  1. We’re on the Allure, which is scheduled to dock in Canaveral at ~6am on Monday. The Astrobotic moon mission launches from ULA at 2:18am. Any chance we can see it from the boat? CANT POST GIZMODO ARTICLE SINCE IT INCLUDES THE BIT WORD
  2. Has ANYONE received a comprehensive response from Princess on this? I emailed askoceanmedallion and after no reply, cancelled my upcoming cruise. Phone support was of no help.
  3. Mine (GE) just took me a day - had the card in 4 days, including a holiday. Wife took 3 days. My previous one took 3 months.
  4. Note that we did not get a single email on ANY passport renewal application - ever. Also - I was super nervous on one of the passports, since the online system had a different mailing address from the application. I corrected the online system, but I believe it had no impact/bearing... unless it was renewed online (which is currently down after a short test/trial period).
  5. passport office ≠ state dept; but there is one in Atlanta. however it's appointment-only, and awful. The foreign consulates (Brazil, Nigeria, Guatemala, etc. - 70 total) are much better.
  6. Sorry if I'm late to the game here, but I'm seeing passport renewals (expedited) take between three weeks and 10 weeks (mostly 3-6 weeks now). My son's passport (<16 years old) took 22 days. My parents got theirs in 7 weeks; it was processed in Northern VA (DC); record locator started with 19. Passport card came a week later. Some processing centers are better than others. But you can't choose.
  7. Funny how it's 9 years after this topic was started... I subscribed to Paramount+ and have been binge watching The Love Boat for the past 2.5 months (it's often painful to watch). First season really felt amateur, and film quality was terrible (everyone's eyes looked bloodshot). But once you get into it, the destinations are really cool (we just did an Alaskan Cruise in 2023 - crazy to compare Mendenhall Glacier in 1978 vs. 2023), some of the special guests were neat (Pointer Sisters, Joe Namath, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, just about every actor from 1970s and 1980s shows), and it's quirky. Still find the short doors - and tall ceilings - funny. And, boy, how have safety regulations changed.
  8. Find it unusual that a suite booking still requires plus or premier. This is why we cancelled one of our Princess cruises, and are sailing with SilverSea (all-inclusive, none of this nonsense). Yeah it's different, but after binge-watching Love Boat (where the hell are those sized rooms?!?!), the boat size, passengers, and crew are nearly identical to the Pacific/Island Princess. Yet our SS boat was built in 2023...
  9. Is this a training thing? That is - did they lose their good or best people during Covid, and haven't been able to re-hire or re-train? Or is it a cost-cutting thing? Long ago I read that a company's most valuable assets are its customers. If that's so, why do they outsource the servicing of them?
  10. The plumbing doesn’t or shouldn’t affect the house built on top of it. But the “you are logged in” nonsense on princess belies a bigger issue. Not sure the spaghetti that is their code, but the had the last 3 years to clean it up, and clearly did not.
  11. It's a bigger deal than just a simple fix. They have to rip out the login technology - which comes with a ton of dependencies...
  12. Sorry, not to be defensive, but the actual code of the app is, in fact, old. Just "updating some things" every month doesn't overcome the core app platform - it looks to be a pre-Swift/Xcode 12 (I think) app. How can I tell? The the screen size is 'off' on buttonless iPhone X+ models (X/Xs/11/12/13/14), default font size is too big (yes, I know, you can make anything larger - systemwide), and the login/sign-in logic is different from the web (especially the way it handles username/password - it's not OAUTH/SAML/OIDC - which is a problem). I'm in cybersecurity and global risk management. If we want to take this offline, happy to discuss further.
  13. My concern is that this has been going on for a long time.
  14. Someone needs to flag this higher up the chain. It is more than a simple login issue - they have old information, refuse to remove it, and block logins with OLD passwords because the app and website are completely out of sync. (the app is also years and years old, which introduces additional security concerns) I've been going back and forth for a month with Carnival, then their a-hole chief security officer blocked/ignored me. Let's see how this plays out. and today....
  15. not sure "cruise air" vs. "direct air" really makes a difference here. Heck, even flying GA/private might not, either, with airfield closures.. But we always go 1-2 days early. It absolutely saved us flying from East Coast to Seattle in June.
