  1. I watch the cruise on a TA site that shows cabins available. We cruised Oasis in Sep and I watched all year. You can tell which cabins are available by the "flashing" on them. I watched the CL's and they weren't selling. About 3 weeks before the cruise they dropped dramatically in price and I went from a JS to a Crown Loft for $150 per person! So to answer your question, find a TA site that you can book on line and you can generally tell by how many cabins in each category are available as to how well the cruise is selling out. Also the price is a definite indicator. If a cruise isn't selling, the price will drop dramatically. If you huge price increases, then the odds are it's going to be full.

    Which ta have the flashing?

  2. Yes, they still have them. There is more than one package. One package includes the Chef's Table and the other one doesn't include that restaurant. There might be another choice also.

In October we did the package with the Chef's Table and it also included 150 Central Park, Giovanni's Table and Chops! It was great, I highly recommend it!

I don't see the option on the web site.

  3. I just did a cruise on the Carnival Sunshine that was really bad to say the least. I didn't listen to reviews. NOW I am wiser and before I book the next cruise I want to hear the good the bad and the ugly about these ships.

Some people say Freedom is better others say Oasis or Allure. I am looking at an August trip back to the caribbean.

I am seriously confused but I do know I want to hear everyones opinion to make an educated decision! I will be taking 2 boys 12 and 14 with me so activities are important!

I am reading oasis and allure have huge waits and lines and some say no so much. I have read that Freedom service is not that great others say it is better!

What were your experiences, what area of the ship were you on? 1 to 10 how do you recommend it?

    Thanks to all who respond.

I have been on Liberty, Allure, and Freedom in that order. My next cruise is in July on Oasis. They where all great cruises. The Oasis class is bigger and better in every way possible. Everything the Freedom class has to offer is also on the Oasis class, just bigger and better. The Oasis class has Broadway shows which for me is a big thing. If you went to New York, you would pay between 100.00 and 200.00 for these shows. That being said it comes down to dollars and cents for me. If the Freedom class has a sale on the week that I am going, I will go. Keep in mind if you do your homework and hit it right you can go on Oasis for the same price or very close to it. There is way more for kids to do on the Oasis class. If you go on Freedom everyone will have a great time also, because you really won't know what your missing out from the Oasis. The bottom line is to get on either class for the right price.

  4. We're willing to pay about $200, and perhaps a bit more, on top of what we paid already to move to a balcony.

I also wonder if I call RC should I use the general reservation number or have better luck with the C & A number since I am a member, albeit only gold though.

Is that 200 total or per person and how far off is it now? I would just sit back and monitor the price and cross your fingers. The price $1481.00 now.

  5. My GF and I set sail in 1 week on the FOS. We're booked in an ocean view cabin, but with the cruise only a week away we're wondering about our chances of being able to change to a balcony at a reduced price. I'm seeing both classes of balconies still available for our cruise leaving on 2/16, but for more money than either of us wants to pay.

What are our chances of the price going down between now and next Sunday, or should I call RC now and see what they can do, or even take a chance and wait until we get to the dock to try and upgrade? We're willing to pay more to upgrade to a balcony just not what they're currently asking for on the website.

    Thanks for any advice!

How much more are you willing to pay and what did you pay so far?

  6. Disclaimer: Do not blame me if I am wrong.

You are very likely to be able to make that departure time with no problem.

If you are flying Southwest, get the heck off the ship as early as possible, because on Saturdays and Sundays, there can be 7 or 8 cruise ships coming in and flooding the airport with departing passengers.

I have had very bad experiences getting through security in the SW terminal at FLL.

    It is Southwest.

  7. We have looked into reward cards before...various "major" entertainment destinations as well as cruising.

But we have kept loyal to our credit card that gives back cash rewards (probably not the "BIG" one you are thinking of).

We have been with it forever, and on one of our cruises we cashed out over $2,400.00. We use it for everything and pay off the monthly statement when it comes in.

I think we only had to pay it in two installments one time years ago, and the $29.00 fee bothered me so much that we vowed if we cant afford it we wont buy it.

We accumulate extra points during promotions certain like stores gas.

    We watch it grow.

For us it works well, and when we hear about the turmoil of combing this with that, and you cannot do double discounts, we just take the money.

We used to vary our vacations and go to land venues, but, now that we seem to become more and more addicted to cruising.....if the benefit is better we will look into a specific card.......but until that happens, we are staying with our card.

    Sea Ya

What % of your purchase do you get back? If its not 2% you should try Capital One and use all your points for travel. With Capital One you get 2% for travel use. If you spend 100,000 you have 2000.00 to spend on your next cruise or any type of travel.
