Please don’t. This thread is helping my insomnia.
I am LOVING this thread!! We just booked our first Celebrity cruise after years of cruising NCL and Carnival before that, and I can't wait to see the buffet!

We have had a room below the buffet once before. It was very noisy! They started with the rolling carts super early and didn't finish until late at night.

Thanks, everyone, for the quick replies! So helpful!

I'm looking at making reservations at the Fine Cut Steakhouse on Beyond. I'm reading the fine print:
- Cancelled packages are subject to full cover charges and there are no refunds for unused amounts.
Does this mean you can't cancel a reservation at all?
Thanks!

I asked for the current offer of $200 OBC and premium drinks, to be applied to my existing booking. What he gave me was an increased price of $90 (for both of us, not each) with $300 OBC and premium drinks. I thought that was a good deal.

Long time cruiser here, but new to Celebrity. I'm seeing lots of posts talking about Le Petit Chef. What is it, exactly? What kind of show is it? Are there chefs cooking in front of you with comedy? I've seen pictures of tables from this event, and it looks like maybe it's some kind of cartoon table screen or something?
Do you get to choose your meals, or is it a fixed menu? Can you see the menu ahead of time? How much does it cost?
Thanks and happy cruising!

new promo offers premium drinks, was able to get it for $98 more and $100 more in OBC for a 9 day cruise. Actually got someone on the phone pretty fast too.
Having missed the sale that ended last week, we booked a cruise on the Beyond last Monday anyway. When I saw the sale advertised this week, I planned to make a call to see if I could get a better deal, but was procrastinating because sometimes the sales reps are not very helpful.
Your post inspired me to go ahead and make the call. I'm glad I did, because I ended up getting the same kind of deal you did. However, I dealt with a very rude sales rep named Giovanni. He obviously hates his job! I'm glad I made the call, but next time I'll probably procrastinate even more than this time. 😉

Sorry but I'm one of those "7 A.M." people. I like my pool time and I like being near the pool. It doesn't strike my as hoggish to wake up early and get a lounge that suits my needs and claim it as mine for the day. Yes, I disappear for trivia or a poker tournament for an hour and I don't see any reason to abandon my lounge because I'm gone for a short while. I don't begrudge anyone who eats in Luminae or uses the Retreat because they're suite members so I don't see why anyone should think I should give up my prime real estate by the pool because I had the temerity to have lunch or play a game of trivia. Lounge hogs? I don't think so.
I only ask for an hour of chair time. Just an hour. But I can never find an empty chair. If you were to leave your chair available for the hour that you are playing trivia, I could use the chair and be back out of it before you even get back. As others have said, if no one saved their chair, then you too would have plenty of chairs available for when you get back from trivia.

It's a total of $12 to upgrade to the Premium package. $10 for the upgrade and a 20% gratuity.
Thanks for the reply. Is that $12 per day?

What is the price difference to get the Premium after I've already booked? I'm having a hard time finding this information on the website. What is the price difference to get the Premium after I've already booked? I'm having a hard time finding this information on the website.

Well, it’s NCL, so…
I was speaking in response to a question about this, specifically mentioning NCL.

I am positive that was because your sailing was in Europe. Sailings out of the US were self-serve. Not sure if they went to staff-serve during the height of Omicron, though.
We were on the Norwegian Getaway out of New Orleans for New Years (height of Omicron). Buffets were all self-serve.

Thanks, all. I've read @JamieLogical's reviews and she's part of the reason we want to try Celebrity!

Longtime cruisers here...platinum on Carnival and NCL. We are looking at trying out Celebrity for the first time. I can't seem to find any reviews on Cruise Critic for the Celebrity Beyond. Anyone know of any?
Thanks!

I think you’re correct. Testing at the hotel before going to the pier doesn’t really solve the problem. It just creates a lot of different ones.It also adds to the current problem of a shortage of home testing kits. The home kits should be saved for when they are actually needed.

Maybe you can check the DMV website to see if you can just order a replacement driver's license. I was able to do that here in Washington State.
Regarding being cold on the ship, I am nearly always cold in the indoor areas of the ship, especially the Observation Lounge. This is so disappointing for me, since I live in Seattle and I go to warm places for vacation so I can be warm. Everyone loves the observation Lounge, but I just couldn't enjoy it.

Thanks for the review! What is in an Eastern Legacy?

Going without a mask in an indoor space with a bunch of other people, during a global pandemic, when there's a new variant of the virus that spreads much more easily... regardless of your vaccination status, you might want to think that one through a little more.
I've thought it through plenty. Thanks for your concern.

@dggoddess61 we will be on the ship with you! I really hope we aren't expected to wear masks!

If both rooms are in the same letter code category for sales purposes (OA,OB, O4, OF etc) then no compensation is due as you got the same "grade" of room as what you paid for, location notwithstanding. Now if the original room was say an OA and the new room is an OB or OF then yes, some form of compensation would be due.
Here's a link to NCL's current deck plans & category coding for the Gem : https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/gem/deck-plans
The point that the OP is making is that he paid to be able to choose his room. He intentionally did not choose a guarantee because he wanted to choose it himself. Assigning him to a different room is essentially turning his cruise into a guarantee. His point is that if they have to move him to a spot that suits the cruise line rather than to a room of his choice, then they should pay him the difference between a chosen cabin and a guarantee cabin.
I don't understand why so many people on here are telling the OP that he should just be satisfied that he has a cabin at all, and that he should just enjoy his cruise without at least requesting a fair deal. Everyone on this forum is here because we like to anticipate and plan for our cruise. Naturally it's disappointing to find yourself in a setup that is not as good as what you planned and paid for.
Many people (including me) look forward to peaceful sleep on their cruise, and a room below the casino or above the showroom may make that more difficult.

Did they ask you before unpacking for you? I would be very unhappy if I came back to find my stuff unpacked without my permission.

Thanks for the review! It makes me look forward to my cruise in 3 weeks, and I'm also enjoying your sense of humor.
Are the scrambled eggs in the Local fresh? That photo makes them look like they are the liquid ones they use on the buffet.
Regarding the sunglasses, since you asked, I'd give them a definite "no." I noticed them on your towel animal and thought, "Not that type of sunglasses?!" Whenever I've seen them before, it's always been on women, so maybe that's why I think they look more feminine, but I think even on women they are too big and strange.

It seems like they are trying to be like Johnny Rockets on RCCL. I've never been to Johnny Rockets, but don't the waitresses sing and dance, or something?
When we first started cruising way back in 2002 on the Carnival Elation, they used to have freshly grilled burgers on the pool deck. The smell of them was irresistible! They were delicious! Simple, but fresh and delicious.
Which side of the room is the bed on?

I'm booking the Celebrity Millenium. I can't tell from the website which side of the room the bed is on. We like to have the bed closest to the veranda. Is there a way to know before I book?
Thanks in advance!
