Richard....I met someone here at the RV resort that lives in the Villages. Seems there afre about 500 gay and lesbian residence there.He will be back here on Friday for game night...they haver bingo, pocker and board games...guys come from the Villages and Ocala to socialize. I will get more info.

RMS - I see you mentioned The Villages in your post, are there many gay residents there? I've thought about looking into it for retirement, but didn't know much about it.

Anybody going on any holiday cruises?

RMS - while you're at the Schubert, check it out for our CC gathering! A weekend at a guesthouse, group dinner out somewhere, drinking at Alibi, sounds like the perfect cruise-alternate weekend.

How about we all just take over a guesthouse in Fort Lauderdale one weekend??

We usually also take a group of friends on the 2 nite century sailing that takes place every January out of Miami.

How is that 2 night sailing on the Century? Normally I wouldn't consider such a short trip since you leave Thursday night and come home Saturday morning. Is it worth it? If a bunch of family members are on board, it may be fun for us locals. Can you provide more details?

I am all about the midnite snacks, especiallly considering the time change for us West Coast travelers...

NO! I have not found decent pizza yet on any ship.

Pools on Liberty are fresh water, so I would think the pools on Freedom would be the same.

Sorry, we will be on Explorer of the Seas. My stupid countdown thingy only worked like 10% of the time so I have a new one now. :) Alaska looks beautiful, but I was born and raised here in Atlanta and I do NOT do well with cold weather! ;)

Bert - You really should do Alaska. My partner and I are from South Florida and we absolutely loved Alaska. We went the last week of July a couple years ago and the weather was perfect. I can't wait to go again.

Anybody have any info on the steam/sauna on the Freedom of the Seas?

We were on the Celebrity Infinity in Alaska in 2004 with Ernest Borgnine, which I found disconcerting since he was in The Poseidon Adventure!

Chip1969 - Congrats! You are going to love the Alaska cruise. We celebrated our 20th on an Alaskan cruise and had a wonderful time. We were on the Celebrity Infinity and the dining room staff had a cake and sang to us. We are now getting ready to celebrate our 23rd on an Eastern Caribbean cruise the last week of May.
