We used Shoppers Drug Mart the day before our Alaska cruise. The closest one is on W. Pender. It took us 22 minutes to walk from the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel but only  because my wife has to walk slowly. I could walk it in half that time. Appointments need to be booked by phone. We arrived early and were dealt with immediately.

    Thank you!

so can I setup my ArriveCan on my computer to get a printout and also setup on iphone for showing at the port if need be?

I do not put my email on iphone nor do I print from iphone

Yes, I have the app on my iPad and iPhone.  You will use the same password on both to see the same information.  You can also complete Advance Customs Declaration on ArriveCAN and get a receipt for that on your phone.

No I agree I was not clear.   Looking at those clinics The ones in Botswana are no where reasonable close to where we are.  So in any event for us it would be a non network with Geo Blu.

I understand primary insurance as well as the process. but on a weekend in Victoria Falls or any other medical which is not near a preferred provider or any real clinic or hospital for that matter and when they are demanding cash for what tx currently has been provided along with refusal of any more tx until they get payment

…one cannot get any cash out of machine

…cannot get $$ wired from credit card company

…does not have cell service in that country and needs a code sent via message

    …refuses any credit card payment

The Big Question ?? will travel insurance wire the clinic or ambulance provider $$ to satisfy their demand for tx that has been delivered.  Huge problem when clinic keeps you hostage until they get their $$ and are refusing any more care in an emergency.

Africa is not a place you want to carry a lot of cash.

I don’t want to mislead you re: hospitals in Botswana.  If you have a GeoBlue policy, you can go on their website and choose any country to find medical providers, but you must also have a city, and I only knew the capital, so it’s quite possible there are more GeoBlue related doctors or facilities available. If you know a particular city, I can look it up.

  5. I was wondering if MedJet would have been able to rescue OP’s wife from the first “hospital.”  MedJet’s Emergency Medical Cash Advance is $60k.

NetCare Millpark ( the good hospital) in Johannesburg is on GeoBlue’s list of providers.

Also, it seems like the family all used Capital One which wasn’t much help.  Would Chase or AmEx have been any better?

Lots to consider about visiting any third world country, for sure.

  6. Yeah, the floatplane was pricey even 10 years ago, but DH loved fly fishing, and used them on two or three trips. They flew out to the middle of nowhere (LOL), the guide carrying a rifle in case of bears - the whole “Alaska” experience for serious fishermen or women. Picture below.

I actually went with him with ChumFun.  Nice folks and friendly dog.  They fish on shore or off the dock right next to the small hatchery, so you’re still in civilization.  You would pass the hatchery on the way out to Mendenhall.

Lots of locals there, too. You can watch the sea lions swimming back and forth waiting to grab your catch.  As I recall, admission to the hatchery was either included or at a discounted price.  I went in, but DH stayed on shore.

  7. The one snag I hit, no fault of TAP, was at the gate in Lisbon.  I went through regular security, but I was pulled aside at the gate for special security screening.  They went through my carry-on piece by piece at a table set up nearby and did the security wand thing again. I boarded the flight on time, but it was a little unnerving.  Just a heads-up.  If you have “SSSS” on your boarding pass, you will be pulled aside.

  8. I think that if you have multiple non-stop options from your (hopefully major) airport, you should be fine.
I only run into problems when the airlines reschedule my flights with 30 and 40 minute connections in Chicago, Charlotte, or Atlanta.

  9. Your tour will begin as a group for their demonstration inside the building, ending at the small gift shop. After that, you are free to wander the grounds.  There are some benches outside the building.  You can walk as slowly as you like on the path to see the exhibits and take pictures. I’ve seen lots of canes and walking sticks.  No need to hurry.

We were b2b Vancouver to Seward and Seward to Vancouver in May.  Fantastic cruise only 50% on board for both cruises. We left from Seward late…..because the last train arriving from Anchorage does not get in to Seaward until 5.30. We saw folks boarding from mid day when we were getting off to explore Seward. The crew onboard were amazingly helpful and friendly. The scenery, wildlife and gold rush history combined to make this cruise a most memorable one.

We’re also doing a back to back.  Did you have Covid testing on board between cruises?  Did you have to get off the ship in Seward and check in again?  Thanks.

Thank you for posting this.  At first, I thought this was only for the solo cabins on Edge class ships.  But I was able to save some money for an E4 I had already booked as a solo.

We’re you able to find the lower price on line?  I was on hold for over an hour with Celebrity, and then the rep could not find any additional savings for me on two solo cruises I have booked that are listed on the spreadsheet.  Is there a special promotion code needed?
