You're AMAZING!!!!! Thank You!
I just got off the Ruby and there were special items for Alaska. I convinced a very nice head waiter to get me menus and will try to get them scanned and uploaded in the next couple days. -
What are the Salty Dog Hours? Is open daily, or on select days?
-
That sounds like fun :)

Usually you can board once customs has cleared the ship after all those who have come off. I know with Caribbean season in Fort Lauderdale, you can board their ships 11-11:30. As for lunch, I always make sure to come onboard hungry, as I know I can get a good balanced meal. Lunch is served on the Lido deck! Also they will have the pizzeria and grill open on the pool deck as well, which is a nice option too. If you are looking for something light, go to deck 5 and head to the International Cafe, one of my favorites onboard.

I've always been a big fish eater, especially onboard. I've found all the fish dishes on Princess in both the MDR an Specialty restaurants to be terrific, and extra delicious.
Oh I found them and notice quite quite a few fish options. We are new to Princess and our old favorite (X) the fish was never good. How is it on Princess? -
Agreed!
I think every cruise should have puppies :D -
Thanks a Bunch!

Fantastic! Thank you!
If you do a search on this board for "Alaska menu" you will see a thread called "Looking for 2016 Ruby Princess Alaska Cruise dining room menu copies". Someone responded with menu photos. It looks like there are some specialty items for Alaska. -
I think I read somewhere, on the Alaskan cruises at one of the ports they bring onboard iditarod puppies. Is this true? If so, which port do they do this.
I'm a puppy lover, and was hoping others have experienced this, as this would be an awesome addition to the Alaskan cruise experience.

Yay!
more to come! Hopefully, this afternoon. Thanks for reading. :d -
That's what I figured. As I believe the European MDR menus were also the same as the Caribbean. Thanks a bunch for your speedy response :)
I didn't notice any difference on MDR menus, if there was, for Caribbean and Alaska.Sent from my iPad using Forums

The only other non Caribbean cruises I have ever done are the Europeans. Just curious, for the Alaskan sailings, are the menus same as their Caribbean sailings, or do they change it up? I don;t mind either or way, as I am fan or whatever is served.
If anyone has pics of the menus or has an upcoming sailing onboard and would like to kindly take pics of the menus for me, I'd be very appreciative.

You do the crime. You do the time. Being a teacher, I sit there teacher children all day about thinking, before they do. Always make good choices, as with every bad choices comes a consequence. The sad thing here is, these people are adults. The silliest thing for such ignorance is the loss of a job. Kudos to Canada for their enforcement.

One would think, that the Asian inspired cuisine in the buffet would not be served till the ship was cursing the Asian itinerary. That would have been my logical thought. I think they ship would have been much smarter by offering what they normally offer on the European sailings. I have heard from crew who have worked onbaord the Sapphire for example on the Asian cruises, that the cuisine was definitely different from what most of us are normally use to being served as it is very Asian inspired.
On another note, sorry to hear the new ship wasn't up to expectations. I adore the Regal very much, but have no desire to sail on the Majestic due to changes they've made to accommodate the Asian market.

Oh my, what great suggestions. I love the sound of the food tour in Juneau. Also the fishing, where they cook your catch sounds awesome too.

I'm loving all the favorites mentioned so far.

I've done sim cards before. Problem I experienced with that wasa, I needed google maps / internet as that sucked up all the megabytes. This was before Sprint (my phone carrier) started offering their global roaming plan years ago. I probably spent more money with those prepayed sim cars as I always needed to top up on them. Just upgrading with the phone carrier with less expensive, and just more convenient.
-
Also another great reason to upgrade, the Uber app won't work on the standard 2g speed.
-
I use this plan every summer while traveling throughout Europe. In all honestly, I learned you need to upgrade (for a fee) to 3g. The free 2g never seems to strong enough to work. When upgrading the speed, you can either or call sprint, or what I like to do is just contact them via chat on their website. Tell them you would like to pro-rate the upgrade for only the length of time you need it for. That is what I do. Definitely a great perk that free internet so I can google map things, and message family and friends.

I'm curious from others, what your favorite or recommended Alaskan excursions are. I'm cruising the Inside passage on the Ruby in a few weeks for 2 weeks.
I've heard some great things about the helicopter / dog mushing, whale watching, Mendenhall Glacier walk, and salmon bake. I would l love to hear from all of you from your prior experiences,
Stops on this cruise include the following:
-Juneau
-Ketchikan
-Skagway
-Glacier Bay (I can't wait to sail along this passage t oget some great photos of the glaciers)
-Victoria

Love it in there!!! Much warmer than Lukewarm.

I've been sailing onbaord for both Christmas and New Years for the past 8 years, and honestly I plan on making is a ritual every year. Princess does such a phenomenal job with the holidays on board. Christmas they have carolers, snow, fall, Christmas carols with the crew and passengers, Santa Claus, gingerbread competitions, jus to name a few. The decor is cheerful, even the crew wear sanata hatas to be in spirit. I couldn;t imagine a year without doing the holidays onbaord.

Nice deal. You made out well. Congrats. Plus the extra square footage in the room provides nice extra space to move around in with 3 people sharing.

YAY!!!!! I'm sooooo excited. I already have an excursion with the dog mushers, but this overly excited me. How often can you saw you get to hold and play with these adorable puppies onboard the ship.
