  1. Our itinerary has changed due to weather.  We are on Odyssey OTS and are skipping the Azores.
So instead they have added a 5 hour stop in Funchal.  We are there tomorrow from only 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  Are there shops close by that might still be open?  Is there an outstanding restaurant nearby? Anything close to port to see in that short of time?

    TIA!

Today we booked the Bold Bets and Bourbon promotion on Harmony out of Galveston on Jan 28.  Ours was a Grand Suite with offer 24WWB0102.  Anyone else taking an offer for this cruise? I'm so curious what delights the tasting dinner will provide and what the other "special events" will be!

Would love this but didn’t get the invite!  Not the big gambler some of y’all are!

  4. On Odyssey OTS...which balcony rooms have the largest balconies?

(Not suites...just "balcony" cabins.) Particularly interested in 1C but also curious about other categories.

Please list specific cabin # and category.

I realize not all balconies in the same category are the same size....therefore, greatly appreciate cabin numbers/locations/ all specific details you can list.

Thanks to all of you experienced Odyssey cruisers!

    Portovenere.
The bus line to Portovenere is the 11/P (duration: about 30 minutes, cost 3 euros). One bus every 10-30 minutes.

just walk across towards the funky church opposite the cruise terminal. Bus stop 🚏 is by the colonnades. Get your tickets from the tabacchi on your right as you look at the colonnade ( green awning I think)

Thanks so much. I see it all now. From these tables, it looks like the train back to LaSpezia is 5 PM and that would be cutting it awful close. I will wait until the 2023 times come out.

    Thanks so much once again.

    Cheers

Judging by the sign it is a Focacceria -- a place specializing in making focaccia, which originated in Liguria area.

    I love focaccia!!!

    Hi,

Since you arrive at mid day you are limited as to what you can do , the train to Soller is out of the question.

Personally my suggestion is to take the shuttle into to Palma it will drop you opposite the cathedral ,this would be my first stop it truly lovely .

you now in the old town and there are various other historical sites to see ( Almudaina Palace and the Arab baths.)

you will be in the centre of all the best shops and you can spend time exploring around this area.

all of this is easy walking and you are near the shuttle back to the ship.

adding this there might be something else that takes your fancy.

I am sure that is part of it Vera. We were getting decent offers right on up until they lifted the testing.

Now for Diamond lounge access. Can a Diamond level bring in a guest ?

No.  The lounges are overcrowded as it is.  With the drink vouchers there really isn't a need to go "hang out" or even "drink" in the lounge.  If you need to see the concierge then go in most definitely but no need to take a guest with you.

  11. Roger....

What would you recommend for our group of 6 to 8 based on the following....

We would prefer to do something possibly nearer the port.

We have done the Drach Caves.  We have done Valdemossa. We have done the Nadal Academy.

Some of us have mobility issues (no wheelchairs, etc just don't need 100 stairs or steep hills to climb).

Maybe somewhere with a nice lunch?  Some shopping?  History? Architecture?

We had to walk 3+ miles last time to get the rental car so no rental car this time!!!!

Need something with a taxi from the ship or a tour guide that picks us up at the ship, etc.

    Thanks so much!!!

Portovenere is my favorite town in all of Italy. I revisit in my dreams often.

Any particular things to see?  Are there great little shops with Italian products?  (olive oil, etc)  Any great restaurant for lunch?

Any recommendations for transportation to get there from the ship?

    Or a tour guide?

    Thanks so much!

    Gibraltar without the apes?

Assuming you will be up there  in a vehicle of some description, the person with the fear of apes could simply stay inside the vehicle for the short duration of that stop, and if she does not want to see them even from the inside of the vehicle, could cover eyes with a scarf or some other item.

Could you be referring to Casemates Square for eating/shopping?

Easiest way to find the location would be to google the "glass factory and shop" as results should give you an address.

I agree with your friend. These “apes” can get aggressive. She should stay on the ship and enjoy the sea views. Gibraltar is underwhelming and a waste of money.

The historic Main Street area is walkable from the ship, so definitely okay in a taxi.  All the food we came across is a bit what we call in the UK  'chips with everything' but we had a pleasant lunch in an outdoor cafe, as far as I remember.

If any of your group are interested in naval history, the museum(s) (I think there are several) look worth a visit, though we did not visit, as we used up most of our time going up the rock on the cable car.

and , yes, the apes are aggressive and to be avoided (but when you see how some tourists treat them, its not surprising).

Yes, Gibraltar Crystal was in Casemates Square.

Sadly it closed several years ago.

I am trying to understand "2 hours" between La Spezia and Riomaggiore (the closest Cinque Terre Village).  We have driven that route (multiple times) and it's about a 30 minute drive.  Even driving to the most distant village, Monterosso al Mare should only take about an hour.   We agree with the suggestion to visit Portovenere since it is relatively close and a charming place (unless it is overrun with tourists).

    Hank

Thanks for the suggestion of Portovenere.

Don't know what to say about our experience of CT.  Not sure why it took so long.  Maybe our driver/guide took us on the "long way"?!?

Just know that everyone in the mini-bus were "green" and wanting to kiss the ground when we got to the first village and for sure when we returned to the port.
