On our Hawaii cruise, we had an exceptionally large roll call and most everyone really did participate in whatever activities were planned. Well, one evening we had a pajama party in the Schooner Bar with the sing along piano guy. Someone had brought glow sticks and glow necklaces, and I just remember singing Sweet Caroline with about 100 of my new best friends, wearing my pajamas. It was swell!

IMO the answer basically is no. Eating in the MDR is not like eating in a stateside restaurant with reservations. The food is prepared to serve hundreds of people within the same time frame. All of the courses are prepared in sequence as they are being served simultaneously to the entire dining room.
The wait staff working with your table also serves other tables and is working pretty much in unison with each. Each course for all comes out roughly together for all of their tables.
Therefore it is very difficult for them to change the pace for one party - especially if you are with others at the same table. It's not fair to the wait staff or to the other people at your table to ask them to serve you differently than the rest.
Perhaps just skip desert to leave a little early, but otherwise the typical seating takes about 1-1/2 hours to complete. The other option would be to choose My Time Dining and vary your dining time.
I agree...... 1 1/2 hrs seems to be about the minimum. I'm happy if I can get out of there in less than 2 hours!

Sundays are tough as most of the city is closed down. The craft and food market, etc will all be closed. You van take a cab to Rodney Bay for multiple dining options such as Spinnakers, Bay Gardens Beach Resort restaurants, etc..Marigot has a few options but they are expensive, and the beach is very small along the front of the yacht Harbor. You van check out Pink Plantation House, along the hillside above the port - great local food and amazing views, beautiful setting. You would need to arrange a reservation though to be sure they're ready for you. Aubergine Seraphine is a small Guesthouse near the poet with great food also, would be open.
Enjoy your visit.
We will be in port on a Monday in April and would love to do lunch at the Pink Plantation. Will it be easy to find a taxi to take us there upon arrival and what is the likely cost?
Thanks!

Can someone share a working e-mail address for Royston, please?

Shhhhhh.....don't be telling everyone about these cabins!! They should remain a secret so that they are always available for those of us who love them so much. We have had these cabins on numerous cruises and have 8102 booked for the Jewel repo this fall. They are the BOMB! That said however, I have had a cruise ruined by neighbors smoking constantly on their balcony, so this is always a risk. Good luck!

Do a search for "warm chocolate cake recipe" on this board and I posted a recipe that is very close, if not the same, as RCI's.

I, too, loved those crab cakes. Did you also have "warm chocolate cake"? That was my other favorite on the Explorer.
Anyone recently (within 2 mo) been in cabin 8102 on Serenade (only)?

Would love to know the answer, myself! We have this cabin in a month and have also had it several times before. It's always had a lounger or two. It would be a shame if they've done away with that. I'll have to drag a mattress out there!
