  1. Are they really sold out? I have never had a problem booking excursions while on boeard, yet on my cruise personalizer on the Regal 3/15 cruise, it seems like everything I am interested in is either sold out or waitlisted

Yes it's possible. But don't get discouraged. If they show a waitlist - get on it. That implies they may add another bus/boat whatever, and be able to take more people. Also - people cancel tours which can be done up to 24 or 48 hours before the departure date of the tour (even once you're on the ship). Check with the ShoreEx desk once on board to see if there is any availability for the tour you want. Good luck - have fun.

  2. People do miss the ship, but it is extremely rare and often involves alcohol or human error on the part of the passenger (like not realizing the time.)

Which brings up another point... Make sure you're on 'Ship Time', not 'Island Time' - they can be different. Not normally... but ??

  3. hate to think of the damage we will do when we retire.

You definitely can't do any 'damage' when you retire. Looking forward to hearing of your adventures. Both of you deserve everything you can afford to do in retirement (hope it comes soon).

As for the comment about Jeannie - was trying to make a joke that just doesn't seem to have come over appropriately. Sorry.

  4. I have a new Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa card which does not charge foreign transaction fees. It's free for the first year and $120/year thereafter.

I've used it a couple of times already for $US purchases, and plan to use when travelling to other countries.. I've always been annoyed with the extra fees charged by my other credit cards.

You obviously want the Marriott rewards points. The Sears card has no annual fee.

  5. Now if they switched out the Beech 1900 on the connecting flight....

Don't like the 1900?? You might be the only one on board so they should be able to get all your bags on. Plus you get a window seat and an isle seat at the same time !! :) Be prepared for a long walk at Pearson - it's almost far enough to take a cab. :D

  6. If... and only IF our friends ask us about cruising we explain our experiences. Same as going to a all-inclusive resort, or any land-based holiday. We never push them towards it - just try to explain the differences for us... they have to make the decision. Should they decide to come on a cruise with us (or without us).. that's their decision and I don't feel responsible should they not enjoy the experience.

  7. Have tried the 'search' function, with no luck. Most cruise lines offer a method to contact the ship in case of emergency, but I can't find any such listing on Disney.

Does anyone have a phone# (other than customer service) or email contact... just in case??? Just trying to be prepared. Thanks.

  8. Not all cabbies know where they're going - just a general area. Once we had to give directions to the driver for our hotel.. he got a 'little' disoriented! Once told, he spoke very loudly.. We all know where all the hotels are ! Not !!

Back to the question... there are multiple signs to direct traffic to all the ships - we've driven in on our own with no problem. Construction on the other hand can be a problem (but really only wasted time as the meter keeps ticking).

Many, if not most, hotels no longer offer free transport to the port.
