  1. Another voice saying they should, " Go, go, go."

We are both in our 70's and love Carnival cruises. Even with the mobility challenges that we each have, we love the spirit of the crew and cruisers on Carnival. There are plenty of things to do , or not do; the choices are varied enough to make those decisions.

We have never felt that age was a factor. The slogan, All for Fun and Fun for All has been our experience no matter which Carnival ship we've been on.

Be sure to come back with a review to let us know how they enjoyed it.

  2. Looking forward to your review because we are sailing on the Pride for the first time in November. I am so happy that your mother is doing well and that you were able to take her on the promised cruise. Congratulations on all of the events you celebrated.

We have requested wheelchair assist for embarkation and debarkation due to mobility issues. My husband has very limited mobility do to leg cramping and I have bad knees so we will both use wheelchairs for boarding and leaving. My husband uses a rollator *walker with wheels and a chair when we cruise so we have to fold it up and carry that on. I have already received their confirmation on service.

Did you park in the handicapped area of the parking lot ? I will need to drop my husband off and then park because of his issue of not being able to walk very far. Was that parking convenient to the building ?

We do have FTTF. Was your room a handicapped one ? I'll be interested in hearing how things worked out for you. I can't wait for Nov. to come.

  3. My husband had said he didn't want to go on any more cruises. I attribute that to the fact we cruised on the Breeze one week before he was scheduled for thyroid surgery and I think he just wasn't feeling well due to his health.

One day, though, he slipped and said something about how relaxing cruising was. So I booked a cruise without telling him. A month later, on Valentine's Day, I gave him a card about our JOURNEY through life together.(We've been married for 47 years.) Next, I gave him a card that was a Bon Voyage card. He said, "Oh, oh, where are we going?"

At that point, I handed him my iPad all cued up to the Power Point I had made all about our upcoming cruise. You can see the Power Point at the beginning of the review of the Freedom in my signature. Watching him view and read the Power Point was a lot of fun and a fun surprise.

  4. Finally, finally I finished this wonderful review. It seems I would start reading and something interrupted me. This sitting, I was determined to read to the very end no matter what. Now, I don't have time or the energy to cook dinner, so carry out it will be...oh, so sad, isn't it ? LOL

Your review and photos were awesome. We are sailing on the Pride for the first time in Nov. Since we live in the state of Delaware, we are only a 90 min drive away which will be wonderful. Traveling is becoming more of a challege for us due to husband's mobility issues.

We have sailed the Miracle, and the Legend which are sister ships of the Pride, but I never was interested in the itineraries offered by the Pride. Since my husband and I are now at a point in our 70's where we enjoy the cruise experience enough that the ports are not that important, we are doing the Pride. The Spirit class ships are perfect for us.

I loved all of your photos and your comments. I cannot wait to see all of the features of the ship for myself.

Your family is beautiful. What lovely memories you have to share for years to come. Thanks again for taking me along on your adventures. Enjoy Bermuda.

  5. Hey Kim,

Thanks for the birthday greetings. You and your mom should join us on the Pride on 11-15-15 from Baltimore. Not the most exciting itinerary, but good price and best of all we can be at the port in less than two hours. No flight, no hotel, just jump in the car and go. Believe it or not, it was Morgan's idea. He said, " I need a cruise." Yippee !

  6. My husband has cruised with a C Pap for five cruises (including the Miracle) and I have just been diagnosed with sleep apnea so now we will have his and her C Pap machines ! How romantic !

I do let Special Need Dept know. I have purchased distilled water from them via our cabin steward, but they say the ship water is as filtered as distilled so for the last few cruises I've just used ship water.

No paper work is necessary. I do take an extra long extension cord and duck tape because the outlet is too far away from the side of the bed. Our cruise in Nov. will be challenging since we will have two machines, but I'll have to work that out.

As you can see in the photo, I tape the cord to the rug for the duration of the cruise to assure that we don't trip on it when we get up during the night. There has never been a problem. The stewards just vacuum right over the tape.

I hope this helps. I pack the extension cord right in the bag with the C Pap machine by the way. It is considered medical equipment so there should never be a problem with it.

  7. Hi Jeff, I loved this review because you covered just about anything anyone needs to know. We will be taking our first Pride cruise on 11-15-15. We will be doing, 'that other itinerary,' but it will be just fine for us. Since we are not beach people and are somewhat limited by husband's mobility issues, we are flexible about staying on the ship or getting off. On our recent Freedom cruise, we stayed on the ship at Grand Turk for those reasons.

Even though we live in Delaware and can be at the port in less than two hours, we've always cruised from FL. We are anxious to do the short drive this time. I'm so glad you posted photos of the parking lot so that we could see just how close the handicapped parking is. We have FTTF again and also have a handicapped cabin for the first time. (7260 with the extended balcony,) so we are thrilled on both counts. Having sailed the Legend and the Miracle, we love the Spirit class ships. I can't wait to plop myself down by a porthole in the Sunset Garden. I LOVE those hidden treasures.

I love Patti's photos. I'm happy for Ryan's new computer, what a fantastic way to be reminded of his favorite cruise. Thanks again for sharing your family trip with each of us. I'll do the same after our cruise.

One non-Pride question for you. Do you have to change the font size and color each time you write a post ? It is so easy to read your reviews because of those factors. I like to write a review each time we cruise, but I never knew if they was a way to make the process more simple.

Looking forward to your next review and I, too, do hope that someday we will be on the same ship at the same time !

  8. Yeah I don't think I'll be able to last until out cruise in December. I will have to check out your review of the Legend to see pics from the Bar Hop. Your hubby was the smart one staying on the bus at Coconuts. I think I will do that next time. Those steps were BRUTAL. What stop did we have that was different from yours.

Thanks Again for the well wishes for my dad. He started dialysis this week and so far so good.....hopefully it stays that way.

I'll be looking for your review of the Pride in November. [emoji2]

The Legend review was the first time I tried to insert photos. It took me a little while to 'get it,' so the photos kick in later. You will eventually get to them. In the meantime, just enjoy the descriptions; photos will follow.

  9. Brianna, you've done it again. Now I don't know how I'll last until our Pride cruise in November ! I just told my husband, "I want to cruise NOW." I was reading your review when I said it, of course.

We loved the Cozumel Bar Hop and we don't even drink much. We had the shots and one drink at Rastas. I have some beautiful photos in my review of the Legend. I promote that tour whenever I can because it was so much FUN. You had one stop that was different than ours. I totally agree about the steps at Coconuts !!

My husband stayed on the bus at Coconuts because of his mobility issues and I can tell you my close to 70 year old arthritic knees found it a real challenge to get up and down those steps. I don't like, 'creatures, ' and I was afraid something would jump out at me on those steps. LOL, I could just see me trying to get away from whatever it might have been. I didn't even like those 'grasshoppers,' that guy was making !

Thank you again for the time and effort in putting your review together. I love escaping with reviews. Hope the dialysis is going well. I'll be praying for a transplant call for your dad. When they called my husband to offer him a transplant, they had to call him at the dialysis center to ask him if he wanted it ! His answer was, "Absolutely." That was the best call we've ever received. Hoping you will experience that same joy one day.

Happy traveling in Dec. I'll wait for that review.

  10. Brianna, I knew i should have waited until you were finished with your review before starting to read it. Its like watching your favorite television show and they end every episode with a cliff hanger and you have to wait a week to see what happens next lol.

As always great review and cant wait to see more.

Question for you though, is it better to use Carnival's excursions or go through others instead? Also can you give me some ideas / tips for places to take my kiddos while we are in Fort Lauderdale pre cruise? Places that are fairly inexpensive and close to the Sheraton at Cypress Creek. We will be staying there for two days before the cruise. I wont have a rental car and am not driving so would need something that is within walking distance or that we could take a cab, Uber, etc without it costing an arm and a leg.

There is a nice science museum in FLL, I don' t remember the cost. There used to be a website, Things to Do with Kids in FLL, or something like that. Goggle it. Butterfly World was wonderful, but may be far from where you are staying. The water taxi might be a good way to get around.

Whatever you do, AVOID cabs in FLL. We had to use them in Dec and they were HORRIBLE...expensive, rude, just awful. Use UBER instead. If I had known about UBER, I would have used them.

  11. Oh, YES ! Another review by Jamman54 ! I am excited that we will sailing on the Pride on Nov. 15. It will be our first time on the Pride and the first time out of Baltimore even though we live only 90 min away near Dover, DE. We've been on the Legend and the Miracle so we're really happy to be able to enjoy another Spirit class ship.

Patti is an awesome photographer. She makes you feel as if you are right there. Between your writing and her photos, I sit and smile as I read. Thank you both for giving us the pleasure of sailing with you.

  12. So great to hear from you, Calamity Jane! I like the way you think. ;) Maybe I'll do the Pride in both July AND November. That way I'll know all the things that could get you in trouble and we can make sure we do them! Well, one can dream.

Thanks for your kind words about Poppi. It's always reassuring to hear from those who have had successful transplants. I'm so glad you and your husband are able to continue cruising and I hope Gigi and Poppi will be back on the water real soon!

My best to you and your husband. See you on the Pride! :D

OOOPS, I see I forgot to come back to reply to your message. Sorry about that.

That's the spirit, H. Yes, come on and do both July and November. We can have such fun. I know we can give a whole new experience to those at the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast.

So get booked soon and we can make plans.

  13. As always and as everyone else has said, I'm enjoying your review. I, too, wish your Dad well. My husband spent several years on dialysis so I know it is an adjustment. His doctor had told us about the cruises that provide dialysis services but we never really explored the option. We had never cruised before and weren't sure we wanted to do that. My husband was blessed to receive a kidney transplant just two days after his 65th birthday. That was 12 years ago and we are planning cruise #7 in November on the Pride. I hope that your dad will cruise again soon, too.

  14. 7260 balcony is also long, however it is a handicap cabin, so you may have to give it up if someone needs it. Also, it has some issues - less closet & drawer space, no sofa, and the bathroom floor gets wet every time you shower because there is no barrier on the floor to keep water in the shower (plus the tile does not drain towards the shower drain!!!). It stays wet a lot because it takes a while to dry.

We need a handicapped cabin, so we are booked in 7260. Thank you for the heads up on the issue of water on the floor. Is there any way to deal with the shower water since there is no barrier ? Would towels work to absorb some of the water while you shower ?

Is the balcony just longer or is it a little wider as well ?

  15. Yippee Skippee, It is my cruise buddy, "H," back with another review. As always, I loved the review and was happy to meet your daddy and your Poppi and Gigi. Happy to see your mommy and grandma again, too.

I'll be praying that your Poppi receives a new liver. My husband received a kidney transplant almost 12 years ago a few days after his 65th birthday, so I hope there is a match soon for you Poppi.

I think you and Mommy and Daddy need to switch that Pride cruise to Nov. 15 so we can cruise together again. This time we can meet and have green eggs and ham together. By then, your mom will have her tenure and she can tell her bosses, "Hey, get someone to teach a few of my classes for the week, I'm going on a cruise so that Calamity Jane doesn't get into any trouble." It will be an act of public service.

See you on the Pride !!

  16. Thanks everyone!

Delta dear, I loved your review, thanks! MarcelLucSel, thanks for the pics. Looks like a fun time. I'm an elementary teacher too and my mom was an elementary school librarian, so of course we're excited about this! Oh yeah, and I guess my kids might like it too ;)

Elementary teachers and librarians never grow up, do we? You will have a ball, I'm sure. Glad you enjoyed my review. I hope you will do one when you come back, too.

  17. I'm just joining those who are wishing you well. I use a TA who requires the final payment from us two weeks before the Carnival final payment date just to be sure that everything has time to be completed before the mad rush of others making those final payments just at the due date.

I'm sure that this will never happen again to you, so make the best of the lesson. Many have benefited from your post and no doubt your children have learned a lesson for their future. Double check whatever you do, only you have your best interests at heart.

Have fun... lemons to lemonade. Look at the positive side. You are still going on a family vacation; what could be better than that.

  18. You can check my Freedom Review for what you are asking about. It's from my perspective as a 72 year old young at heart retired elementary teacher. I LOVED it. My friends and I went and didn't have a child with us at all. It was fun! You'll love it. The red and white parfait is cute but SWEET, way too SWEET.

    Enjoy.
