  1. I was thinking that if multiple people are involved, they might not want to chance cancelling/rebooking. But if it was just me and DH, I'd do it. Even if there is a rebooking wait period, you could probably get a cabin for 2 at a better price, but multiple cabins would be harder.

Ah, I see what you are saying. I think it is just two of them.

The whole wait period is the big issue if he does cancel but these prices are liable to just jump up after the Tuesday sale. I would hate to see him end up with no cabin in his price range and no cruise.

  2. Just one inside cabin.

I don't think it will hurt you to say it or not say it. I don't think the number of cabins makes a difference either.

Just call them and ask some questions, be specific and be polite. Don't change anything if you don't like what they offer.

You have to call though, so get off of here, go call and then come back and tell us about your new great cabin!;):D

  3. Oh...right...today is the 12th.

How would it work if I cancelled? They would refund me? how?

Should I mention to them I will just cancel and re-book (on the phone? )

I would ask if you can cancel and rebook to get an upgraded cabin or a lower rate. Put on the charm, explain that you are a first time cruisers trying to figure this out and really, really need their help. They will most likely say they can get you the upgraded cabin for what you paid already.

If they don't seem to have a clue as to what they are doing, don't change anything, thank them for their help and say you need to think about it. Hang up the phone and call back and see if you get a more experienced person.

  4. One more question, did you book direct with Royal or are you using a travel agent?

If you booked direct with Royal, call and ask if the rate you are seeing is for new reservations only. If it is for everyone then ask for the reduction or an upgrade.

If you used a travel agent they frequently have a final payment date due a week or more earlier than the cruise line. Call them and find out.

Good luck and let us know the outcome - we all hope it is not a Tuesday Sale rate.

It is on the Tuesday sale.

Rated, I would call and see what they will do for you. The sale is for new bookings only but many have posted here that they have been able to upgrade their cabin. Just remain calm and polite. Good luck.

  5. Okay, my bad. Confusing list though. I will say that RCI has done an impressive job of making sure this information is as unclear as possible. I mean, the most comprehensive list we can get is second hand from someone who emailed RCI? Why not get their act together and stop all this confusion.

Either way, I'm pretty slanted against it just because of the way it operates.

Give me a package where I can pay the difference over a certain about, and include ALL beverages under the amount, including coffees, waters and fresh juice and I'll think about it. This just seems like a cluster right now.

I agree the list could have been presented better by the cruiseline but I also wonder if there are actually column headings in the black horizontal line in the picture which we can't tell from the picture. That is why I questioned the OP in a prior post. The list is definitely broken up into distinct catagories, I wonder if the final column has a heading of "not included".

  6. Thanks then I will go to BevMo before the cruise and find two bottles of some good 750ml of Wine from Italy or France.

The fact that he was talking about how they wouldn't scan it means that he knew it wasn't okay. He is just surprised by the reactions he got, so he changed the story.

I quoted what he originally posted in his second post. He edited it between the time I saw it and now, but he knew.

Yup, he definitely knew especially since he was the first to bring up 2 750ml bottles of wine. No one else has mentioned size at all.

  7. We sailed on a five night Radiance cruise in 2011 where half the ship was a plumbing supply dealer group (included spouses and kids). The plumbers had meetings mostly in the theater and the conference room so they really didn't disturb the ship's routine. They were a hoot once the "official" work day ended, however:) We made a lot of new friends:)

This group sells a separate entertainment pass for $385 in addition to the cruise fare. They are all on main seating so that it will make it easier for their shows. They also picked Freedom because they needed larger venues so everyone in their group can see the shows.

Looks like they might be a little more intrusive than the plumbers.;):)

  8. Howdy! My husband and I are going on a cruise soon (FOS), and it has come to our attention that a rather large group of about 800 people are sailing with us.

Has anyone experienced this? We are worried that large groups like this can take over public spaces when they come together to meet and/or hang out. I understand that they have their own shows to go to in reserved sections of the ship, but I have heard horror stories of large groups "annoying" other passengers, getting in everyones way, and generally "taking over" parts of the ship. Any input would be great! I am hoping to hear some good stories... its too late for us to cancel now...

Google them, they have a very detailed website that has information from prior cruises. They have a lot of entertainment scheduled for this upcoming cruise. I wouldn't doubt the events will be private though from some of the pictures on their website, they have things by the pools too.

I wouldn't want to sail with a group that large unless I was with the group. Good luck.

Edit to add a question: Why didn't you reschedule in October when you found out about the group?

  9. Here's the deal.....125,000 Drury Inn points equals one Royal Caribbean 3-day cruise for 2 in an inside cabin. (Miami to Nassau route) Any upgrades in room or adding people has to be done with points not money.

Sounds pretty good I just have to decide if it's worth it to cash it in or spend it on other perks they offer.

If anyone sees this who has done it let me know how it went for you please.

I have not used points from Drury Inn, actually had never heard of that chain until your post, but have used points from other hotel and airline programs. We try to use our points in the a way to get the best dollar value for them. Price out the cruise and see how much it would actually cost you and then price out using the points for free hotel stays instead or how ever else you can use your points. The cruise might not be the best value but if you aren't going to be traveling enough to use the free hotel nights, then the cruise might be the best value for you.:)

  10. I just completed a RC cruise on the Vision of the Sea ending dec 3rd...had absolutely no problems with my 2 bottles of wine plus had a bottle of wine awaiting us in our room for a total of 3.

Only I purchased a soda package..it was not forced upon my husband or even suggested..

I am reading your stories and find it truly awful that some of you had such problems!!!!

All I can say is that our 10 day cruise on the Vision of the Sea went as smooth as could be.

Just because you got a soda package doesn't mean your husband needs to get one too. If you had purchased an alcohol package, then your husband would have had to purchase one.

  11. This is great news if true. Forget about the wine, take the bubbly! And if you want to swap out the contents, the plastic "corks" on a bottle Korbel could easily be replaced and re-wrapped and no corkscrew required. We cruised carnival in the spring and they didn't take a second look at my two bottles of korbel (it was korbel though). Room steward kept it on ice for us until it was gone. LOVED having a little bubbly before dinner!!

It will be interesting if it is 2 bottles per cabin rather than one bottle per adult. I have 3 cabins with 2 adults and 3 kids on our next cruise. 6 bottles sounds wonderful to me!!!

The people bringing wine will have to be of legal drinking age so unless the "kids" are 21, don't bother.

Edit to add: 18 for European sailings

  12. Fellow cruiser just posted on rollcall that Royal has changed its policy and you can now carry two bottles of wine onboard ship for consumption. Subject to a corkage fee of $25 each.

Called RCCL and agent confirmed, policy change went into effect today.

The guest conduct policy does not show this as being true but it is dated March 2012 so maybe the website is not updated.

  13. oh fun, was so depressed I couldn't take this cruise, glad I was able to give her my cabin, lol

Lol, definitely a nice location. Don't think they have had much chance to relax yet though since it was such a busy first week. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming storms effect them getting to St John's. Leslie and Michael could cause them some trouble.

  14. Looks like Ms Martinez told a fib or CC got this part wrong :) This is part of the Cruise Critic article that was posted at 12:50 pm

I saw that too.;) My Mom's email came about 10 minutes after that article was posted. She really didn't say much other than they were delayed. From the position of the ship, I really don't see how it could have sailed when Ms Martinez said it did.

I have been tracking the ship since it left Harwich and was very surprised this AM not to see it on AIS. I am just glad there weren't a lot of injuries and hopefully, the crew member recovers soon.

I will post if she emails again.
