Don't put to much research & planning into it.
Nobody really hangs out on a Central Park Balcony.

If the OP has people who have never traveled outside of the US
Are only going on a 3 day cruise.
I bet they will probably never need a passport for anything else in the near future.
Stop suggesting they spend $130 + for something that will never get used again.

Someone at some point will probably say "Happy Mothers Day".

Possibly, a logistical nightmare. How many cabins on each deck? How many people in those cabins? How many washers and dryers? What to do when people forget their laundry is in a machine and others are waiting to use? A one-off for the world cruise might be ok, but long term? How has this worked on other ships?
Works very well
The machines are fast and people usually hang close by.
We have never had an issue on Princess.

Walk down to the main dining room before they open and ask for him.

I have received a similar email from Royal Caribbean. Too bad for them, after 34 cruises amounting to nearly one year at sea, you have eliminated a benefit we have enjoyed for years. With their announcement of this change reducing many of us to peons', I have found it necessary to announce our change. BYE BYE Royal Caribbean! NO MORE ROYAL CARIBBEAN FOR US!
I bet this person will book 2 or more RC cruises before the end of the year....

It is amusing that so many people join just to complain.
Even more amusing when they have false information....

Like the above poster said.
Book through a TA.
I always have NR deposits.

We had UDP on the Symph last March
I went to one of the Kiosks in the promenade right after boarding and made all the reservations.
The entire process seemed very inefficient and slow, it took around 30min.
It was kind of a hassle for the guy going from screen to screen checking availability.
Like other said, most of the good times were taken.
But after I told them who I was, we ended up getting everything done.

Flying down on Christmas Day … no stores open. Might look into Uber to a food store day of embarkation .
You should be able find places open.
At least somewhere to get soda.
It is better to get it and bring it, then pay $4+
Even if you only drink 2...
-
Just bring your own 12 pack or two of soda if you want a few.
I would never pay for that...

Pssst, it's Christmas time, you know, the time of the year when most of us give things to other people whether they need it or not. I'm sure you have lots of lumps of coal from Santa still around that you really didn't need. 😉
Sure it is nice.
But most needed things are purchased pre trip.
I have received cruise credit many times from TA
But sometimes struggle to use it.
There really is nothing I want to buy on the ship.
Overpriced merchandise..

What do they need OBC for?

The two of you plus eight other couples…so would be a round table for 18? That would be an enormous table. And somehow your Diamond drinks bought shots for everyone each night. Hmm, any chance that it was eight other people (4 other couples) at the table?
Yes it was 5 couples, total of 10 people..

First, Never use a debit card for this type of transaction.
You should probably know this already.
Second, If they are that bad
Why didn't you cancel the cruise?

Just go off the Radiance a few days ago.
We were sat a large round table with 8 other couples (have not had that happen in16 years because we had kids with us then).
Nobody knew each other and it seemed a little strange at first.
But after we broke the ice and introduced each other, it was nice.
My wife and I took bets on how many others would not return again.
But to our surprise, everyone was back every night.
In the end it was a great time for all. Much better than me & my wife by ourselves.
Sometimes its better to go outside the comfort zone and try things......
We used our daily diamond drinks to get shots for everyone each night

Why is it that when people eat cruise ship Lobster.
They truly believe they have "Arrived"?

You might not be able to do that.
If you no-show for the first flight, the entire flight may be cancelled.
You should check with S/W first.
