  1. From the web site:

Cancellation Penalty Waiver Program– non-insurance features provided by Celebrity Cruises

Allows you to cancel and waives the normally non-refundable cancellation charges if you need to cancel for specified reasons. In addition, CruiseCare® Cancel For Any Reason Cruise Vacation Enhancement make sure that in the event you choose to cancel for a reason not eligible under the plan, at any time up until departure, Celebrity will provide you with a cruise credit equal to 90% of the non-refundable value of your cruise vacation prepaid to Celebrity, for your use towards a future cruise (excluding Flights by Celebrity).

  2. Ultimately, we again booked our next Celebrity cruise by ourselves online (within one week!) and our deposit -- and, more importantly, the onboard credit -- were applied to our reservation.”

So, did you have to put down the usual $450 deposit when you booked and then had your $100 future cruise deposit applied as on board credit, or were you able to book on line with just the $100 future cruise deposit?

The major takeaway is to not insure anything on a trip that has a fixed dollar amount.  Don't insure the flight; don't insure the cruise fare, don't insure the luggage.  The maximum you are out of pocket is the cost of those items, but given that it's unlikely you can collect (air / cruise / hotel) or they'll only pay a pittance (lost luggage), it seems unwise to buy coverage for those items.

After learning more, I'm increasingly thinking I'll never be able to collect on a medical claim either.  As I travel alone, I would have no way to get pre-authorization for procedures if I'm incapacitated as I'd be unable to make the calls.

Medical emergencies and evac are also my main concerns, as I travel alone. I wonder what other solo cruisers do?

You cannot just cash out OBC on a slot machine.  You can use OBC to bet; but only cash out your winnings. The OBC itself stays in the machine until you lose it.

I was told the same on the Millennium a couple weeks ago.

Proof of COVID vaccination or negative test no longer needed
    Oct 20, 2022, 4:01 PM

The Ecuadorian National Committee for Emergency Operations has just released a statement indicating that as of today, visitors to Ecuador in Galapagos will not be asked to show proof of COVID vaccination nor of a negative COVID test. They reserve the right to reimpose such measures if conditions warrant.

  6. Just got off the Nieuw Statendam in Boston.  There was no in room dining available this morning, at least for “regular” guests.  Maybe the people in suites were able to order room service, but that option wasn’t on the instructions we received yesterday. We could stay in our cabins until our groups were called.

Disembarkation times were right on schedule.
Very sorry I took the ship’s shuttle.  No assistance from HAL at all once we left the terminal.  I felt so bad for the many people with canes and walkers struggling to get down the long sidewalk to where the big buses were parked.
Last scheduled disembarkation time was 9:30.
    Great cruise, however.
