be pinnacle until next spring, but we rarely use all 5 vouchers.

Months ago we booked a Celebrity cruise out of Port Canaveral (our favorite port).  At the time we discussed booking cruise only or all inclusive and decided we wouldn’t drink enough to do the all in.  Now they gave it to us!  We’re very happy.

Our last cruise on an oasis class ship was filled with teenagers.  Even if they were well behaved (and almost all were) it was crowded and noisy.  That’s when we began looking more at Celebrity.  I guess we’ve reached a point in our lives where we want a little more relaxed environment.  We’ve enjoyed our past cruises on Celebrity, but the C&A benefits kept us booking RC.

    @ATG Here is the setup.

    20240604_163706.thumb.jpg.2f0caafbc9eb9dbdc0527a993136b9df.jpg

2 US outlets, 2 USBs, and a European outlet.

For the European outlet, we bought one of these and it is always in the bag since every Royal ship we have sailed on has the Euro plug.

    20240604_163739.thumb.jpg.9a0b872e403517c0ff6dfba0baa80202.jpg

So we get extra US outlets, as well as USB and USB-C.

Thanks for the quick response.  One more (for now) - is there a USB on the nightstand? I like to use my phone to see the time at night.  I’m looking forward to your Norway portion, I’ll have questions about the weather then.

I just checked my Celebrity status and listing is weird. 2 are correct but I don't understand the 3rd listing for 1970 which never took place.  I also remember cruising to Bermuda 2 years in a row, not 4 years apart. With the 2013 point conversion I have 90 club points.  I'm Select status whatever that means.

My RC cruise history has a cruise in 1970 for Dave and me.  In 1970 I was a sophomore in high school and Dave had just graduated high school.  We didn’t meet until 1973 in college and didn’t take our first cruise until 1981.

In fairness, I really don't know since I've never used a solo supplement...but I BELIEVE that there are exemptions from the solo supplement and I don't THINK that suites are included.  I know that certain times of the year (holidays, peak summer time, etc.) are exempt.  Hopefully someone with more direct knowledge will help.

Junior suites are included.  We are cruising with our adult son and booked a JS for just my husband and an interior for my son and me.  The 50% off the single supplement (150% instead of 200%) was a considerable savings.  We’ll get extra keys and tip the JS steward extra since he will have 2 people but only tips for one.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I also have a question about room keys. DH and I have a CLS (Oasis of the Seas) booked and our 2 adult kids and their spouses would like to join us. I want the 4 of them to have access to all of the suite amenities, so if I book the 4 of them into a GS, will we be able to get 2 extra keys to our CLS, so they will be able to sleep in and/or come/go into/out of our CLS? Hope I didn't word this too confusing. TIA!

Yes, you can get extra keys (cards) for your cabin. The suite concierge can make them, saving you a trip to guest services.

Have you ever done this? When our Holy Land cruise last year got changed to remove Israel from our itinerary 1 week before our cruise, the last thing on my mind was calling my insurance company to try to get money back for the changed ports. Yes, we had to miss all of Israel, but gained beautiful ports that were never on our radar

    Do people do this?

If you paid the premium for the coverage why wouldn’t you file a claim?

You youngster, you!   My 50 year college reunion is this year.

My wife will have her 50 year high school reunion next year too.  She will be matching ages with you and John when she has her birthday next month.

You are a youngster too! My 50th wedding anniversary is this summer.  Guess what we’re doing to celebrate - we’re cruising!  We couldn’t find a special one we liked on the actual date, so we’re going early.  We got married on Labor Day weekend so that Dave could work as long as possible and we could have a few days before college classes began.  We were poor married students for 2 more years before we graduated and got real jobs.

  12. @SteelCityCruiser10  My condolences on the loss of your bestest boy. I understand how devastating this is.  We lost our “baby girl “ right after Christmas, I’m not sure she was our best girl, but we did love her, quirks and all.  I still find myself looking for her when I come home, she was always happy to see us.  The only thing I can offer is that you gave him the best life possible filled with love. And I firmly believe he will be waiting for you.

So glad you are a ManU fan!  I didn't want to not like you 🤣.  Our DS got us hooked on them from here in the US.  We have seen them play 3 times here in the US and in 2019 went to Old Trafford for last game of the season.  It has been a rough season to be sure.  😪

Wow, I would love to go there for a game. We started watching the EPL decades ago when our sons started playing.  We wanted to see what the game really looked like.  My favorite moment was when my husband was coaching tykes (under 6) and in the middle of the game he called a time out for the kids to look at the blimp flying overhead.  He figured they would all stop playing and it was better to just stop for a minute.
