Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We are San Diego to Vancouver in late June —- the ship leaves ar 6 PM ———we are going to make a reservation for dinner that evening at a specialty restaurant —— Anyone know when the ship will hold its safety drill?
  2. It could easily be the best cruise ship location on the planet. Open mouthed fantastic.
  3. Is there any way to find out how filled the ship will be, the captain or the ship (Serenity), or what time we can board the ship (we will be arriving by train which is about a five minute walk from the cruise terminal.) ——— of course, there was a landslide in San Clemente and the train service may not be restored by late June%@#$@
  4. Multimillion dollar decision. Cannot imagine there is ANY chance they will sail into harm’s way with passengers on board. Only issue is if they will go around Africa or sail through the Red Sea with a crew of mercenaries. We can only hope that whichever decision they make is the right one. Tough business.
  5. Keith - Just a note that we appreciate your reporting. We are on Serenity in late June for a quick eight day run from San Diego to Vancouver. Your reporting is always interesting and useful. Just adds to upcoming excitement. I think this is Crystal #6 or 7 and your comments make us feel like we have made a great decision to take another Crystal voyage —- only been on one other cruise ship; another 5 or 6 star cruise line that taught us how special Crystal is in all aspects of their business. Couple of questions if you don’t mind: Is Captain Egil still with Crystal? We had a couple of dinners with him over the years and laughed from sitting down to dinner to stumbling back to our cabin. —— Do you know the latest they would seat us for dinner on night one (embarks at 6:00 PM.) Enjoy your cruise.
  6. So much of life is attitude —- we took a 10 day river cruise half a decade ago when the Rhine was overflowing. After day one, we bussed along the Rhine changing boats a few times. The cruise operator (not Crystal) never leveled with us that we were never going to cruise another full inch. ——- I think I was elected mayor of some small German outpost where they parked boat #1 for three days —— the passengers without so much as a three minute meeting rallied and everyone just rolled with the punches —- made more lifetime friends than any other cruise —. High levels of repeated gallows humor
  7. Interesting. We are June 24 from San Diego to Vancouver. We could not care less about trading Portland for Port Angeles, but interesting that neither Crystal nor our TA have said word one. Of course, now we can tell family members in Portland that we are cruising up the coast —-
  8. Former Crystal published the captain, speakers, PGA etc. months ahead of each voyage. Will this happen in the future when things calm down a bit?
  9. Question: I saw where we can make dinner reservations 60 days before departing ----- can we make more than the one specialty restaurant a piece at that time?
  10. Keith: Thank you for your many posts ---- my curiosity about this "inaugural cruise" is being satisfied by your posts. I always worry that on "going back" to something that was beyond wonderful, it is very, very rarely results in expectations. You have quashed those fears. I need to confess that we loved the mushroom soup and specifically the beef carpaccio, but believed the reaminder of the menu was unspectacular. We lok forward to the new menu. Keep the posts coming!
