  1. This is rubbish. List me twelve things that NCL charge for, that other main stream cruise lines do not.

    Your starter for one:

Room Service (except for morning coffee).

I await the other eleven with interest.:D

Aww... You Brits - Always to the point!

    But - I agree. :D

Now to see your humour (humor for US people) which nobody other than us Canucks, Ozys, and Kiwis totally understand.

  2. Hawaii by nature is informal. That being said, their formal wear is nothing but spectacular... However, you won't find a tie or jacket on any of them. With 5 long land trips to Hawaii, and dinner and many fine restaurants I've never seen a tie or jacket worn.

  3. This bold or not bold discussion piqued my interest so I just checked on several forums many of which I've never been on before, and no thread older than 4 hours is in bold. I even watched one thread that the last bold thread was at 12:13 pm - my time was 4:10 pm. I checked back at 4:15 pm and that thread was no longer bold. So that may be the answer - 4 hours. :)

Yeah, yeah - I know... Too much time on my hands.

  4. How does it work for you?

Seems pretty random. I've been in and out of this forum several times testing and everything stays bold up to 1245 pm today, so leaving the site doesn't un-bold anything.

Then I went to a forum which I haven't been on in probably a month, if not more which should then mean I would have pages of bold threads... Nope - only bold threads showing are from after noon today.

  5. Here's a great site that enables you to look at deck plans....

    http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/Royal-Princess-III

You can choose any ship on any fleet you want. Go to the very top where it says Deck Plans/Drag Decks/Pics and Info... choose Drag Decks and you can put one deck (or more) on top of each other to see what's above or below you. You may have to adjust the decks slightly to be accurate ie. make sure the elevators and stairs line up.

The Pics portion requires you to join the site with a fee, which I haven't done.

    Enjoy! :)

  6. First time going to Curacao and looking to go to a beach - but we have to have some sort of shade. Being from the 'Great White North' we just can't take 4 hours in the sun! :)

I've been scouring hundreds of pictures and can't find any beach with much shade other than a few cabanas or a few palm trees. I would imagine these would be taken up early. We are used to being able to rent chairs AND an umbrella but can't find a single pic that show umbrellas.

Any suggestions? Or.. should we look at a day pass through a Hotel?

  7. All karaoke sounds good if you're drunk enough!

Exactly! Rule #1 of karaoke: The quality of the entertainment is directly proportional to the amount of alcohol consumed just prior to and during said entertainment.

Maybe that's why they introduced the Sip and Sail promo prior to making this announcement. :)

Heck, with all the money they will save by not having to hire professional performers for one venue - the S&S promo won't cost them a dime.

  8. I disagree, or it depends on when you do this. If searching out cruises and your are set to CAD being in Canada, if you click on the flights tab (see below), you will be able to enter departure airport (e.g. YYZ versus BUF) and then compare options.

Nope - won't work for me - I just tried it. Only airports that come up are Cdn. I tried SYR BUF & JFK and it doesn't recognize any of them. Put in YOW or YYZ and it works fine.

  9. This is another good use of a VPN...

There is no need to have a cruise booked in order to check airfare on Princess' US website. Click on View Details on the page I posted above, if the cruise is within the booking window, you'll see an option to check eZAir.

    Lew

Thanks Lew - still an aggravating thing about the web site. Yes... I can access eZAir without booking a cruise but it only gives me Cdn airports. When I called Princess about it they wanted my confirmation # in order to reset my priorities to US. The VPN sounds like a good tool for some people, but since we can pay in either US or Cdn currency, they should show us both options.

  10. Not about pricing, but sort of related.... We live in a border city and closest real airport with decent prices is in the US. Princess's eZAir will not give me airfares for anyplace but Cdn airports - therefore pretty much useless when I want to shop for prices. I can call Princess and they will reset me to show US airports, but I can only access this the one time they reset it. If I go back tomorrow I'm back to Cdn airports. Plus, I have to have a cruise booked for them to do it. I'm not saying I would use eZAir, but would like to check it out.

  11. So many things about the OP's post make me suspicious.

    - He posted today as if he was still on the ship, but makes several mentions of dates (eg. tonight July 9). But I've concluded that he wrote this essay while on the ship and just posted today.

    - 1st formal night clothes didn't fit, 2nd never got them. 14 day cruise should have been 4 formal nights.

    - Virgin told him to have ship contact them daily with location so they could ship lost luggage to proper location.. therefore Virgin lost the luggage. But.. Crew member found one bag and had it delivered.

    - In Copenhagen taxi only brought 1 of the 2 lost bags.. but he already had one from a crew member.

    - Princess would not contact Virgin, but he could stand at Customer Service and make calls, just not from his cabin. Actually, the crew member was allowed to call Virgin when CS wouldn't.

There's more, but a lot of things just don't add up.

Forgot to mention - OP has been a CC member since 2012, but 1st post??

  12. My plumbers always got excited when a call came about jewelry dropped in the sink. Taking the trap apart and retrieving the lost item was almost always good for a Jackson.

Sure have to agree to that! :) But... you make it sound like it happens often?

  13. Does the ship leave a list of passengers who did not make it if they do have to leave without the passengers?

Interesting point which makes me believe this is a made up story. Everything I've read is that when a pax misses the ship, security will go into their stateroom and retrieve important documents - passport, credit cards, possibly cash etc. and give it to the port authority.

  14. Does everyone else always bring passports on shore? Even if I embark with my Passport Card only (very handy), I bring the full passport on shore. We even have a waterproof bag for snorkeling. :)

Always - but only in non-US or English ports.. ie USVI, BVI, PR. For those ports (being CDN) I normally only have to prove citizenship. I do, however, carry a copy of all my docs wherever I go.

Whenever I carry my passport - it's always concealed in a location where a pic-pocket would never go! :)

Plus.. I carry enough cash to make a robber not need to look elsewhere for 'valuables'.:D

  15. Have no idea what you want to put into these bags, but... as others have stated - do not give them to a stevedore, or hang them on doors etc they would most likely be 'lost'. Your butler or room steward is much too busy to go deck to deck to deliver them.

Why not plan a sail-away deck party at some location on the ship and just hand them out? Everyone is going to know it came from you anyway.

  16. That's a peeve of mine as well. I wasn't about to wallow through the OP but got the jest through the responses by those who had plowed through it.

The long winded and to me indecipherable OP apparently is just a no substance ramble.

But.... If nobody ever posted something that would allow the rest of us to be 'critical' - then the CC Forums would be a bust. :)
