  1. Thanks, KK, I hope to be here for the Queen of Toots. Soon it will be our turn!:D We are meeting this morning to go through my cousin's house, and I hope to persuade someone else to go in to the hospital for his lunchtime. If not, I will go a bit early, and try to get home in time.

Talking about gardens, I think we have two baby hummingbirds in the garden, just fledged and flying to the feeders, but still quite plump and with bits of fluff attached. They are adorable, and so early! I guess we've had such a mild winter that they hatched early. Mom & Dad Hummingbird try to get the babies going before the robins return to nest. They must be such tasty morsels, full of nectar and tiny spiders, it's safest to be flying. We have occasionally had all four on the feeder outside the den window, which has never happened before. We're having to refill the feeders every couple of days.

I'd much rather watch humming birds feed than sail-away:D.

  2. I have a fast computer that I keep tuned up and a very fast internet connection, and I haven't been having problems. BUT ... last night I noticed how few posts were being made to CC and figured some other people were having problems. I had switched from Internet Explorer to Chrome last year. Big difference in speed.

I too use Chrome but last night was really frustrating. There was trouble a few days ago and it appeared to clear up but it's back again. Very, very frustrating, to say the least.

  3. Yes, she was a very special ship... in every way. Clocked up 320 days on board the ship.

Your fortunate sod, Stephen. Loved the main, magical staircase. I Loved losing my husband on it. He never did figure it out. I really liked the reversing sofas in the Smoking Room. Still my favourite ship of all time.

Looking forward to finding the cats in your paintings on the Westerdam soon. Can you give me a hint as to how many to look for? Cheers.:)

  4. I will admit that I have to think about it each time, but I can now remember which is which:

The city with the two full words is in the province with the two full words. (thank goodness NB started using the word spelled out in full!)

Good thinking Ruth. You are a cleaver gal.:):D:)

  5. Credit card issues aside, I had a bad experience in December taking a cab from the airport to the Embassy Suites. The driver drove at warp speed and scared us to death. When we arrived at the hotel he just dumped our bags on the entry road and took off quickly, leaving me to scramble to get the four bags out of the way of incoming taxis. This was after I gave him a five dollar tip for a ten minute ride.

I mentioned it at check in and the clerk said it is a frequent complaint. The taxi drivers get mad because the Embassy Suites is so close to the airport and they want a longer drive for a larger fare. They don't like getting stuck going there.

I will be prepared and hope for the best and ask that I and my 2 suit cases and carry on get dropped off at front door so bell hop can take over. I will become very unladylike if he tries to do to me what happened to you. The taxi drivers don't really like coming to Richmond either from Canada Place in downtown Vancouver because they are not allowed to pick up a fare in Richmond and go to Vancouver.

  6. Yes. There's a card reader in the cabs. You swipe your own card. The driver doesn't touch it.

Brian, do you know whether the cab driver gets to see your entire card number? In Vancouver they only get to see the last 4 digits. See you soon at dinner time on the 10th of April.

  7. I have never used credit card in taxi (seems, to me, a ripe target for ID theft) but I think they will accept them.

Not so in Vancouver. They only get to see the last 4 digits of your card number. I no longer fear using a card in Vancouver.:)

  8. I for one was glad you posted. I know Celebrity charges $10 for their drinks, along with Princess and now RC. I hope that is not going to be a trend that Hal decides to follow. I'll have to really cut down on my drinking.

Me too! Right now it's my largest on board expense.

  9. Does anyone have experience with Cabin 409O on the Westerdam or any of the Vista ships? This is a handicap cabin. I would like to know how many closets there are. Can't trust what I would be told by Hal. Need to hear from someone that's been there.

Some handicap cabins take away closets to expand the handicap bathroom. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I realize that. I goofed in quoting cabin number. Sorry and thanks for informing me. I will try again.
