  1. I remember the bucket in the Lido to catch the drip. It took one table out of service. Hard to believe it is still an issue.

If AC is still an issue when we cruise in April and we both decide we want to try the Panama repo for a third time in April, 2015 maybe we should consider the Westerdam. Whadaya think?

Good idea :D;). You should switch the 2014 cruise to the Westerdam too.

  2. You could be first off the ship and on the bus, but the bus will not leave until everyone else who has booked HAL transportation has cleared customs and arrived. That can take a while.

We took HAL transportation once in NYC and there was a long wait on the bus. One couple got fed up and left the bus to take a taxi. At that point the bus driver commented that people should not book HAL transportation for a flight that departs before noon.

You have to consider that if there are a number of ships in port the airport will have long lineups once you get there.

Not meaning to sound like the voice of doom. Just throwing a few points out for consideration. I am well aware that it takes longer to actually get to the airport in NYC than FLL but the potential for delay in the bus leaving the port is the same.

Is your HAL transfer refundable? Honestly, it is so easy to grab a cab for the ten minutes it would take to get to the air terminal that it might be worth considering. The cab for two people would most likely be less expensive and you would be on your way as soon as you clear customs.

There was a time when I would only take Hal transfers. Now I'm getting to think they are more of a pain then anything. Agree with what you say.

  3. How unfortunate that now the Tamarind is charging $7.50 for an alternative lunch. More 'options' more up charges. Just makes me feel bummed.

It's not an option on the Eurodam right now. It's still free and there are still other options. The MDR was closed almost everyday of my cruise including sea days for the mariners brunch. That's something to be bummed about.

  4. Princess board has been reporting bad backups at LA on some sailings recently, so it's not just Port Everglades.

Remember that ships are starting to arrive back in the US for the winter, so more ships equals each getting less agents. Also Royal Princess arrived in the US for the first time this morning so I wouldn't be surprised if some agents got diverted over to her to do her full inspection.

I was not bad when I debarked in April 2013 from Princess in LA

  5. I love sushi/sashimi, but DH does not. Are there other choices?

I'm just finishing my cruise on the Eurodam. They do not have the sushi lunch right now as they are upgrading it but it sounds like it will be back. They have the normal lunch right now which is soup, salad and dumplings. I enjoyed it more this time than I have in the past. The MDR was closed most of the time for lunch on this cruise.

  6. Oh wow... You are absolutely correct! I should have not referenced you in the top (pro) posters. I just read some of your comments. You and I have much more in common on this topic than not.

As for your comment about me beating this thing to death... Well, I have how many posts on this thread?? and you have how many? Just saying

I do find this one of the more lively topics... It can get boring just when the topic is just a, "hold hands around the campfire and sing songs of praise".

This is one of the few topics here that may really have an effect on every person who brings wine on a ship, so why not talk about it?

besides you...... the remainder of the top posters seem keep beating this to death and that is OK???

You have less posts because it's likely that so many of your posts have been removed for being against the guidelines. I'm not quite sure why you feel the need to get on everyone's case. If you don't agree with something move on. If people are happy submitting a petition to Hal what difference could it possibly make to your life. If they are successful or not how is that changing your life?

I am not coming back to this thread because some folks just need to win. I have more important things to deal with in my life.

  7. Let's recap what we do know for fact here....

Some of folks with the most number of posts here.

    Kazu - 108

    surfergirle -92

    Startwin - 58

    Lorekauf - 53

    innlady1 - 35

That would be 346 of the 1,342 posts. So, is this really a big deal to HAL? or even a big deal here on the boards? or.... just a few dominating the conversation?

I am not stating that I am in favor or not... I just don't think a petition or letter writing campaign from a small number of people will matter. But, let's see - the proof will be in January.

    Interesting????

And your point is? I really don't care about their new or old policy. I think I've brought one bottle on wine on the ship in all my 300 days. I've had rude comments made about me because I really don't care about this. Hal is in business to make money. That is the bottom line. If this influences their decision so be it. If it doesn't that's fine too. I just don't understand the persistence by you to beat this thing to death. As if it hasn't been done already:rolleyes:. Surely you must have better things to do.

  8. Perhaps they were staying in the Penthouse and entertaining a number of their friends! We all know what happens when you assume:o

Yes, people pipe in with a list of excuses........

I was in the penthouse on my last cruise. For the first time in almost 300 days with Hal I brought one bottle of wine on. Is it a prerequisite to bring lots of wine on when you are in the ph. Maybe they were in an inside room and drank like fish. You know what happens when you assume .......

  9. I doubt anyone's challenging you veracity. My question is whether this is an exceptional occurrence or do you experience it frequently? I've experienced just the opposite where servers are over-zealous in refilling glasses to the point where it seems like they are trying to "push" wine sales.

I wish they would push. Pretty much every cruise I've had since I've switched to open has been like this. When I cruise on Princess, I never have a problem and the waiters do the serving. Frankly, I just don't get why they are so slow. The last one was "busy" making oragami animals and taking pictures:rolleyes:.

  10. Seriously, if you want an inattentive wine steward to pay attention, just reach for the bottle and pour it yourself. I can almost guarantee that they will notice and you won't have to do it twice. I've had to do that maybe three times on various cruises. It works like a charm. They are mortified that you would do that. I suspect they don't want their supervisor seeing that.

Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of getting your wine in the first place - or if they have a white chilling out of your sight.

That's the problem. Usually I'm sitting at a larger table and the wine is tucked away somewhere where I can't see it. I had another person at the table pour me some and they couldn't have cared less but it wasn't that apparent. If I get out of my chair I think that would be more noticable. They just don't seem to care. I know people say it hasn't happened to them but what reason would I have for lying? About the only thing left is getting up on the table and screaming for the guy:D.

  11. Totally confused. 3 star Mariner , but have not been on line for years. Now taking the Oosterdam for 41 days Seattle to Auckland.

Can I ask for the present wine policy as of today.

    Wine size... Does that matter??

    Wine per cabin or person??

As long as it's before Jan 31, 2014 bring as much wine as you can "lug":D. In this case, size doesn't matter.
