I can see that making sense from the maitre'd perspective too. He can set aside enough nearby tables for 14 ahead of time for those 1 or 2 special situations perhaps simply from removing them from the available manifest for that evening. Obviously that shouldn't be done frequently but as a 1 shot deal that improves the efficiency. I can't imagine the 'computer' trying to accomplish that as adjacent tables would need to sit empty far too long.

And I trust you agree with me that if a very large group like that wanted to dine together most nights that Fixed Time is really the only reasonable option.

We did fixed time for our party of nine.  We could all do our own thing during the day, then catch up at dinner.

They should have a designated area for FTTF to sit. It's normally located right by the Suites/Plat/Diamond. It was sort of hidden, we had to ask where it was in Galveston. We were on the Breeze in March and they let us go in right away. We didn't have to wait for the designated time.

I asked, but they insisted on myself and others with FTTF go to general seating. Looked like suites, diamonds and plats were in priority seating.  Was just happy they called us before general boarding.

When was your sailing?  The requirement to show up in your arrival time slot is relatively new - a couple of months ago you showed up whenever you liked and went straight into the priority line.

My cruise was in April.  No special seating area for FTTF, but were called to board after the other priority passengers.

Thanks! We may give it a try. The average age group is even higher than that of Carnivals though, which for us isn't ideal. We love the mix of people we meet on Carnival cruises and our past experiences have been amazing. These changes just aren't it for us.

Strange how Virgin was marketing towards younger adults, but recently saw a video of older people returning from port.

Refresh my memory....do you need your S&S card at the muster drill?

Boarding pass works, especially since you don't get your card until you have cabin access.  Priority boarders will have their cards earlier.
