  1. How will you know if someone is using their e-cig or pen in their cabin or on their balcony?

Sorry to disappoint you, but you will NOT know if someone is using an E-cig because there is NO smell or odor. It is purely water vapor which disappears in two or 3 seconds.

So, no need to worry yourself in advance. Best way to ease your concerns is take an oceanview or inside cabin. No worries about anything.

    Have a nice cruise.

  2. Hi Ladies, Has anyone worn the Maiden Form Body Shaper (from under the bra area,) midriff down to the middle of the thigh area (open crotch) and if so, how comfortable (or not) are they to wear? I think the Number is 4128?

Do you need to go up a size or? Going on a cruise in a few weeks and think I could use some 'big time shaping' in that area.

Any help, input, good or bad is very much appreciated.

Thanks for your help. I know I can always count on CC members:D

  3. I bet it won't be long until these changes are fleet wide.

Hi, This is absolutely RIDICULOUS:eek: Just as easy to go to the MDR or Buffet for breakfast for eggs. Soon, they'll make us pay for all our free food (which isn't free as we know). We need to protest....

OK I'm protesting...N/C room service unless after midnight and 1 flat rate.

First them change smoking policies, now they charge for RS eggs. Soon the air won't be free, they will figure out a way to charge for FRESH air! Sorry I'm ranting, but this bugs me.

  4. We are sailing on the Gem on 12/1 and we found out through the pre-cruise concierge (we are in a suite) that the construction should be done by 11/22 to move Moderno and replace Blue Lagoon with O'Sheehans. Didn't ask about the rock climbing wall but this is the construction talked about the article njhorseman provided.

Hi, any new information regarding changing of carpets? In the rooms or main areas? Someone mentioned they were also working on that, but ????

Thanks. We're on board with you....

  5. Hi, we were wondering if anyone has some updated information with regard to the Synagogue, Parliament, etc., cost of taxi directly there (walking a slight issue) and can we get one back from there as well. Is there a charge for enter the Synagogue. Can we take pictures inside?

    Thanks in advance.:)

  6. Do you know if it's available immediately after embarkation?

They will direct you to the buffet. You DO NOT have to go there. The main dining room opens around 12:00. You sit down and unwind a minute, then order. Nice and quiet... There is also O'Sheehan's..... No need to bring food.... I'll just add there may be more choices for young children in the Buffet and I believe a children's area to eat with smaller tables and chairs.

Have a safe, fun cruise. Make memories:D

  7. I know this may seem a strange questions, considering I'm suppose to be on holidays. I will be on the Norwegian Jade in March and I know some of my clothes will need a iron when I unpack. So hopefully they have irons in the cabins.

Please do not bring an iron. Irons have always been forbidden in cabins and I believe Steamers are not allowed either. If you need one, they will gladly bring you one and an ironing board, if you call housekeeping. They will probably come back in about 1/2 hour to pick them up, by which time the iron should be cooled. They are very nice about it.

No real candles in the cabin either.

    Have a great cruise:)

  8. Sounds like they are doing the move that the Jewel did in May - although the Jewel's was done during drydock. Basically, Moderno's is being moved to the Star Bar and the Cagney's annex room. And then old Moderno's and the Blue Lagoon are being turned into O'Sheehans all the way around the open atrium. There wasn't too much actual "construction", just adding a wall in the Star bar and opening the O'Sheehans space up a bit (maybe adding some booths? Can't remember), so hopefully it won't impact your sailing much as far as noise goes. I'm not sure how they will handle Modernos/o'Sheehans service during any construction though. I haven't been watching the Gem's schedule to see if she's heading into drydock at all, but I'm surprised they are doing the switchover during actual sailings. Maybe during the Jewel drydock they discovered that it only took a day or two, and so realized such a change does not require drydock?

    Robin

Interesting information. I know Gem was scheduled for dry dock 11/2014, but was rescheduled for 11/2015...So, I guess we WILL have O'Sheehan's instead of the Blue Lagoon on our 12/1 sailing, and Moderno's being moved. Sounds good to us.

How did you find you find the food and entertainment? Thanks in advance for confirmation.

  9. I'm hoping someone has some experience with this - will everything be closed or will I have a shot at booking private tours? TIA

I'm pretty certain pretty much everything will be closed...It is Christmas Day;) I'm sure it'll probably be a fun day on the ship.:)

Have a good cruise and safe sails.

  10. I don't think "most people" do go to the specialty restaurants, I think it's safer to say that "many people" go to the specialty restaurants. We have always found the food and service in the MDR to be good to excellent.

We do as well! Sometimes on our longer cruises 12-14 nights, we just feel like a change of pace. We only do 1, maybe 2 at most. LeBistro is # 1. Maybe this time we'll try Modernos, and that's it.

  11. Went to site to buy coupons for upcoming ncl cruise and they aren't listed anymore? So disappointed? When did this happen?

June 15, 2014...Can't even get the ones on the ship..$10/20. no more offers.

Sorry. I felt the same way...We're on a 12 nighter and would have loved the $25/50.

Maybe someday NCL will partner up again w/ Slot play.

Have a good cruise. I'm sure we will even without the coupons.

  12. There are several locations on board where a lighted sign tells which restaurants are full or have wait times. On port days, the MDR's may not be open since most folk are on excursions. If you were asking about specialty restaurants, there is a kiosk in the atrium where you can find out if you need a reservation.

If I remember correctly from a year ago, at least 1 MDR is open for lunch on Port days. Of course there is the Buffet, Blue lagoon and room service.:)

  13. Greetings All,

Is there a way to get smaller portions in the main dining rooms? I don't eat a lot, and yet feel bad when there is food left over on my plate. I want to be able to try things though! I know I don't have to order all three courses each time I sit down for dinner, but I also know from past experiences that the servers think that something is wrong if you don't order one item from each course and also if you don't eat it all!

Thanks for any and all responses :)

Portions are a lot smaller than they used to be on most ships. They give the same size to all. I usually ask for no starch, i.e. potatoes, rice and get (sometimes) double veggies if I like the particular veggies enough.

Just enjoy what you can eat.:)

  14. Hi, is checking in online required? Or can I just go to the Pier and NCL will do it?

It is not required but highly suggested and recommended to sign in on line. Otherwise, it delays the lines at check in. It only takes 2 minutes from the comfort of your home and you can print your docs/luggage tags at the same time. Unless you're in a suite, nothing comes by regular mail anymore.

    Have a good cruise:)

  15. Or just show up? Any documents I need to print?

Yes, definitely. Print your cruise documents (Guest ticket) and your luggage tags.

DO NOT forget your Passport, especially if you are flying to the Port, OR birth certificate, driver's license. We also take our medical cards (in case of emergency, heaven forbid)...Don't forget money!!!

    Have a good cruise!

  16. What is the likelihood that the World Series will be shown on the ship. Leaving on the 27th. Games 6 and 7 are scheduled for the 28th and 29th, if the series goes that long.

They will show it on several screens throughout the ship! We watched the Yankees in the world series a few years ago and they won the series. Great..

    Have a fun cruise.:)

  17. My husband and I leave on the Sky in 2 weeks! Is supposed to be quick, easy, low stress 4 day trip. Part of that includes a direct early morning flight into Miami the day we embark (we get in at 8:45am) and using carry ons only. I have never flow without a checked bag (never done this short of a trip either). I have all our toiletries figured to stay under the liquid limit for flying but just remembered about sunscreen. I'm pale and that's A LOT of little travel bottles to take...

so my question is... I know picking up sunscreen at either Miami airport or on the ship will be expensive but which will be LESS expensive? And how much are we talking - $10, $15, $20 a tube/spray can? Any other ideas welcome. Sunscreen is really all we need to buy once we get there and I dont really have any interest in getting a cab to drop us off at a drug store on the way to the pier.

    Thanks!

Hi, the shops on the ship WILL NOT be open until after sailing and they are VERY expensive.

Is there any reason between now and the day you cruise you cannot get to a Walmart or some other local store near you? It would be much cheaper and convenient as you will have it with you. Also, airport prices are quite high as well. JMHO

    Have a good cruise:)

  18. As other have said, the dispensers. If you're in a Spa cabin, they stock with Elemis Spa shampoo, body wash, conditioner, etc one time. However, we found more of it in the drawer under the sofa bed with additional bed linens and blankets. :)

Before NCL discontinued the shampoos, etc. in the balconies and mini-suites, we had the Elemis products in the bathroom.

Personally speaking, 1) They made me itch and 2) I do not like their smell. So glad we bought our own small bottles of "goodies". Use them once and never again, even on other lines. Just my preference and personal opinion. Choice is everyone's to make. Some like the smell.. I don't think it's a flattering smell. Again, JMHO.

    Safe sails.

  19. Good day NCL cruisers...I see posts for the Menus on the Epic....I wonder if any very recent cruisers have been on the GEM and could/would be kind enough to post those new menus? I understand they may be different from the Epic's menu.

Thanks so much for your time. :) We are sailing on the Gem 12/1/14:) :D

    Have a great day.

Hi again, it's Me: Guess no one has been on the GEM recently to advise about the new menu...I'll keep trying.

Many thanks to anyone and everyone who answers.:D

Safe sails and enjoy your cruises
