  1. I’m now wondering about our cruise May 14, 2020 on Pursuit that appears to not be selling well. I understand that it was only recently put on the schedule what with the change to going to Europe early. But if I look at available cabins, all most the entire ship is showing available with only 1 to a few cabins showing booked in almost all categories.

We will definitely hold off on getting our air arrangements until closer in.

  2. I wanted to give shout out because so many have been having frustrations with US Azamara reps over the phone. I was so pleasantly surprised at the quick, efficient and friendly service I received.

We had a B2B scheduled for April 2020 that we had booked onboard X last November. My husband can no longer go due to a work conflict. So I called and talked to Christine at Azamara. We needed to cancel one half of the B2B and then move the other to a cruise a month later. She was quick and knowledgeable. She moved the deposits over to the new one and we were also able to retain our booked-on-board OBC benefits for the moved cruise. Easy peasy.

    Thanks, Christine.

  3. Just a note to be careful when using it. DH added it to his card. I logged in and tried to add it to mine and it said I couldn’t do that because it was already there. The two cards are on the same AmEx account, just different numbers.

I purchased a beverage package using my card number. The charge posted as Holland America, but no $150 rebate.

Turns out you HAVE to use the same card number you first added the deal on. Being the same account doesn’t work.

No worries. I have to buy the other beverage package yet, so I’ll be sure to do it right this time.

  4. I understand. I think we will go ahead and pre-purchase.

Signature is coming out to $44.95 +15% per person per day for drinks up to $11.

Elite $59.95 + 15% per person per day for drinks up to $15.

It is very hard to find up to date information about what exactly is included for the extra.

Any good sparkling wines in the Signature?

  5. I got a good deal on a signature suite this fall on Zuiderdam (October 2019). It has the restricted non-refundable deposit and a distinctive dining package. (Means we can’t cancel and rebook). This will be our first cruise on HAL, but we have cruised a lot of other lines.

I’ve been searching the boards but haven’t found the answer to this question.

My hubby would like a beverage package because he likes the convenience. It appears that it is cheaper to buy ahead of time instead of waiting until we are aboard.

Celebrity has been sending out emails offering percentages off of cruise “enhancements” such as beverage packages, dining packages, shore excursions. Does HAL do that too?

Should I go ahead a buy us the beverage package or wait until closer in?

    TIA,

    Nancy

  6. Are they ever going to fix the 20 thread fetch problem? I have to login to cruise critic every time I open the Tapatalk app. I can deal with that on my iPad. It's the only fetching 20 threads per forum that drives me batty.

The browser-base UI on iPad is bad, IMO. I think switching to that new platform was a big mistake on CC's part.

I'd rather use Tapatalk. Without Tapatalk, I do not read or participate in the forums any more.

  7. If you have the cabins you want take the cruise!!!!!!

I priced out the 2021 cruise more diligently this evening. The 2020 aft C1s we have are cheaper than 2C in 2021. We had booked onboard during a sale and got two perks on the first cruise and paid gratuities on the repositioning one, so pricing them apples to apples, 2021 is quite a bit higher.

We will need to have further discussions with our travel mates....

  8. Can anyone who sailed on Millenium or Summit just prior to the revolution drydock weigh in for me? We are booked B2B on Constellation in March and April 2020, just prior to her drydock for her upgrades.

We we are trying to determine if we should move our reservations out to 2021.

The concern is that they will begin the refurbishment while we are still sailing. We have family members who had negative impacts on a princess cruise a few years ago. Work began during the cruise just prior to drydock and it wasn’t a good situation.

Prices in  2021 are not much changed from what we booked for 2020. We have aft C1 for both cruises on our 2020 but that wouldn’t be an option in 2021. There aren’t any available for both cruises and we don’t want to move. We could, however, book sweet sixteen and not have to move, plus save some money.

    Opinions?

  9. We did a Paul Gauguin 10 night in January of 2018. We had rain almost every day. But it would rain only a few minutes most of the time. Except for perhaps a bit higher humidity, it didn’t impact our enjoyment of French Polynesia. Had a great time.

  10. I've stayed at the Hilton Avenue Diagonal twice. The hotel is great and I love the location. Front desk staff can sometimes be a bit brusque though. I loved this hotel becuase it is NOT in a touristy area. Lots of locals and business people instead. There were several restaurants nearby that were fantastic as well as shopping and the metro station. I would definitely stay again.

I concur. Hoho bus stop is close by and some great restaurants. Liked that it was quiet, but easy to go find the action if you want it. We are staying there again this fall.

  11. We did the 10 day Society and Tuamotus cruise in January 2018 and did not do the included ATN air from PG. Maybe knowing what we did might help with your planning.

We flew on Hawaiian Airlines and arrived late in the evening on a Saturday. We pre-booked a room at Fare Suisse guest house and that includes pick up at the airport. We had breakfast at Fare Suisse and they gave us a ride to the ferry over to Moorea where we spent 3 nights at the IC. We booked the IC through a travel agent and it included some extras that were quite nice. (Room upgrade, one included dinner, breakfast buffet daily, some bar credit.)

IC does not have a shuttle from the ferry to the hotel but their concierge will pre arrange van transfers for you and that can be billed to your hotel room.

Our cruise embarked on a Wednesday so after breakfast we checked out but they held onto our luggage for us while we relaxed by the pool, split a sandwich for lunch and then transferred back to the ferry. The ferry arrives right next to where the PG docked so we just walked over and got on the ship.

My sister was meeting us as she had done the ATN package air through PG, had arrived in the morning and spent the day at the included IC Tahiti dayroom.

Fare Suisse does not offer day rooms. She had inquired.

Although we did not use PG air, we did separately purchase the PG post cruise day room and transfers. We got to stay on the ship until after lunch before boarding a small bus (I think there were 7 of us not doing the Tahiti island tour) and went straight to to Tahiti Pearl. We could have done the IC day room but it was $80 more per person and didn’t seem worth that for a few hours.

We tried to independently book a day room and transfers for that last day, but it was significantly more expensive than the PG post package.

We had previously sailed on the 7 night in 2013, flew in on Hawaiian and went directly to the ship at nearly midnight. Had to do our make up muster drill the next morning. So we felt we missed almost a whole day of the cruise before settling in to enjoy ourselves.

So doing several days pre-cruise then a longer cruise is our preference IMHO.

  12. Do we need to take any type of converters for pre cruise stay in Moorea?

We are staying pre cruise in a small property and do wish to be able to charge our camera and phones and (maybe) use a hair dryer (LOL) MAYBE :') :')

Would prefer to take with us instead of worrying about purchasing in FP.

    Thank you !

Yes, I would take converters. We stayed at the IC on Moorea and there was a shaver outlet up high in the bathroom and several round European outlets (type E) elsewhere in our bungalow. I suspect a smaller property would not be much different.

Be careful with hair dryers and voltage. Even with a converter they can overheat and burn out. The IC provided a hair dryer, but the guesthouse we stayed at in Papeete did not.

We purchased converters on amazon and took them along. They were also handy on the PG since that made more of those outlets useful as well.
