  1. Although, how would they know you were smoking in your cabin? Probably smell it? That being the case if you were already caught what is saying that it was a new cigarette smell, that you were breaking the rule again.

Unless for some reason an adjoining cabin complained.

As for the review that you read this in. I didn't read it but that very well may not have happened at all, who knows.

Air vents on ships are connected so people in the surrounding cabins will smell it! So yes everyone around you will know that you are smoking in there and having to breath it in because it does travel.

  2. I have Celiac Disease and must follow a gluten free diet. In the past, Carnival has always had lots of options for me at meal times. I am wondering how they handle special dietary needs on this new menu. Anyone have any experience with that?

My mother in law is gluten allergic. See attached video highlights of the "nightly special orders she placed" with the asst matre d. She got gf special menu each eve to order for next day meal

  3. It was champagne/sparkling wine with a little fruit juice cocktail type of thing to toast. We thought maybe they would have done a toast lead by the maitre d on captains night, but I guess it was just for the table to toast. It wasn't really explained, just given :)

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

On both nights our maître d did lead a toast for the entire dinning room

Please tell us what the mystery meat is!!! I want to avoid it!!! Maggie

It was a side item to either the chicken or steak that night...we never did find out what it was, but it was not the main entrée

As for the singing and dancing of the waiters...they did do it a few nights but not every night.

  4. Hi thanks for the nice comments.

to start the vomit at the end is my husbands sick since of humor...it was the last night and the seas were picking up a little.

CCL put in all new tables they are a very pretty wood. On elegant nights they do put the table cloths on. Yes there are still cloth napkins every night. The wine bottle on the table is actually the table number. On elegant nights they do give all either a champagne toast or a sprite toast with a little fruit juice mixed in (mango/strawberry 1 night). To get drink service now you ask your waiter so they don't bug you all night and if you have a soda card they had the drinks waiting on the table when you sit down.

As for the bread on casual nights they bring a box of bread enough for everyone to have 2-3 pieces and yes you can get more. I also loved that on casual nights they leave carafes of water of the table but if they saw your glass was empty they would pour for you.

Family style is no different then going to the buffet there are serving utensils. But yes they can bring individual servings or multiple. The pies come for 2, 4, 6 or 8. Yes you do get a whole pie....Some were very good some were ok. We got apple, cherry, rhubarb & blueberry. My son actually loved the rhubarb pie :D We got the table Caesar salad and calamari every night, the calamari was hit or miss.

Some of the new foods we loved....coconut shrimp, white chocolate bread pudding & steak tacos. My son ordered at least 2 shrimp cocktails every night and if you didn't like what was on the menu you could always order the chicken or flat iron. In addition to the pies every night there were still dessert choices and yes one night they did have a flan.

We liked the new menu, especially since we were getting tired of the same old same old every cruise. It was a nice change.

  5. We leave on the Glory Sunday and I really enjoyed your cute review. This will be our 3rd visit to the Glory and the first since the menu changes. Thanks for the post.

Enjoy your cruise. The food in mdr still has some issues to be resolved. The new menu choices are a welcome addition to those of us who have cruised a lot with carnival. However the waiters are having to work extra hard to keep up with things and there definitely are some issues like too much time between courses and family style appetizers coming out soggy And cold, etc.

  6. Just off the Carnival Glory 12-22 sailing. I posted this earlier but did a terrible job stating that once you see through my DH's warped sense of reality there is actually a really comprehensive video review for anyone interested in laughing a bit and learning a bit about...

Paradise Beach - Cozumel (plus bonus "interviews with the locals")

Fabulous Mayan Ruins - Costa Maya

Extreme Zip Line adventure - Mohogany Bay Roatan

Sting Ray City from the water! - Grand Cayman

and for all you dock runner people watchers out there, this is some of the best dock running (aka- almost going to miss the ship) I have ever seen as well!!

    Here's the link.

  7. This years installment of my DH's slightly twisted view of vacation video making (and life for that matter)

...This time it's on the Carnival Glory 12-22-13 sailing.

Ever since our youngest son had a school project "Flat Stanley" my DH has felt the need to focus more on his video props then the family. Not this year! I told him he must put all that aside and document only the family for once.

I guess I got what I asked for. Enjoy....:)

  8. Hi we are just off the Glory today, it was the Christmas cruise, so definitely a different clientele..... many families and we never saw any of those wild party groups.

They are starting to figure out the new menu in the dinning room. There were some great new additions to the menu as well as the old favorites. Our waiters were great but still trying to figure out the new way, especially since we had someone with a special order every night. It took a bit longer to get the food, after talking to the head we suggested they get runners for the special orders and what ever they changed did help.

We had seen all the shows before latin nights and divas on breeze last year...the glory singers and dancers were great much better than on the breeze and the shows were switched up a bit so it wasn't identical which was nice. instead of a steal band they have a guitar player at the pool some nights which was nice. Comedy was good as usual. instead of the passengers performing they had 2 singers and a live band doing a show of popular movie tunes, it was good.

My family had a great time.:)

  9. I hate when people say "if you don't want to dress up go eat at the buffet". My family does not like to eat dinner at the buffet. We HATE to dress up. I wear nice shorts in the MDR on casual nights. On dress up night I wear nice new dark jeans and a polo. That is how I am comfortable. We like eating in the MDR. We don't want buffet food for dinner.

We are very well off. We can afford any cruise line. We stick with NCL and Carnival because of the dress code. Every time I stray and look at Cunard or Princess my wife reminds me about the dress code. I say oh yeah.

We eat dinner at many 5 star restaurants. Many of them do not have table cloths. Our favorite is Morton's Steakhouse. We eat their weekly. Normally I wear jeans but sometimes nice shorts. Some people dress up. Whatever they want it doesnt affect my experience whatsoever. I am a very good tipper and the staff are always happy to see me. They not care what I wear.

I guess I'm just a low class kind of guy. :)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I could not of said it better myself;)

  10. We have done either Christmas or New Years or both for the past 6 years. In my experience what they have done is just swap the holiday to be formal night with what they normally would of done. So you still only have 2 formal nights. It sounds like they are doing that again with the menu for Christmas.
